  • Indeed, acknowledged as best in dark but not so for bright environments - pink tint sheds “excellent colours.”

QD OLED are brighter, so, instant win in bright rooms.

        • Oh you meant against LCDs? Eh, they have so many drawbacks, why not just pick for the environment you're going to watch shows and movies in (usually in the dark or at night).

          • @jasswolf: I'm saying that group chose QD-OLED over WOLED because it was brighter. Vincent Teoh (and many others, including RTING) commented on pink tint in other videos. It's more than mere distraction, it causes inaccuracy.

            • @AlexF: I'm aware that there's a pink tint due to the lack of a polariser, I'm just saying it's not a reason to pick another OLED.

In the end, you should be picking this or the A95K in Australia unless you've got a very specific use case that demands an LCD television. LG's Dolby Vision execution - as well as the state of most Dolby Vision content - is not good enough to swing you towards that.

              • @jasswolf:

it's not a reason to pick another OLED.

so… inaccuracy is a lit room - whence most people would watch this TV - isn't enough to chose WOLED instead? I thought colour accuracy (and contrast) is the reason for choosing OLED.

                • @AlexF: * in

                • @AlexF: It's a slight pink tint vs lower colour volume, brightness and crappier ABL.

  • Picture quality doesn't get better than this, without spending about 2x.

Just be careful to have a very soft, large high surface to lay it down as the TV is stupidly thin, that's one of the catches.

"The Samsung S95B OLED and the LG C2 OLED deliver a somewhat similar experience, but they each stand out in different ways. Colors are significantly brighter on the Samsung, and it can display a wider color gamut with HDR content. Skin tones look better on the Samsung, but some colors look a bit unnatural at times. On the other hand, the LG has better black levels in rooms with a bit of natural light, whereas the Samsung is really best enjoyed in a completely dark room. The LG supports Dolby Vision, and it delivers a slightly more accurate HDR experience."

  • Are you allowed to claim the $200 cashback with this, T&C says full ticket price needed

    • I think you can claim cashback, as long as you pay the amount its selling for even after discount. But ofcourse check with Good Guys.

    • YMMV, but a couple of weeks ago I picked up the 65" which was on sale at the time, then negotiated another $70 off that price instore and still had my $200 RealCash claim approved. As you noted though this potentially is at odds with the T&Cs.

  • Thanks for sharing. How do I find out about how to claim $200 realcash & $70 storecash? thanks

I just bought the LG G2 83" OLED for 7596 via phone to TGG. Absplute bargain.

  • How are the Good Guys with tv issues / returns? Is JB better (or worse)?

    • +1

They were good for me when I discovered the TV I bought recently had a scratch on the frame. Just took a while to process exchange in store, was there for 30 min.
