Western Digital My Book Live Duo 4TB $370 at JW Computers (Bankstown Home Central)

60

This is my first post and I hope this can help some of OB users.

Today I was shopping with my wife in Baby'R'Us for my baby girl at Bankstown Home Central at Chapel Road, Bankstown NSW and got bored so I went next door where there is a J W Computers store. I've been there before and I remember the prices wasnt attractive at all but because I was in a market to buy a WD My Book Live Duo 4TB so I went in to check this place out again. I was surprise that I found one on the shelf and the price was $420 which is the best price in Sydney I think including eBay. I've done many days of research to find the best price and the best I can find is Penta Group (link below) for $453.

After a good 20-30 mins of negotiation, I finally got it for $370. Happy Happy.

I like to mention that the one I brought was last one on the shelf but it wasn't a special price clearance. It is a general stock by the looks of it as most of the larger item they stock only one on the shelves. so I guess they will restock them. Maybe they had more at the back which i didnt ask.

Anyway, good luck OBers!!

I have the Mybook Live 3TB from last year, around $200 shipped. Been keeping an eye on Amazon prices for the 4TB and 6TB Duo. The 4TB goes for USD$350 and 6TB goes for USD$445. Neither is available for shipping to Australia. The $370 price you got is fantastic. Congrats!

    • Thanks!! I've also looked at Amazon as well but they dont ship to Oz. The RRP is A$499 on WD website and I find it very hard to pay $4oo-$450 being a bargain hunter. Even some US online store that ship to here, the cost with postage is more then A$400 and also sending back to US if any warranty issues.

Personally I think this is expensive and not a bargain at all…

    • YES……..it may not be a bargain for the tech savvy or people wants more out of NAS but to amateur like myself, the features and benefits of this just right for my usage. I also believe its expensive but at the end of the day, it is the convenience that I'm paying for. And also its how YOU to define "bargain". If you define a product has to be big bang for it's bucks as bargain then this is not a bargain. I personally thinks it is NOT a bargain even Apples doing 20% discount on Macbook Pros.
