      Apple Tax and Apple Design.

For people using Apple's MacOS, this trackpad is much more useful than Magic Mouse. Large smooth glass touch surface with multiple finger gesture controls. It is really useful for drawing and design applications (e.g. Figma),

To be honest, it is overpriced. But there is no equivalent alternative that provides all functions from Magic Trackpad.

lol you clearly don’t use one. I have one and use it daily. It’s readily available for my left hand while MX Master 3 to my right.

3 finger drag is magic. I don't own this trackpad but use 3 finger drag on my MacBook Pro

          • -5

@nhutty: 😀 so is $150 price tag justified for a 3 finger drag?

            • @shegeloaf: Personally I wouldn't buy it, but I'm just saying 3 finger drag is very good on Mac's. I was surprised when I prefer to use trackpad only on my MacBook and not my Logitech mx anywhere 3.

              • +1

@nhutty: 3 finger drag is a game changer.
I have a work-supplied magic mouse and fantom (well, accidental) clicking is super frustrating.
Track pad on the lappy is great, would love a standalone track pad, but still can't justify it at $150.

        • Congrats? Magic Mouse and Apple keyboard are horrible. The trackpad is for way more than scrolling lol. It is 100% a waste of money using it for scrolling. You get one for the gestures. Gestures on the Magic Mouse and my MBP trackpad are beyond useful. If you think so little of the trackpad, I doubt you use it on a regular or professional environment. Like I wouldn’t see any value or justify the price in a personal environment.

      • can you set macros on it? want to plays games on my macbook lmao

If you can recommend an alternative that works as well as these do for a competitive price ($40 is stupid) then I’d be all over it.

Apple trackpads are best of breed (on or off a laptop).

        • +3

A trackpad has much better ergonomics when compared to a mouse. Will save your hand over long term use.

        • +4

          99.9% do not need it

          Nobody’s suggesting it’s a necessary item.

I guess it depends how much time you spend in front of a screen. I spend the bulk of my days near every day using a pointing device and keyboard.

Given that, a premium trackpad has a unique value proposition.

Wow man chill out. Go outside, enjoy your weekend, your time is precious.. not worth dying on this arbitrary hill

        • You don’t sound like you do anything productive though.

    • I have one, along with a keyboard. They are both in a locker, so I won't buy it even if it's <$40.
Actually I don't know how to position the keyboard and trackpad to use them. I'm using my MacBooks' ones. Could not use external mouses (Apple's or Logitech MX Master) either

    • I failed to find a third party replacement. So purchased one…

    • lol, you'd have to pay me to use any other trackpad than this.

I’m convinced Apple haters don’t know how to spell properly.

      • +3

dude was too mad to spell properly

      • What word do you think they spelt incorrectly?

    • You sound like you’d believe anything you read on Facebook.

    • Must not upset the cult…

  • +6

Yes it’s overpriced but all Apple products are, still a great touchpad

    • +1

If there is an equivalently capable and reliable product available at a better price, I’d LOVE a link. I couldn’t find one. And if there’s nothing comparable on the market it’s hard to be angry about it being overpriced. It’s not like the technology is prohibitively difficult to build a clone. But nobody seems able to do so at a better price.

I looked at a bunch of the alternate products on the market. Most of them are either outright garbage, don’t work for shit, or are very nearly as expensive and nowhere near as good.

  • +1

Good deal for this product. I was tempted to buy one recently but decided to just use the surface of my Magic Mouse for scrolling.

If you buy this with BetterTouchTool, you can create custom touch shortcuts using 4 types of input:

1- touch position: center, 4 corners
2- number of fingers: from 1 to 5
3- touch depth: light touch or force touch
    4- gesture: swipe, rotate

Then you could assign custom shortcuts and actions either global or per app basis such as “force touch bottom left corner to resize current window to bottom left” or “3 finger swipe up and down to resize photoshop brush “

    Have fun imagining

I’m sorry for overpricing. Enjoy the discount!

    • +4

      No you're not

    • +2

Hey Tim Apple, can you make the 10th gen iPad the same price as the 9th gen please?

  • I just bought one thanks to original post. It's a good deal and needed to replace my old magic trackpad V1 and magic mouse V2. I love a mouse but time to get real…

  • +1

I only wished it had USB-C on its end for charging, but at least the cable has USB-C.
Had the OG Magic Trackpad but did not like the AA battery arrangement so sold that for something better. This is better and I prefer it over any mouse (except for gaming).

People should try stop defending big greedy corps just cause you use their brand, I using a lot of brand stuff, doesn’t mean I support their practice

    Don’t be too sheep aye

    • +1

Is this a reply to a specific comment?

      • Anyone anywhere who keeps arguing for big companies who gives no crap about you but money

        • The only people arguing are the ones crying about how it’s too expensive. Opinions like that aren’t welcome because they are only designed to start arguments.

        • Please apply this evenly and complain about other corps -eg. supermarkets, Microsoft, Amazon

    • -4

The sheep are down voting enmasse. Strong signs of herd mentality

      • +6

The only sheep are the ones who keep repeating “too expensive, baa”.

      • Yeah, the naysayers are more than happy to use misinformation and apply rules unevenly.

Maybe, it's upper brain functions shutting down as they clearly feel extreme angry toward Apple.

They then play the victim card. It's just a pathetic and sad display.

It seems many of them would be upset at people driving luxury cars or using anything beyond the basics.

        • "extreme anger tiwards apple" come on… Its a little derision, nothing more.

    • If you can make a better glass multitouch trackpad for less, why don't you?

  • if you learn all the gestures this thing will increase your productivity by alot and also more ergo than a mouse.

  • How well will this work on windows?

  • Thanks, just picked one up. If you’re in the ecosystem this is a very good buy, not sure if it works as well in Windows, but it feels more fluid than a mouse on Mac (comparing to MX master 3)

  • Does it come in black?

  • Well that was fast, already received mine.
