  • Yeah still 15 minutes before it starts and the site is dead. Biggest scammers!
I can't believe people pay for something when half the time the site won't mention the brand or model number apparently to "protect the company or distributor". More likely they don't want you to be able to look up reviews, or find out that the brand is dodgey. It's interesting to see that they were happy to come on the site to spread the word, but seemed to avoid any questions or comments of substance.

  • pathetic

  • omgomgomgomg 8 more min LOL! wooot i'm gonna be soooo disappointed ahahaha

  • LOL it's scripting limit number of online people. So many people must be waiting to grab the WII. I don't know what kind of infrastructure they use to host the website but surely can't believe in the statement "Our website resources are now managed across a sizeable network of servers". A Dual Quad Core server with 8GB ram should be able to handle a few thousands people online at the same time, considering that the website script is simple.

    • While the server can probably handle the scripts and images, its probably more to do with limiting queries against their database. No point being able to show your products when you can't actually go through the sale process.

  • sorry to many people trying to access the website…..
    alway happen like this

  • lol website is dead. no cheap stuff for anyone =P

  • If you guys keep on comment on this thread and refreshing the pages, I suspect you'll crash OzBargain as well… (btw it is back for me, still selling the JetForce vacuum)

  • Obviously you guys have been fooled. I knew it would come down to them site down.
And to NEOSIN and JASHJASH, you dont know what you're talking about, cos you wont get what you asked.
Dont even trust COTD, they are CATCHes of the days.. everyday
if you ever got to order, delivery time is 2-4 weeks.

    • lol i was being sarcastic :P

lets crash ozbargain as well LLOOL

  • good luck on buying Wii …

  • I bet all you people who voted +sitive can change your votes.. :)

    • I won't vote positive nor negative :D. However my experience with COTD lately is not good in terms of delivery.

  • neil, you're correct. Mysql database is the main issue, exceeding connection limit for sure.

  • i BET u all the first item will be a CRAP item !!!!! NOT the wiii

  • After several refreshes I can get onto the site but any attempt to actually login boots me out again. Ridiculous..

  • I feel sorry for itsross. It's a good deal, I'm still hoping a few people from this site manage to get a bargain.

  • lol damn hard to access the website…

    • site is officially hammered!

      • It simply says:

        Hi,
Unfortunately there are simply too many people online at the same time. Please check back a little later and hopefully things will be calmer.

        The Catch Team

I guess it can't take too many resources to display that image

        • I've been trying since 12pm and I'm on an extremely good connection, so I know it's not my end :)

Ironically, the "overload.jpg" they try sending down to you, is around the 160K mark.. why not just put some text up instead??

If I don't get my wii I'm going to try.. … then probably just crack it and buy one for RRP =P

      • Yep, I can't even open the front page.

  • Fucking shit, i wonder if they planned this…. conspricacy

  • lol! The helicopter is first ! :D

    • 5$ for 15$ delivery ??? please confirm

  • with $199 i don't think they are making any money
arhhh still cannot access to the stupid site

  • =(

  • unfortunately, you have wasted an hour of your life stressing to get to a dead website. Cheers!

  • lol rc helicopter 5bucks hahaha IKNEW IT

    • arh….i want the wii and nano…

  • my dumb page wont even load

  • can anybody see what is first?

  • how much is the postage of those helis? haha

  • Oh, It's a staged thing with one product at a time? The promotional junk never mentioned that! Lame.

Nobody is going to buy that helecopter, it'll sit there all day.

    • Yeah it did mention it

    • The helicopters already sold out long ago.

  • LOL I have the heli in my cart but site is getting raped lol!

    • lol poor you

      good luck checking out =p

  • waste of time

    • Agreed

  • lol they did mention it. and it's every hour

  • pic here for those who cannot load http://upload.ozbargain.com/2008/10/28/837_heli.jpg

    • How does that help?

      • at least you can see it now. :P

    • Thanks mate. At least we know some people can get in and the sale is for real.

    • i bet u can't checkout can ya lol!

  • Well at the very least OZbargain's email servers are working great. My Outlook is frozen ;(

    • LOL! i'm getting more enjoyment out of deleting the inflow of the update emails than i am waiting for the catch. :D

    • Yeah. Please don't subscribe to this thread — our email server is working hard! Worse that someone with Yahoo address does not really work as the rate of new emails is too high, so all of them got queued up on my server :(

      • scotty, we need a mirc channel. or a chat room of some kind.

        • Sure. IRC sounds good…

  • did any any one consider that the the site is actually in brissy - thus 12middday our time not the rest of australia?

    • time is 12pm AEDST. They're based in NSW.

    • COTD is based out of Melbourne and its 12PM EST.

    • No, because the site is in MELBOURNE ;)

  • Someone care to provide direct link to the clickable link to purchase the helicopter?

    • They seem to be using forms, so thats not possible.

Repeatably click like the rest of us

    • the helicopter gone. Now is Samsung DVD player $29

  • they're located in melb arent they?

  • I got a really fast connection here (a dedicated full fibre optus backbone) - but hell, still no access to the site.

    • Connection speed won't make any difference. You could be sitting next to their servers hooked up via gigabit ethernet and you'll still get the same message.

      • sigh - so much of the QQQ's promise:

        QQQ Said:

Our website resources are now managed across a sizeable network of servers.
The IT geniuses have been stress testing based on projected/predicted turnout numbers and its looking good.

        • what they meant by stress testing is adding a sorry page.

    • I'm pretty sure it's not OUR connection that is the problem.

  • If you've bought the chopper, get off the site! LOL

    • that's meeee LOL! i added to cart but i can't login anymore LOL!!!!!!

  • This is a complete waste of time.

I am able to login and see the page when it is 5sec before and then nothing anymore immediately after.

    This is a conspiracy!

    • LOL - and you've already voted positive!

      • well, it's too late now. so here is my 2-ve vote to make it negative again. LOL

  • Shit I wanted the Chopper, looks like fun :(

    • There's another heli link on the main ozbargain page..
      $4.95 at shoppingsquare..

  • It's kind a fun :D. Don't worry the helicopter is still there because noone could buy it.

  • Im voting negative cause these idiots should of prepared for this shit….

  • Neosin wrote:

"lol rc helicopter 5bucks hahaha IKNEW IT"

Thanks for letting me know champ so I don't have to keep trying this hour just to get $5 RC heli!!

    • this is a joke…

    • lol np mate :)

i think it's gonna be a scam i.e hardly anyone will be able to get one and they'll just blame it it on the server crash

      ….

  • getting no where this sucks

  • no one cares about your vote.

They have too much publicity already.

    • it's bad publicity for sure

    • every negative vote counts. gives them negative publicity for not being prepared for this!

  • $5 for RC heli is still pretty good

  • that would be nice corona,
but i belive that the people who are in cotd wont be leaving it till they buy everything they want.

  • Well, serves em right - hope they don't sell anything

  • this is rucked

  • I wanted a helicopter god dammit….cant even get on to buy a crappy item…jeezes

  • I hope the whole servers goes down… muahahahahahh

  • Well I got to sign in and then it crashed….

  • I'm also having site access issues due to traffic. I'm here at noon as the promotional brochure stated only to be greeted by "sorry" message every time I try to even login, browse etc. I've genuinely made my effort to purchase a good deal and holding up my end of the bargain, I've sent an email to them regarding my intention to purchase and that at the time of the promotion, I was active on their site. I hope they hold up their end of the bargain as well and reserve at least one of the items (I'm not just after a promotional item either).

Cross fingers and touch wood, but I doubt they will reserve it.

  • this is the error on the site LOL!!!!!!

    Error 2 (net::ERR_FAILED): Unknown error.

    • LOL so even if I get lucky and log in there is no chance I can pay and order my Chopper :P

  • the employees will probably end up buying all th stuff and posting it on ebay

    • the truth is.. I don't think anyone is able to buy anything right now. its 20 mins in they most likely wont sell alot. its more about the hits.

  • This is just nonsense, out of at least 50 refresh I've done, out of the ones that actually loads, I get directed to sorry.html straight away.
IN THE MEAN TIME, http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/images/1000tc/ works ALL OF the time, what does that TELL ME? Something FISHY is happening.
Please someone prove me wrong, as of right now, time is 12:18, 18 mins into the sale.
