    • wow, in penalty box, lots of negs too. take a deep breath.

  • Well you would only use this oil in a toyota if it meets its specs. I use this in my e90 and its great.

      • +5

        Toyota don't make oil

      • Is this supposed to be a bad oil? Castrol have an oil checker and can suggest which one is good for your Toyota

        • +8

This oil is completely fine, the poster you responded to is clueless. As long the oil specifications match those published in your vehicle manual you can safely use it. I've used Castrol, Nulon, Penrite, Supercheap Auto brand and Repco brand over 2 Toyotas (Camry, Prius) and a total of 700,000km of driving with no issues.

@Dogsrule: Yh I thought this was the premium oil castrol make… Think that dude is either trolling or not well informed

            • +2

@Chocobros: Yeah this is good stuff.

Judging by some of their replies here I think the trolling hypothesis is correct.

        • Synthetic and semi synthetic each engine need different oil requirements as per manual

          • @Zonty: Yeah this is full synthetic… Means it can be used in a car stating mineral, semi-synth or full synthetic?

      • +1

Toyota doesn't use Toyota oil, they use ExxonMobil oil:

      • Yep, I understand mate. Oh what a feeling aye?

    • +2

+1 I carry this in my e90 in case for when it starts leaking again

      • +1

hehe - those bloody valve cover gaskets & oil filter housings.

    • Yep, also use in my E90.

  • +1

I have used any Synthetic 5W-30 on special in my Toyotas
    All working fine

    • -5

      Check oil level every week.

      • +2

Only if you have a POS

      • +1

You have a oil burning lemon

        • -3

Castrol's formulas don't work well on Toyota's, ask any mechanic.

        • +1

Yeah trashed his car and blames the oil.

  • +1

I use this in my E90 330i and my Toyota aurion. Both work completely fine and have been working fine for years. The oil is thin enough to not create the sludge issue on the aurion. If you are losing oil like dreamscene says, it’s not because the oil is too thin. It’s because you have a leak or your engine is burning oil and should get a compression test done.

  • Will my 2014 Swift and 2010 Getz die if I use this? I was told this is 'old technology' oil.

    • +2

Should be fine they are old technology cars.

      • Lol

    • What did they say was “new technology”??

    • Your engines will instantly combust the moment you turn the key.

  • believe this is ok for Toyota prado diesel (without DPF)?
    SCA says compatible.

    • +1

      Yes, use it in mine.

      • Thanks. bought 3. In my impression, 5L isn’t enough for one service.

  • I've been using this exact oil for years and the old oil still looks pretty good when it comes out. At this price (which happens a few times a year) there's really no reason to not use a quality full synth oil.

    • How often or km you change oil?

      • I shoot for every 15k.

  • Just bought a new car that happens to take 5W-30. Cheers OP

  • $42 here (41.99). How do you get 41.00? :-)

FYI, the first number (W part) does not matter much in most of Australia, where we don't get "winter" startup temperatures.
5W30 or 10W30 makes no difference. The second viscosity number is the more important one.

    • Thanks, updated.

  • Thanks

Ever since I have been changing my own oil I have been doing it every 5,000 or 6 months on my Camry, will stock up on this

    • That sounds quite frequent

      • Yes, but more because the car takes too many short trips which the manual considers severe conditions..it rarely gets any freeway driving.

  • +1

Remember to pay with discounted giftcards.

  • This suits my vehicle but it's only 5L and my car's oil capacity is 6.1L with filter, or 5.7L without filter.. what to do? Top up with 1L of the old oil?

    • Buy 6 and you have enough for about 5 services. Simple.

      • It's tempting but what's the shelf life for fully synth oil. I believe it's much longer than for mineral oil.

        • Around 2-3 years or so unopened

        • +1

Forever - nobody has been able to prove unused oil degrades over time. I've used a jug of oil I found in the detritus of my garage that was over 7 years oil according to the manufacture date with no ill effects.

          • +2

@Dogsrule: I agree it lasts a long time. I have fully synth oil in my car and the annual change is due (12 months since last change) but I've only done about 4,500km since then. Oil looks clean on the dipstick and not black colour. I will change it at 10,000km even if it takes me 2.5 years to get there. I think the oil will be fine over this time and doesn't need a change just because 12 months is up

            • +2

@x x: As long as those low km's are not caused by short trips, I agree.

            • +2

@x x: Exactly - if it survives in the torture chamber that is an internal combustion engine then it will be perfectly fine in a sealed jug for quite some time. I think your oil change regimen is fine.

            • +3

@x x: Oil degrades in the crankcase overtime, a lot faster than in the sealed bottle.

My suggestion for the low price of oil and filter, not worth the risk. Change at least once a year.

  • I'm amazed how I did like 1 oil change and no new tyres all the way through covid years. Oh yeah, govt, big brother, big (p)harma, luminatee etc buggered my business, income, my children's dreams… Looking forward to the election.
