Orico 2.5" SATA Hard Disk Enclosure Micro USB 3 US$2.62/A$4.15 Delivered @ Orico Official Store Aliexpress

1010
25PW1USD5

I have been waiting to snag some cheap 2.5" SATA enclosures for my mountains of old laptop hard disks and small capacity SSDs.

There's a range of colours and different connections available, however, to me, the cheapest ones will do.

Various colours (some with soft pouches).
Various connections (I have listed the microUSB one with code since my drives won't benefit from USBC).
Orico brand.

As usual, shipping will take a while from Aliexpress, but it's from the Orico Official Store.

Edit: looks like 1 code per account. The next code is 25PW1USD1 and brings it to $5.90 delivered.

This is part of Singles' Day Sales for 2022.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed one

Lowest price is the USB micro b option that has free shipping.
    Good deal.

  • Bought. But anyone else finding things from Aliexpress been taking ages. I still haven't received stuff from months ago. Wasn't there some ban on surface mail coming into australia recently?

    • +2

Depends on what shipping method. The crappy Cainiao one with no tracking takes ages, AliExpress Standard takes under 2 weeks.

    • +1

doubt there's a ban. id imagine it really depends on which container they had it shipped with.
I've had recent purchases arrive in less than 2 weeks from cn… then receive things ive ordered literally more than 3 months ago.

    • I got some Halloween stuff in about 2 weeks.

@meegoreng FYI, I got a bit confused when reading the deal title because IDE and SATA are two different things (IDE being the older of the two interfaces). As a suggestion, because the AliExpress listing only includes SATA enclosures, I think the title would make more sense if 'IDE' was removed.

    • +2

I agree, I thought this was going to be an adapter that accepts an IDE drive - I was going to jump on that (great for retro computing)

    • Yes, please remove "IDE" from the title and description.

      • That had me thrown when it's sata to usb 3 no IDE. Good deal though, picked one up.

    • SATA is a type of IDE. PATA is the type you're thinking of. Both are IDE.

But I agree it doesn't need to be in the title.

Sorry all, i can't edit. But yes, you are correct and thanks for pointing it out as SATA interface only.

  • Thanks. Collected one.

  • Sorry I'm confused, USB C versus USB is just the connection to the computer? Makes no difference otherwise?

  • Thanks OP

  • Any idea which chip they use for it? JMS 576 or 578? 576 wouldn't support SSD well.

How much are we saving VS buying from Australia? Is the wait worth it?

  • The micro USB plugs into the HD enclosure right? The USB 3.0 Plugs into the device?

select one from near the end of the list (micro-b connector)

    • Same result for me, but I prefer a USB-C connector. I can accept paying $10 for it, delivered.

For me, it comes to $10.90.

Thanks OP, ordered one for 72 cents.

  • thanks OP, just ordered one for 3$

Excellent delivery speed - 13 days only (from Malaysia apparently).

Enclosure is well designed, parts join tightly. Outer shell feels incredibly cheap to the touch in that untextured plastic sort of way, but the panel itself is stiff and strong. Very easy to install, and the interface is responsive even with a 5400rpm drive inside.
