Similar to the previous digidirect ebay sale for the X-H2 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734186 except with the bonus of a 5% cashreward cashback!

I was in the market for a X-T5 but was pleasantly surprised to see the X-H2 was significantly cheaper (albeit it is larger/slighty heavier and has PASM dials)

  • I thought the XT-5 release is 17/11, it may be cheaper once it's been released.

    • pre-orders are pretty much 3k, unless youre expecting a sale? in favour of the dials and screen tho

      • I think it is quite safe to assume the pricing and discount timeline will be quite similar to X-H2 too. The X-H2 is also only released not long ago but we already have good offers, so fingers crossed I'm hoping we have good offer for XT5 as part of next month's boxing day offer

        • fair enough mate, i tried to preorder through digidirect but they've told me they oversold so am currently waiting for refund, might just hold out instead of ordering elsewhere, 3k is pretty dear as i've always bought 2nd hand units,

I am hoping they have Christmas introductory offer for XT5
Something like cashback or redemption offer from Fuji would be great

    • Unfortunately, I don't think so. The required chips and electronics are not available to manufacture on a large scale. See the Canon R5/R6 models. As they have been released they were almost 1 year out of stock or only available on RRP.

      • Yeah that's also a factor…. Might just need to see what promotions the sellers have for boxing day then

I think the X-H2 is a great camera and even the X-T4 is quite good. If you have some time and you would like to buy the X-T5, I believe you need to be a little bit patient or buy the RRP at the beginning. Nevertheless, Fuji is a great camera brand and making the market more competitive. Sony's lenses and cameras are too expensive and I do not like the colors.

          • @[Deactivated]: I bought an X-H2S the week it came out for 20% off via Digidirect eBay. They are nuts over there or have a great tax loophole

            • @hyperfuzz: What price did you end up paying for it, $3199 or lower?

              • +1

@ChatGPT-4: slightly higher than that but not by heaps. I see you can get one from Camerapro for that right now but I needed the camera ASAP and was happy with the price.

no doubt the X-T5 will be up on their eBay stores at a 20% discount if you're hanging for one. good cameras though.

Oh no! Missed the cashback :(. Bought one last week when Digi had the 20% eBay sale. Ordered Thursday and camera arrived Monday. Was a bit doubtful with Digi's recent practice of collecting orders without stock and getting lengthy delays, thankfully this was not the case.

Coming from the XT3, I took some time to get used to the PASM dial. But my Nikon memory kicked in pretty soon and it is all good now :) Haven't properly went out for a shoot exclusively, hopefully over the weekend. Initial impressions of image quality (tested with XF 33mm F1.4) are stellar.

    What made me upgrade:

Although I like the XT3, I always felt the grip is small. Having the battery grip (too heavy) or the metal hand grip (doesn't feel great) was not helping. But this one is pure joy to hold. The ergonomics of this camera is brilliant. Feels like a part of your hand (at least for me). Larger/heavier lenses (50-140, 16-55) feels pretty great on this camera body.

XT3 autofocus was a bit less reliable. I haven't got the time to check the full auto focus capability of the XH2, but front yard shooting of birds was quite fun. Subject recognition is pretty decent (cars, birds, pets). I haven't used the benchmark products in this category (Sony/Canon), but it is a definite improvement from the XT3.

    Couple of things to note:

    1. The package does not come with a battery charger, for first time use, you will have to charge the battery inside the camera. They provide a cable. I dont know whether this was the same with XT4. Both of them use the same battery. I bought an extra battery as well as the Fujifilm dual charger with it. There are 3rd party chargers available.

    2. You need a CFexpress Type B card to get the full capability of this camera - and they are expensive. Consider this expense in your purchase. There is a deal going on in Amazon US for a Lexar Gold card for around $210. Prograde Digital (Cobalt) also available around $275. You might also want to buy a CFexpress card reader.

    3. pal2tech in YouTube is a good resource to start your XH2 journey.

    • Do you have any existing Nikon lenses as well? I saw that you can use Nikon lenses with adapter

      • +1

I have a very old one. Nikon 100mm F2.8 E Series. Fully manual focus. Lens is probably older than me :) I use it with a K&F Concept adapter.

        • Im waiting to try my old Nikon with the Fuji too, just waiting foe Black Friday/Boxing day deal lol

  • Can anyone explain why to get this APS-C sensor camera rather than a full frame? I am not trolling, just curious since $3000 is a lot of money for an APS-C.

    • +1

It is actually. The Sony A7 III or even IV but especially III with cashback offers much better value to be honest, especially if you are not into super high res video recording.

I like Fuji mostly for their feel and the film colour simulation.

If you like lots of room for post processing the full frame is definitely better. I watched comparison video, Sony is a bit better in ISO performance too

      • Do you know which is cheaper when you factor in a few equivalent lenses? Like sure the body is cheaper, but I thought FF lenses were more expensive compared to their APS-C counterpart.

    • Personally, I think this camera is more for existing Fuji users who wants to upgrade.
If you are not one then there is no reason to go with this over a similar price full-frame.
Sony lenses are way more expensive though.

      • That Sony A7 III is a steal at current price

  • Grab a XH2 on XT5's release day. XH2 is on 20% off from Ebay but XT5 pre-order without any discount. So far so good. Enjoy the camera. The released price for XT5 is not good. Considering purchase a Sony A7M4 on BF.
