Yes, you can redeem them on both stores (Apple Store & Apple Education Store).

Keep in mind that you can only redeem 8 Apple gift cards in one online transaction, but there are ways around this limit:

can you use these gift cards at apple education store?

    • +1

      Yes!

    • +1

yes, you can load these into your account balance, and use the balance in any store.

  • +3

If I load up my apple account with gift cards, will I still get a tax invoice same as if you’re paying by credit card?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks!

    • to Apple, they dunno if you got 20x points with woolworth.

    • +5

Even better, the tax invoice doesn't say anything about gift card. It says credit card.

      • nice

  • Omg!! I just read about the Flyby bonus on the order post and made a comment about how I want to buy the iPhone!

This is great, so I can buy 4 X $500 Apple gift card from Woolworths and tap the everyday rewards card and get around 10% of the value back in points?! Am I correct?

Can this gift card be bought online via Woolworths website? Thanks.

      Correct

Can this gift card be bought online via Woolworths website? Thanks.

      In-Store only.

      • Excellent, thank you. So variable load… aka the card that can top up variable amount of upto $500 will do the trick! Thanks OP! Love it!!

        • +8

If you’re wanting to purchase $2000 worth I would recommend going through the service desk register, as a senior employee or manager needs to approve purchases over $1000. Also be prepared to be questioned about being scammed.

          • @melbourne guy: Thanks for the tip.

And what questions they may ask me about being scammed?

            • +1

@BuddhaBoy: In the past I’ve had staff ask me if someone had asked me to buy the gift cards for them, what I would be using them for and that if I’m aware of Gift Card scams.

    • The highest denomination of the GC seems $200 as per the category?

      • +5

Variable Load goes up to $500.

        • Sorry can you please explain this in more detail? I tried googling but I couldn’t find the answer but what’s variable load? The apple education store only allows up to 8 gift cards and I’m planning on getting a $2k MacBook Air. Thanks!

          • +3

@fishybone: You can see the Variable Load in the Woolworths Catalogue (First Gift Card with the $20-$500 in the corner).

Variable load allows you to purchase custom amounts from $20 to $500.

            • @RichardL: ooohh… it took me like 5 mins that make sense of what you said.

        • Just purchased $500 but zero points added to my rewards card

          • @Rebu: Same.
Woolies said to wait 14 BUSINESS days.
            Unlike instant like before.

Will prefer Flybuys from now on - 48 hours at worst.

            • @Yumbo: Yeah what kind of SLA is 14 business days. It’s basically 18-19 days

            • @Yumbo: I just purchased $1000 worth (10x $100) of gift cards today and the $100 everyday rewards dollars were added instantly! :p

  • I know these can be used at the Apple Store, but can they also be used on the iTunes Store? Are there any other offers for iTunes Gift Cards from any other physical or online merchants? Thanks

    • +5

iTunes Gift Cards has been replaced by these Apple Gift Cards (which can be used for In-App and Physical Purchases).

Hence why you rarely see straight % discounts (or anything above 10% now).

    • +1

      Yes you can.

    • +1

      They are all one now

    • Yep. My app and subscription charges gets taken out of the preloaded credit. So it's about 10% off anything you get through the app store and icloud.

I think @WookieMonster 's magnum opus on Apple Gift Cards (or a nice little summary, like this one) should be pinned somehow to deals like these whenever they're posted, kinda like an FAQ or 101 to reduce, well, legitimate but frequently asked questions.

The biggest pro I think is less to-and-fro on a historically well-covered set of Qs, like:

    • Can I use this in X store?
    • Can I use a mix of Account Balance with GCs?
    • What's the max number of GCs I can use instore vs online?
    • What does 20 x points translate to in discount percentage terms?

This has the benefit of less repeated stuff to scan through in comments, and hopefully surface more interesting nuggets of convo. (Maybe. This is OzB 😂)

Maybe even better: make it automated. Like, as you're posting the deal, it detects it's about Apple Gift Cards (or whatever), and auto-includes well-liked-by-the-community references in a "Check out WookieMonster's coverage of this here (URL)".

My 2c. (Has this already been suggested?)

    • +1

      Added to deal post.

  • +1

2k for a phone or mac etc with this deal = 20,000 QFF

  • I wonder if this qualifies for the Tableware promotion too?

Buy max level Apple cards and get some cutlery and crockery 😀👍

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/discover/rewards-tablewar…

    • Wow the cost of each set is atrocious ! $35 for one set (4 pieces) for the cutlery. $8.75 each for knife, fork, tablespoon and teaspoon.

When you can get a complete set at BigW for $34 https://www.bigw.com.au/product/house-home-stainless-steel-2…

Excluded Purchases means purchases made at Everyday Market from Woolworths, Metro60, Ampol Woolworths Metro, MetroGo, BIG W Lay-by fees (including but not limited to any lay-by service fees and cancellation fees), smoking/tobacco products and accessories, alcohol, Woolworths Mobile (including recharge), Woolworths insurance, travel cards and tickets, cash outs, lottery products and gift cards (including WISH gift cards and iTunes), BIG W Photos, BIG W eBay, BIG W MyDeal, Carpet Care products, donations, Delivery Fees, Bag Fees, Crate Service Fees and purchases for non-household consumption over $AUD1,000 in one transaction or over $AUD5,000 in transactions across any consecutive seven day period.

      • No shiny metal, glass or ceramic things for us then. 😏

  • +1

Apple limits 8 GC per transaction.

Can I overcome this by loading all my GC's into an Apple account and then use my Apple account balance to make the purchase (e.g. iPhone)?

    • +2

yes, I did this for my recent iPad purchase. There's a limit of $4,999 in the account though

    • Good to know about the 8 card limit. How do you load the GC into an apple account?

    • +2

Added more info to the description.

    • +1

Yes if your buying online (delivery or for collection instore). But NO, if your buying the iPhone in the physical Apple Store. You can take the gift cards in store and they will consolidate them to fall under the max 8 per transaction.

  • +1

For those wondering, these stack in the Apple EPP store if you or your friend works at Apple. No, the new iPhone isn’t available for F&F yet though

    • +1

Stating the obvious in case for some it's not: you have to give the gift card redemption number to the employee to enter it on the checkout page. So don't redeem it to your account before.

The other part is you kinda have to trust the other person.

    • Any idea when F&F for someone who works at apple will be available??

      • Last year it was mid November. I assume it’ll be similar this year

    • What’s EPP and F&F

      • Employee purchase program - Friends & Family

    • Great tip. Do you know whether the whole gift card has to be used by the employee? For example, if i buy a $2000 gift card and the product is only $1800, will the employee keep the remaining $200, or can that remain with the card after the purchase?

      Thank you

      • +1

Whatever is not used up, the remaining balance will be still on the same card after the purchase.

  • +1

Can I claim TRS for an iPhone that purchased using gift cards?

    • +2

Can’t see why not. You should get a tax invoice regardless of how you paid.

    • +2

      Yes you can claim TRS:)

  • +1

For those redeeming everyday rewards for Qantas points, you can potentially triple dip (buy gift cards using a credit card which earns Qantas points) by purchasing through the Qantas store

Make sure you check the t&cs first for exclusions:

Qantas points are not awarded on the new iPad (10th Gen), iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch, Apple TV 4K, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch SE, Studio Display, MacBook Air (M2), Apple Pro Display XDR, gift wrapping, gift cards, Apple Developer Programs, AppleCare products purchased individually or after the applicable product has been shipped, or on freight, tax or handling charges. Apple sells and ships products to end-user customers only; you may not purchase for resale. There is a maximum cap of five (5) units per eligible product in each order, except iPhone, in which case only two (2) units per customer within a thirty-day (30-day) period to be eligible for Qantas points to be awarded. Qantas points will not be awarded on units exceeding this cap.

In order for your purchase to qualify for Qantas points, the transaction must be completed within the same session that you start the purchase without exiting your browser - opening a new tab or returning later will result in the purchase not tracking.

    • how does this work with the woolworths deal???

      • +3

Check the exclusions on Qantas store, if not listed then do this:

Buy apple gift cards from Woolworths
(If you can buy gift cards using a credit card that earns qff points)
Add the gift cards to your apple account as credit
Go to the Qantas store, click through to the Apple Store
Buy using your apple credit balance

Purchase is through Apple but you’ll earn additional points for purchasing through the Qantas store

  • Can those be used to pay ‘Apple Care’?

    • -1

      Yes u can :)

      • -1

        Oh damn

        • U will need to load the balance into your apple account

    • +1

      Yes and no.
Yes, you can use Apple Credit to pay for the subscription, month-to-month version of AppleCare+ (albeit at a higher overall cost, which negates the discount of the gift card purchase.).
No, you cannot use Apple Store gift cards for the full once-off payment version of AppleCare+.

It was possible before when Apple wasn't doing the 7-day complementary AppleCare+, and you could load up AppleCare+ in the same cart.

Source: I attempted this when purchasing my MBP in June this year, they wouldn’t allow it in store, via phone or online.

      • -1

Thanks :) I wanted the monthly one coz I’m only pay a year and then sell it

        • +2

100% you can purchase using the apple gift cards instore only.
You can’t use your Apple ID balance to pay for AppleCare on the very first transaction online.
I have done this for the iPhone 14/ Apple Watches etc in the past month.

You cannot buy it the time of product purchase, so not from days 8-60 of owning the iPhone/ iPad/ MacBook etc.

Then, when the AppleCare expires, you can renew using your Apple ID balance, on the day after it expires. Also from experience,

      • I just confirmed this with a senior Apple Staff member in store as I’m planning to buy iPad in the Apple Sale Event this month. They told me you load the Apple Gifts card to your iTunes Apple Account, and you get 7 days complimentary Apple Care that starts when you purchase the device, then you buy the Apple care on the 8th day (they suggested to set a phone reminder), you then purchase Apple Care either in full or monthly and can pay both with the iTunes balance. To note also they mentioned you cannot purchase Apple Care in-store at all anymore as the Australian Government changed the laws around extended warranties / insurance.

        • That was not my experience in August 2022, so I’m intrigued to see if they’ve changed the policy since them. Please update after the 7 days of complementary insurance.

  • +1

The thing thats annoying about carrying an Apple Store balance is that you don't get any kind of statement.
I'd like some history/something like a bank statement so I know what I spend and what the balance was.
    Need to do this manually…

    • Really. OMG Apple need to fix this, it is 2022 not 2002

    • Yea it’s super annoying as the subscription tab only shows what you have bought from the App Store but not physical hardware from the Apple Store.

I just have spreadsheet that I update whenever I use the Apple ID balance.

  • Can this be used to pay for a Disney plus subscription?

  • Are parents still permitted to purchase on behalf of uni students from the education store?

    • There are no checks when purchasing from the online education store. You may be asked for student/staff ID if you purchase in store.

      • +1

Yes my daughter has uni ID. I just prefer to load gift cards on my account and not someone elses. She will be with me when we go to pick up the macbook.

  • Is there any promo from cashrewards or cashback?

    • Not at the moment. Standard 1.5% and 1.2% cashback from CR & SB respectively.

    • New products are not eligible for cashback and you need to wait until it is released. I think Black Friday will bring some good offer.

  • +1

    Obligatory warning from previous post:

Spend your earned Woolworths dollars ASAP if you take advantage of this.

There are significant amounts of fraud in the EDR system.

    • +2

or turn on "Bank for Christmas" until you are ready to spend the WW dollars.

      • How does this work? You can’t access the points until 01/12? Do they then become the same as normal everyday reward dollars? Wouldn’t you still open to fraud or people using your points but a month later?

        • +4

On the Woolworths Rewards app you can toggle on and off "Bank For Christmas". When you toggle it off, the balance becomes available immediately for redemption. Once the shop is done, toggle on "Bank for Chirstmas" to protect the unspent balance.

        • +1

Also, you can't change the setting without your account password and 2FA SMS.
So even if someone has hacked your account (unlikely, the problem is due to only needing the membership number to redeem dollars) they can't take the balance (unless it's December.)

  • +1

Any reason why this deal is so popular? What do people intend to do with the gift cards

Purchase BTO Macs from Apple Store in configurations which would otherwise not be available from retail stores like JBHIFI, nor eligible for the 10% discounts which happen for set configurations.

    • +2

Personally, preload credit for Apple back to school

Buy a Mac/iPad with student discount and get free AirPods

Works out to be over 20% discount depending if you consider free AirPods money back and depends on type of product

      • Yeah, agree. You can also stack with Cashrewards, in some chances it will be another $100 discount.

  • Can I use Woolworths gift card to buy these apple gift cards in Woolworths??

    • +1

      No.

You can give it a try, but I would not expect it to work.

      • -1

I used my Coles gift card to buy my Coles Mastercard on this month. So I am just wondering can I also use Woolworth gift card to buy Apple gift card this time.

        • +1

          Fair enough, but:

          • Woolworths’s checkout system used to let you use Woolworths or WISH gift cards to purchase gift cards up until late 2018, when Woolworths finally thoroughly patched their checkout systems to stop this from happening.

          • The last time you could use Woolworths or WISH gift cards to purchase gift cards at Woolworths was last year during the early trial phase of Everyday Pay. I tried this myself earlier this year when Everyday Pay was more widely rolled out, but by the time that happened, Woolworths disabled the ability to purchase any gift cards through Everyday Pay.

The checkout systems at BIG W and EG are also very locked down (and their checkout systems were developed for Woolworths Group as well), so I cannot suggest a way you can use gift cards from Woolworths Group at those locations to purchase third-party gift cards either. EG even stop you from using physical AmpolCash gift cards to purchase any gift cards at their locations…

Btw, Woolworths even block you from using some prepaid gift cards from purchase some gift cards in their stores (but that does not really apply to Apple gift cards, AFAIK). Additionally, some Woolworths staff will insist you absolutely cannot use any kind of prepaid gift cards to purchase any gift cards in their stores, so you may even have problems using prepaid gift cards as a payment method for Apple gift cards.

@WookieMonster: Can I use apple gift card to shop at JB hifi?

            • +1

@shegeloaf: No. If you want to shop at JB, you're better off waiting for the Ultimate Gift Cards bonus points promo. I used Ultimate Gift Cards at JB to get my iPhone 14 Pro at JB on launch day.

          • +1

            @WookieMonster: Much appreciated, mate

    • You use to years ago but not anymore. I have tried

  • Can we use Coles Mastercard Gift Cards to buy these at woolies? Technically those GCs are nothing but Mastercard
