Still ridiculous Disney won't put IMAX enhanced on disc. I'm holding out on Disney releases until they do.

    • You can stream IMAX versions of some movies on Disney online.

We recently watched a bunch of the Avengers movies comparing blu ray , DVD and different streamed versions. Found the iMax stream best so donated our blu rays and DVD to the op shop.

  • +38

    Still $9 too much IMO.

    • +6

      $1 for a case

    • +11

I wish I didn't spend time watching this. Marvel movies are getting ridiculous.

  • +23

I like the description but just can't upvote. Sorry.

  • +42

Love the description "Get the fourth best Thor movie on 4k for cheap!"

    • description great, but I would argue this is definitely way to expensive for this movie.

  • +2

Worst Thor movie of the four.

    • +9

Worst Thor of the four for sure

      • +1

Most poor Thor of the four for sure

    • +2

      Nah, dark world was worse.

    • +10

      Agree.
Marvel ruined the Thor character by turning a god into a sloppy human.
Only the last 5 minutes of the movie was worth watching.

      Hollywood is declining.
      Marvel is crumpling.
Dr Strange 2 is bad, Thor 4 is bad, Morbius the living Vampire is bad.
Don't get me started on SheHulk. OMG it is trash.

      Really sad to see.

      • +1

We can only hope avengers will be good… But the golden era of marvel may be coming to an end. Still. Everything up until and including end game was an epic story.

      • +3

been over a decade of these movies. There's only so many times you can repeat the same formula without it getting stale. Creative people taika whaiti dont like repeating themselves or being told what to do. Its why great directors like Tarantino would go nowhere near a marvel movie.

      • I tried starting She Hulk last week but for some reason Disney+ refused to play it. It would happily play everything else, but not that. Not sure if that was some kind of protest or critique or what :P

Oh well, I ended up starting The Old Man instead, which is OK so far.

      • +1

I enjoyed Dr Strange 2, thought it was better than Black Panther 2, Thor 4 and Eternals.

        • +2

Those are not high bars my friend

        • Dr Strange 2 was fine. Eternals was decent. I haven't seen the other 2 yet. Over the past few months I have been working through a backlogue of unwatched films; I've seen almost all of the older superhero films now except Ant Man & Wasp.

        • I'm a big dr strange fan, and it was straight up ass. Some scenes were so cringey and not "horror" at all. And it shouldve been called scarlet witch the multitude of madness. Only rate it slightly above thor 4

          • @y33tcity: That's probably the difference. I've never read any Dr Strange comics or really consumed any Dr Strange content outside of the MCU, so for me it was really fun because I didn't have a lot to compare it to so I wouldn't know if it wasn't loyal to the comics or anything.

    Thor (2011): 7.0 iMDd
    Thor Dark World (2013): 6.8
    Thor Ragnarok (2017): 7.9
Thor Love and Thunder (2022): 6.3

    Op is technically correct.

    • +12

      The best kind of correct

      • +2

        Good news, everyone!

    • -2

Imdb ratings are a joke so don't give them oxygen

      • that's what I thought, since everything seems to get between 4.8 and 7.9…. until I randomly looked up the movie Glitter (Mariah Carey) and saw that it got 2.4, I guess there's movies that no one in their right mind woud see that get under 4.8

      • IMDb ratings are a joke

Lol what do you mean. They are community ratings, usually based on average on 1000s of votes. Not like they take only the first 20 votes.
They also probably remove any ratings 7/8 like for NPS

      • -1

Anything rated 3.x with Bruce Willis is absolutely correct

  • +3

would jump at it if it wasn't such a bad MCU movie

  • +3

Yep, not worth $10. Wouldn't even pay $4.99 via AppleTV/iTunes if it were available. The movie looked promising but when the Hasslehoff Nick Fury: Agent of Shield movie was better……. you have issues!!

  • +4

    don't waste your money

  • +4

Bought a few 4k disc years ago even I don't have 4k TV, now I have 4k TV but don't know when I will have 4k player XD

    • +1

      Hilarious.

      • +1

        Hilarious

        True ozbargainer

Anyway I bought those with FHD blu-ray

    • Get an Xbox series X when they go on sale in a year or two

      • Get an Xbox series X when they go on sale in a year or two

Have been waiting for the price to go down for 2 years XD

And now we have all those streaming app, may not need it anymore since I don't game that much anymore.

      • They are losing over 100 USD per XBox console, prices aren't going down anytime soon. This is a known thing now, computer tech prices are high and aren't going back to what they were except for clearance sales. I'm glad I got the consoles early in their life, got to play games at a better state than previous consoles as soon as possible.

  • +2

I loathed the ending of this movie.

It just reminded me of Home and Away for some reason. Or any of those stupid ads showcasing parents and their kids in the kitchen.

    • +11

Well Thor was on Home and Away for years…

      • I'll happily admit I haven't watched Home and Away since Vinnie was in it.

  • Ewwww for the Love of Thunder God….

  • +3

1000x better than the Dark World imho. And Thor (2011) was just too slow for me. So it's the second best, but still not even half as good as Ragnorok.

  • -1

Just watch it free on Disney

    • +6

That's not free, you pay for the subscription.

      • +1

Then sign up for the free trial 🤷

        • +2

As I understand it, they don't do a free trial

      • +1

I paid $1.99 for their special 30 day offer not long ago. certainly not free.

  • Makes you wonder how long until physical media is no longer produced?

    • +1

I'd say not anytime soon since it is becoming more popular.

      • +1

what do you mean more popular? it has been continuously declining YOY for many years now.

        • 4K discs just had their biggest year yet.

          • @Guybrush57: huh? they declined from everything I read in 2021 are tracking at less than 50% of their best year with a projected further 10% decline over the next 3 years. apparently DVD had a big surge last year though.

      • +8

I really hope they don't, quality is much better on disc than streaming, plus you actually own it and don't have to worry about the streaming service shutting down or removing the movie from it's list or paying monthly to watch movies you like.

    • +2

with the NBN fiasco and dubious streaming capacity esp on 4k format, I think not.

    • +4

I really miss the Friday nights at the video store….

  • +2

    That's an expensive drink coaster

  • +3

Marvel, please make more gritty, suspenseful, intelligent, emotional movies…not all moviegoers are high school kids.

    • +3

But I want to watch movies to forget about how unintelligent and emotionally detached I am

    • I really hope they don't mess up Blade.

      • Imagine:
        Blade (Genre = comedy)

      • Rumours are that it's not going well

  • Garbage movie

  • +11

What a waste of Christian Bale's Villian

    • Best thing about the movie.

      • +1

I think you are forgetting Matt Damon stealing the show.

  • +1

    Personally I loved this movie.
I don't have a blu-ray player so I won't be buying it, but I just wanted to balance out some of the negativity

    • +4

Is there a ven diagram for people who don't have a blu ray player and also enjoy modern marvel movies? 🤔

  • -6

Woke rubbish. First they ruined Doctor Strange, now this.

    • +1

It wasn't the woke that ruined this movie.

  • -4

All of the dual dad parents can go watch this together!

  • +1

Hated the movie but bought it for the marvel collection

    • +9

Sounds like Disney's job is done

  • Am i the only one that thought it was still significantly better than Thor 2?

    • +6

      Probably….

    • +2

I actually appreciate Thor 2 more after seeing Love & Thunder.

It's a bit like the Predator franchise. I never liked Predator 2, but after seeing the drab that came out after - it's not a bad movie.

      • The new Predator movie is good though. Has potential atleast.

  • +2

    Bargain!

  • +1

The cover looks like someone vomited a pack of skittles.
Might be the first ever Camel tracking that has to list a negative as the lowest price point, when customers are paid $5 to take a copy.

    • +1

The cover looks like someone vomited a pack of skittles.

      matches the contents well then.

  • +3

Christian Bale is the only good thing in this movie.

    • +5

      He doesn't get enough screentime.

    • The music which played when Natalie Portman Thor'd up was pretty neat.

  • +1

Horrible movie. Makes Thor 2 look like a masterpiece.

  • -3

    Marvel… gross

  • Dont waste your money.

  • +2

worst movie ever, get yourself and enjoy some maccas on that budget, your tummy will thank you for it.

    • get yourself and enjoy some maccas on that budget

$5.90 small big mac meal with cheeseburger today

    • Marvel is the McDonald's of the movies.

  • I never fall a sleep during a marvel movie. I did with this one.

  • Do you need some sort of device to play these ?

    • Do you need some sort of device to play these ?

      Disc, what do you think?

    • +2

      Yep, a Walkman

    • +3

No, you spin it on your finger and translate the bits to audio and video. I hope you’ve installed the 4K and Atmos upgrades to your nervous centre to get full detail.

  • +2

This movie was really good for kids . At the end the kids get super powers to kill the bad guys , instead of having to watch middle age men and women fight bad guys all the time … Little kids I watched it with went nuts for that …also in the end there is a genuine kid super hero who has Thor as a dad …..means a lot to kids ….got to remember the reason you liked stuff like this and star wars is cos you watched it as a kid and it was aimed at you as a kid…..this is one kids will actually like ….other super hero movies are mostly for whining adult babies.

    • The scene where the kids are kidnapped and were talking to Gorr was quite creepy/scary for kids though.

    • It's awesome that kids enjoy it, but when people say that about Star Wars etc I need to point out that all the characters were adults, and kids were perfectly capable of enjoying a movie which tries to take itself seriously with mature characters and can be for all ages. The MCU started with Robert Downey Jr in his 40s or 50s and was successful for it.

  • Such a great description! haha
