  • Can someone out there who cares enough about the picture qualiity to get a mini-LED, but at the same time doesn't care enough about the size of the TV to only get a 55" let me know why you care about the picture quality so much but not the size of the picture? Not being facetious, genuinely want to know what people's thoughts are. The last few people I knew that told me they couldn't fit a bigger TV in their room, when I saw their room I couldn't see why they couldn't fit one, and that's the only reason I've heard so far.

      • 3.2m distance = 75". So some people hanging the TV in their 2x2 bathroom so they can watch on the toilet?

I have a 55" and I've held out until now for 75" tvs to come down. I just measured and at the nearest point on my couch i am still 3.5m away. Maybe I should have picked up an 85?

        • +1

Hold out a little longer and go the 85 imo

    • Probably they used to what the have… that I have the same situation! My 12 old plasma is 55" so I thought the 65C835 will be great but then my friend (who recenlty upgraded from 45" to 70") told me go for 75" that I feel man it's goona take over my wall! (i'm in a 2 bedroom unit)

Comparing the size recommendation from rtings to other manafacturer's (LG/Sony/Samsung) it seems rtings's rercommend distance is further away than the brands.

Anyone can share their experience on a 75" sitting about 2.7m away?

      • 12 year old 55 Plasma, you might have my TV, the great Panasonic VT60. I still use it, and have to say that it's disappointing TVs these days don't have 3d, but that's a rant for another time.

I get that brands would probably recommend bigger and therefore more expensive TVs with bigger margins, but if even rtings is telling peopel ideally they should go bigger, how does 55" in this day and age make an "upgrade" when even 75" can be had for less money than this (albeit not miniLEDs).

How are these with motion blur? For me I have had to look hard for TV’s in the past that will cope well with motion in scenes like those of lots of horses running in Lord of the Rings battle scenes. I even went to the point of walking around stores with clips on a USB stick to test.

    • I don't notice any motion blur on mine

    • +1

Got the 75C835 - have pretty much turned off motion blur settings. It's OK with them on if you don't mind 'soap opera' effect.

      • +2

yea i turn off all that crap off too ;)

  • No screen burn in, great, had enough of my oled anyway

  • how do i link the wallet? i signed up for it but in the checkout it just mentions to sign up for it… XD do i have to then purchase on my phone?

  • +4

Just pulled the trigger on the 75C835, although it is backorder and to be delivered by 29/11.

    Paid $2291 ($2236 + delivery $55)
TGG cashback $300 (surprisingly it has been approved)
TCL Visa gift card $200 (to be claimed)
Shopback traced $152.45 (got an email)
Store Cash $70 (pending. If it traced automatically)

So all up it costs me $1638.55. I reckon it's a pretty decent deal.

    • +1

how did u get TGG cashback $300?

      • I think $300 cashback is for 75"

        • so u can get $300 cashback and the FRENZY discount aswell?

          • @zorodluffy: I guess so? But I’d suggest read the T&C’s on The Good Guys page & the TCL promotion

    • Amazing price. How did you get it for $2,236?

    • Hello,

Sorry, has the TGG cashback been confirmed?? How did you know you got the 300 back? I just called TGG and they said it's one or the other, u either get the cashback or the frenzy discount, did it work for you then? How did u get the 300?

    • Product page says "Bonus Offer $200 Cash Back". This is to match the TCL offer and typically won't stack.

How did you get $300 cash back?

      • Go to the promotion part of the web site on the main page, enter your invoice number, it shows you the realcash offer, select that, enter your email address and away you go.

Just did it and it was accepted! Now to see if they pay up!

The $200 TCL offer and the $300 realcash offer are separate and both apply to the 75c835. As wll as the 20% frenzy, $70 storecash and shopback.. too good to be true? We shall see.

Edit: just got shopback of 101.64, which I think Is 4%, but after speaking to their support that should go to 6% in the next few days ( Banner said till 8pm but the site was showing 6pm )

        • For me it says The Docket or web number you entered is not valid, or not eligible for any bonus offers. Pity..wouldve been a great deal.. will have to confirm and cancel the order tomorrow

          • @shaidas: Looks like I was wrong.. their system has been down so the invoice was not generated and I could not claim the realcash or the 70 dollars in store credit..contacted to cancel order..invoice sent..I claimed the 300 via a bank transfer and got a claim form within an hour which I have filled with bank details. Cashback was confirmed when I placed the order so 300 for realcash, 101 (4% cash back), 200 ( from TCL in TGG store credit, if I get a serial number and invoice before 21 days which I should), 70 dollars TGG voucher from TGG.. 1500 something odd delivered on the Frenzy code.. works for me.. more than likely Black Friday will be a straight 1500 something or may not..but at 1500 something for this TV 75 inches delivered goodness…dayum.. no complaints here

Edit..actually 1600 something which includes 270 in TGG gift cards.. still pretty happy even if Black Friday offers a better deal .. that is phenomenal

            • @shaidas: I am still having problem viewing the digital invoice.. is there a phone number you can call to get them send you the invoice? All I can see was "write us message" on their website…

Paid $1,200 for mine last week for the bedroom but the image quality is pretty good. It works great with the PS5. Not better than the LG CX in the lounge in terms of black levels and colours but I don’t think the LG being 2x more expensive when I bought it is 2x better. Also the speakers on the C835 is probably the best I heard for a built in TV.

  • Hmm I just ordered a Hisense 65 U7HAU for $970 (after tgg 70 cashback). Worth getting this instead for $1300 ish?

On paper the Hisense seems similar, even better in most specs (except local dimming zones I assume since this one is mini LED). Don't have time to go back to a store to compare since the Hisense is scheduled to come tomorrow. Anyone with greater Tv knowledge have some insights?

    • i think this has better OS, google tv.

not sure about the other specs tho

      • Good point. Seems like it likely has significantly better speakers too. I plan to use a Chromecast and external speakers so not so much of a factor for me.

    • +2

Based on my own research, the TCLs are better spec'd than Hisense equivalents in this price bracket - and not to mention Hisense tends to have different models for different regions, making them difficult to compare.

I believe the U7HAU used a 8 bit panel + FRC to emulate 10 bits colours, whereas C835 uses a true 10 bits panel.
And then you have more local dimming zones (TCL has 240 at 55" vs 90 zones for the 65" U7H: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/d23e2c79 - if anything the AU spec could be inferior)
Refresh rate is higher for TCL (144Hz) vs Hisense's 120Hz

But I know nothing about durability or usability - although i have seen a few good reviews on YT about the C835: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORg5dkb_ggs

      • Tricky one. At least they're including AU in the product codes now. I'll have to have a think about it, hard to put a $ figure pm those differences in colour and local dimming..

    • +2

I avoid Hisense TVs in Australia as it is a gimped model compared to those reviewed in the US. We are missing out on a bunch of features

    • +1

      835 more comparable to U8H.
If Hisense had enough sense to give us Google TV I might have gone with that.

      • With the mini LED makes sense. I decided against u8h for similar price (1300) ish so makes sense to stick to my guns I think. Thanks for the input

  • Bought the TCL 55C835 last week from TGG. It's amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Online and store price was $1295.
Dropped to $1165 by sales rep.
Used a Macquarie Marketplace gift card to save $30.
TGG offered a store cash of $70.
TCL promotion gives a Cashback of $100.

Total cost after above stack was $965. This deal by OP is even more sweeter. One ‘hack’ to use is to Nego with the sales rep on the floor and also check with TGG on call if they can do better. Worked for me YMMV.

  • So the 20% off and TCL cash back can be used together?

This would bring it down to $2036 for the 75 inch….Doubt black Friday would be any better?

Edit: does TGG put a limit on number of gift cards? Could essentially stack this with the Woolworths gift card offer tomorrow

    • Better than that, can do the $300 realcash as well. Have had it approved even tho it would seem to be against the T&C.

The TCL cashback is from TCL so shouldn't care what you pay to GG or other discounts.

As well as shopback and the storecash , its crazy cheap. I didn’t do gift cards, doh!

      • every chance that $300 realcash can be withdrawn? especially because the 75 is in backorder

        • You can choose between Visa gift card and bank transfer.

        • Ordered mine as pickup from Dandenong VIC ( not my closest store ), said it was in stock. Think its backorder for the online store, though they dont make it easy to tell.

Anything is possable, ive been taking screenshots all the way along in case. If the $300 isnt applicable to the frenzy then they shouldnt be advertising both on the page.

All that said up untill a few days ago the 75 was 2490ish so they did mark up in preparation for this sale..

          • @exxoz: Seems my 1 hour click and collect order is now "back ordered" so much for there being stock in dandenong!

        • I'm cautious the $300 is gonna be withdrawn but strange they advertise both on the price page.

I might just do the woolies gift card plus frenzy plus TCL cash back.

    • Their website says you can use max of 2 GC online, and no limit in store.

  • You cant actually use the store cash for this purchase can you?

  • I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use shopback for the 4% - can someone explain pls?

  • Would the Cashback offer in this deal be a better option than Shopback?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735589

Not sure if I'm missing any advantage of Shopback over Cashback.

    • +1

Yep comes out a tiny bit better at $871 given the $75 cap on CR.

  • +2

Was about to hit purchase but read the TCL cash back details on the TCL site and it mentions if you purchase from TGG they give you a TGG gift card instead of a visa gift card? Same for Harvey Norman.

    • +1

That's what they told me when I inquired. It's TGG gift card

      • Pulled the trigger on the 55" for a new gaming/sports TV for study and don't really mind if it means I have $170 TGG credit all up, have used them a few times for various items where they had the best pricing at the time with promotions and the like

Some will obviously prefer being able to spend the cashback dollars elsewhere so probably be good if it's made clear before people buy from a retailer and expecting to be able to either get a cashback to their account or a use anywhere prepaid card

  • 65" is the same price as well @ $1395 before any discounts. Wondering what is the difference besides screen size ?

EDIT: never mind, found it. No TCL gift card on this model.

    • That is also a C825 rather than C835, not sure what the difference is

  • Thanks!
I ordered 75" C835 today at in-store because not able to online order near my area.
Almost same as @davidl820 except CR sadly.😭
I tried negotiating using CR 10% cashback offer today but failed.

    Paid $2,626 (TV $2,236 + Concierge 5yrs $335 + Delivery $55)
    Cashback estimated $590
    TGG realca$h $300(Confirmed) bank transfer
TCL cashback $200(Not yet, Needs S/N and receipt) digital VISA
Storecash $90(Not yet, I'm a concierge gold member)

I paid by Ultimate Home GCs that I bought 10% off priced.

Actually, I paid $2,363.4($2,626×0.9) and will be received $590 cashback.
It costs me $1,773.4. Very nice deal to me even I missed CR $75 but I paid by GC that 10% off.

It will be delivered tmr, I already received msg from TGG.

    • Cash rewards has a max $75 cap on it so your$590 cashback may come down quite a bit

      • Mine does not included CR cashback…

        • Ohhhh I misread I thought when you said $590 cashback you were referring to CR above

          • @knobbs: It's okay but reminds me I couldn't get CR 10%… sore…😞

            • +1

@choory: Nice deal, even better you will have it delivered tomorrow. Mine is still TBA 😞

  • Realcash offer has now disappeared from website

    • Yep from memory it was listed as finishing on the 9th.

    • Yes, finished yesterday.

  • +1

    FYI, someone applied realca$h.
I bought 75" C835 from in-store yesterday and received TV this morning and also received $300 in my bank account today. Super fast!

  • anyone elses purchases did not track with shopback? I submitted a claim on shopback and it is pending, says itll be avaialble by 8 april 2023, wtf.

  • Just received mine today from this deal, my local store didn’t have stock so I had to get it delivered with Toll, plugged it in and completely smashed, any advice on what I can do? The box looked like it’s been beaten around 😞

    • wow. What do you mean smashed? The screen was smashed, or do you mean the outside of the box? No idea what to do as I haven't ordered a TV online before. Do you contact Toll or The Good Guys?

      • The box looks as tho it has been dropped a number of times, when I got it out of the box I seen a mark travelling across the screen but I was just thinking it was the plastic, turned it on without removing the plastic and it has two corners smashed and it won’t even display a picture, I’ve email toll and the good guys, so annoyed 😒

        • +1

Keep us updated on how it goes. That sucks :(. I hope it gets resolved in a timely manner for you.

          • @Ice009: Refunded at my local store luckily, knew most the staff so that made it easier, they said they wouldn’t send any tv with toll from my local store tho most the Sydney stores do. They couldn’t get one in stock for a long time so I’m waiting out till Black Friday sales to get them to price match a c2 lg Oled. Good experience in the end, the tv was so badly smashed it wouldn’t even display a picture.

            • @Chipotleclearance: Well at least it's resolved. Did you initially choose this over an OLED? What made you choose this in the first place? I'm a bit worried about burn in with the OLED as lots of sport and ESPN is watched with the score tracker that they have on the bottom of the screen.

What size C2 are you looking at? And what is the price match going to be?

I've been looking at the TCL C835, Sony A80J, LG CS, Samsung QN90B and Samsung S95B (all in 55", but a few of those are out of my price range even with Black Friday pricing). No idea what to get. I initially started the search as I am buying the TV for my parents as theirs failed a few weeks ago, but then I thought maybe I should upgrade mine to an OLED (I still have a Panasonic Plasma (last version released) and am still pretty happy with it) and am still trying to decide what to do. I should have just bought the TCL C835 at this price, though, and with the TCL cashback on top, I don't think any BF deals will beat it :(.

  • I only got 4% instesd of 6% cashback from shopback.

I ordered on 8/11 4pm. But did not click and collect until a few days later when it was ready for pickup.

Is the shopback 8/11 8pm deadline, for when i placed the order? Or when i collected
