I wonder which company actually manufacturers these televisions. Is it just manufactured by some generic manufacturer in China and just given the Linsar brand slapped on it. If so then don't expect quality.

    • +10

Probs same who made the blaupunkt tv i got for like 400 , still going strong

      • -1

Yes well. Probably the same company which made the Bauhn 70" 4K webOS TV sold at ALDI for $599. Just manufacturer a TV at the lowest cost and quality possible and slap whichever brand name on the TV to any company which wants it. In other words it's probably exactly the same crappy TV with just another brand name on it made by the same manufacturer.

guy asks a completely valid question and gets downvoted lol

protip. look at the OSD and you'll find they're all largely the same and you'll find multiple companies using similar firmware

a quick look on globalsources shows a slew of companies that are meaningless to even a mainland china person

Shenzhen Safety Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.
Yidong Xing (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd.
          Shenzhen Songzhi Multimedia Co., Ltd.

these are three i could find… there's heaps more

if you order a few container loads they will stamp them Kogan Blaupunkt FFalcon Changhong Who Flung Dung etc. your call

as regards to quality… i have some no name DICK SMITH ones still going… you know the mob who went out of business a decade ago

      ODM supplied.

Would you prefer a genuine non generic manufacturer in China?

      A Palsonic or a Sorny? 🤷🏾

      • +4

        Quality Sorny!

      • Neither. A Carnivale

        • +1

I hope it has a durable outer casing to prevent Fallapart™!

    • +1

Almost all of the chinese sourced 'no name' TVs are rather good these days - they're usually last generation TCL panels.

WebOS is also a nice surprise; open source and 2nd fastest boot times (after Vidaa) if you plan to just connect to a media device.

    • -1

If you want to know if its crap quality - last time I check one - YES!

  • Can't wait until OLEDs are at this price point…. probably in 50 years lol

    • +14

It's likely that OLED TVs won't even be around in 10 years time let alone 50 years. Some other technology will replace it. Just like how no company makes Plasma TVs any more.

      • +3

        This is true….

      • +2

We wont have TVs, we will all be wearing our 16k augmented reality glasses with whatever we want showing on the wall.

        • 16k OLED contact lenses. Just blink 3 times to turn on/off.

      • +3

Yes and no, I can't predict the future but OLED gets us all the way down to discrete pixels with infinite contrast. I think we'll be iterating on this tech for decades.

I can guarantee modular panel wall displays will surge in popularity at some point. Projection will keep progressing and dropping in price. Samsung will no doubt release an Edge panel at some point, and I'll buy it in memory of my s7e..

VR/AR virtual displays are the only technology I can think of that could replace OLED, by virtue of a full paradigm shift in how we consume media.

        • -3

Your "guarantee" is very silly. You don't know any more about the future, than any other ozbargainer.

          • +4

@clandestino: No I actually can guarantee it, you see I am the telly wizard

        • OLED's burn mark issue is a major reason I'd still go for a mini LED.

      • Isn't mini LED replacing OLED in the high end TVs?

        • +5

not the same technology and whilst better than standard led, doesn't hold a candle to OLED

        • Nope, QD-OLED is phasing out due to thev:red glow' issue for miniLED, but pure OLED still reigns supreme.

        • No, you're probably thinking of MicroLED.

          • @KARMAAA: bruh, trans dimensional subatomic led's the new high spec

    • +1

They are if you are happy to import one.
We saw JBs etc bring in the generics last year (Metz etc). At the start of the year a 70 OLED was $750 delivered (1 unit).

    Mount it in the bog.

Anyone heading in to pick one up tomorrow hit me up, I got one of those 30 off 100$ in-store spend codes the other day and there's absolutely nothing I could be stuffed using it on. But it has to be used in store, won't work online.

    Edit: claimed

That's cheaper than calling tradie to fix my broken wall 🧱 😕

  • +1

Been cheaper on eBay for the last few weeks. Had also been cheaper this week using the good guys deal25 code

  • Are these any good / decent for the price? or better off spending more for better quality even if a bit smaller?

    • +1

i have two linsars bought pre covid and are STILL going… used every day

my partner uses the 50 for her bullshite and I have a 55 on my ps5

  • Can anyone confirm if this uses a Zilog Z80 or MOS Technology 6510 CPU for the OS?

    • I think it uses an illudium q-36 modulator

    • Have some faith; this uses the m68k @ a blazing 8mhz.

    Upscaling FTA non existent?

    Energy specs?

    • 220w

  • does this have tv antenna port?

    Inputs: 3 x HDMI, 2 x USB

  • I shouldnt really spend on this but i really want to. 70" tele is pretty damn nice

  • +2

I collected mine last night. Got 15% TCB cashback too.

    • Does it have any motion smoothing settings? How's the sound on it?

  • Good for playing switch?

    • Should be fine if theres a dedicated "Game" mode to reduce latency. Just don't expect great contrast but everything else should be fine

    • If it's better than 20fps, sure

  • -1

If I was after a TV to put in an outdoor patio/pergola area I would go with something like this. If it gets stolen or weather damaged at least it won't hurt the pocket as much. Hook some cheap speakers/soundbar up to it and it'll be good to go.

    • Would really depend on the space. The common drawback with these cheaper TVs is that they’re (relative to more expensive sets) quite dim

      • This 300 odd watts max. Will be plenty bright enough.

        • Do you mean nits? 300 nits is pretty dim in a sunlit area.

          • @jackary: I couldn't find the nits value. So no idea.
Just 380w max. So figured that 380w is going somewhere. I went into the settings and turned up the backlight. Looked more than bright enough to me vs a TCL model (labelled as 260w max) didn't have the same peak.
The standard back light is over driven in my opinion (all the OEMs are).
Drop it down 70% (if your room isn't too bright).
Energy usage drops to a 1/3, blacks look much better.
But being 70", the backlight isn't uniform to the middle (brighter on the edges).

        • +1

          It's 380 Watts max.

The specs are listed on the product page.

          https://linsar.com.au/product/70-4k-uhd-smart-webos-tv/

No mention of the peak brightness there or in the user manual. I wonder why.

Picked up the last one at Capalaba today , 10% shopback at good guys today , can't complain 70" tv for $540 , set up and does everything I need , thanks for the bargain OP .

    • Yes. But the real test is longevity. How long will it last before packing it in. Will it say break just after the 3 years warranty is over.

      • +2

people don't seem to care for longevity much these days.

the number of comments on things like bread knife deals where folks pop in and say i've had one of these for five years and still going strong as though a handful of years is a good service life for a blade

        • +1

We still have our Hoover refrigerator and LG washing machine, both over 20 years and zero repairs needed.
