Silicon Power P34A60 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD $79 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C/ $20 off with mVIP) @ Mwave

130

Decent burst read / write at around 1500 - 2000 MB/S

No DRAM cache.

TLC.

Struggles with sustained writes (1TB model will probably do slightly better than the model shown in the graph).

Cheap though!

DRAMless = slower performance and relatively shorter lifespan = not worth it.

You're not saving enough over a normal ~$100 unit to make it worthwhile.

WD SN570, Samsung 980 (non-Pro), WD SN750 SE, SN770, XBox Series S|X, PS5 are all DRAMless SSDs. So, they all shouldn't be purchased?

How many people can name usage patterns where DRAMless SSDs struggle? Out of those, how many do we normally use? Furthermore, if HMB is used (which uses RAM on the PC, console), does that really cause an issue?

So far, all my SSDs which died are all SSDs with DRAM. Yes, we prefer SSDs with DRAM, but DRAMless SSDs have their uses and are generally fast enough. Would you rather a SATA SSD with DRAM but average NAND or a DRAMless NVMe SSD with average NAND?

P.S. I didn't neg your comment. I don't really see a need to neg a comment even if I don't quite agree with it.

      • In theory the dramless is more reliable due to less parts to fail.

It seems cheap at first, but once you add the postage into the mix, we are looking at $90. The sustained write issue is partially due to aggressive SLC cache recovery.

The 5 year warranty is good, but it will most likely be through the seller. Kinda keen to know how good MWave's after sale service is.
