Yay hoping there's a good cashback too like last year

    • +1

What was the cash back last year?

  • +1

damn the iPhone 14 Pro Max is not included….

    • +1

      Newest iPhones are never included.

      • Apple watch too :( I would have bought a series 7 instead of 8 if it was cheaper and came with a gift card

        • You’re not missing much between the 7 & 8

      Cheers

      • +4

That's okay it's your first post, but it's always a good idea to give the credit to the person in the OP, to Maglia Nera in this case.

        • +5

@3235113 didn't update the deal post, it was the power users. So I think the "cheers" comment is enough, as OP didn't technically use the table or steal anything.

I don't think OP knows the full functionalities yet, but good on OP for making their first post

          • +4

@I Smell Pennies: Yep thats right mods put the table in; i still dont know the ozb markdown haha, ill RTFM for the 2nd post

  • +1

Wonder if this promo includes the educational store? Not a bad deal, if so

    • keen to know this as well

    • +9

Education store is excluded according to the big wall of tiny text at the bottom of the page.

    • +2

No only the retail store: "Purchases made on a Corporate Employee Purchase Program or with education or business loyalty pricing do not qualify."

    • +1

I wonder then - as some commenters in the OW post suggest, apple apparently price match up to 10%? I've never heard of this, but if this is the case, then combining with this would be nice

      • +1

They do. But I'm not sure if that (price match) can be combined with this offer?

      • Yes I've price matched several Macs at Apple over the years.

        • Did you receive the gift card too?

  • +1

oh dang! combine with 28 degrees price protection, bam, offer i cant refuse.

    • +5

Previously, Apple has included the bonus product on the receipt, charged at full value, and deducted that cost from the price of the purchased product.

For example I got 'free airpods' with my MBA but they were added at full price with ~$200 taken off the MBA.

Makes claiming price protection near impossible on the main item itself. Will be interesting to see how it goes this time!

      • +1

Ah, beans. They were one step ahead

      • +1

Yes, was annoyed they did it that way.

  • +5

    No Apple TV.

    Thanks for sharing OP.

    • +2

Yeah bugger, I was waiting for Black Friday to get one. Will have to see if it's on sale anywhere as part of the sales.

    • -1

Time to get a TV that has Apple TV built-in.

      • +1

It’s mind boggling that Apple doesn’t license tvOS.

I get that it’s completely not an Apple thing to do, but it’s by far the best tv Operating System

  • +1

So buy GC from Coles and then grab my AirPods Pro 2

    • Same here but I thought the $80 GC can be apply as a discount to the price directly according to this?

"Qualifying purchases can receive a discount equal to the value of the eligible Apple Gift Card off the price of the eligible product and will be charged for all items at check-out"

Not that it matters in this case since I am paying off my Apple wallet, and hopefully get 10% Cash Reward back on the full amount, but it seemed to charge full and want to send me the GC instead.

  • -8

Better off getting 14" MacBook Pro through Officeworks deal. A lot of these will probably be roughly what edu pricing is, so better off going through that if you can then not stuck with an Apple gift card

    • +4

Im hoping to stack it with the apple giftcard 20x flybuy deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736711, ill call apple tomorrow and confirm

      • You can do that but there are some limits (I can’t remember what they are). You can add gift cards to your account that prebook online (so you also get cash rewards/shop back). Last year on Black Friday cashback was up to 8% up to $100. Cyber Monday 5% uncapped I think.

  • lol bought an M2 MBA last week, any chance they'll honour the gift card for it?

    • +1

Why you buying 2 weeks from Black Friday deals my dude :/

      • didn't expect apple to have sales and also bought the upgraded model (16gb/1tb ssd) so no other store sells that. it also had educational discount

        • +1

No gift cards with education store

        • You're ahead with the education store, better than the gift cards. Don't sweat it, you did good!!

    • +6

If you haven’t had it for over 14 days do a return and get a refund. And then wait for the deal. That’s if you bought at Apple Store.

      • +4

Even better, the extended return period (through to January 8) is on again - https://www.apple.com/au/shop/help/returns_refund

      • great idea but having to return it just to buy again is almost not worth the gift card for me

        • +1

Also you’d have to buy at fully price to get gift card. Not sure if it’ll be worth it.

    • +2

I bought a MacBook Air M1 In Jan for my wife and then the back-to-school offer happened with free AirPods. I went in and spoke to them in-store and they were able to give me the free AirPods and a discount on AppleCare.

      Definitely worth a try!

      • +2

Had a similar experience…but with JB HiFi! Bought my MBP December, then when Apple's Back to School promotion rolled in, I got JB HiFi to give me a free Airpods to match it. :D

      • If you recently made a purchase that is eligible for an Apple Shopping Event gift card, please contact 133‑MAC (133‑622) anytime between Friday, Nov. 25th, and Monday, Nov. 28th, to check if your order qualifies.

        • oh dang. I only just came across this post today! I bought the iphone 13 with the Coles apple giftcard deal just before this deal shown up on ozbargain. I did that rather than waiting for the BF because the stock is hard to come by unless I buy it from the apple store. I didnt think apple would do a discount (in the form of giftcard in this case) — they normally don't. It has been shipped so no more cancellation. :( Would be curious to know if anyone has the luck for apple to credit the giftcard via the phone next week! It is a bummer as it is only 1 week apart.

        • @CandyMan may i know where did you see this statement?

          • @koala123: I messaged Apple (using iMessage) to ask if I can use Apple gift cards during the sales event. The boy misunderstood me and gave me that answer.

If you are interested in the answer of the original question. It’s yes and you will get the bonus gift card.

            • @CandyMan: Edit: the bot 🤖 not they boy.
              PSilly auto correct

            • @CandyMan: @CandyMan thanks. the term and condition says otherwise. 14 days price guarantee excludes special sale event. But i guess it is still worth a try. I reckon if any luck, they would just issue the giftcard rather than a discount.

              • @koala123: @koala123 please provide an update once you know

                • @CandyMan: @CandyMan no luck. I phoned on friday. It sounded so positive. The person on the phone told me that she submitted a form for the management about this for approval. It will take 24 hrs and a gift code will be sent to me if approved. I didn't even get an acknowledgement email about my phone call like one would get if you contacted the company customer service. Checked my email today. Nothing. It is a shame as i only just bought it last week. And apple store is far away for me. I only just set the new phone up yesterday. It was a long process. not sure it worth the effort to return, rebuy and re-setting.

                  • @koala123: Yeah that’s very disappointing. Maybe check your junk mail if you haven’t already just in case

                    • +1

@CandyMan: @CandyMan well, it came through. 3 days later. Better late than never!

    • +1

Bought from Apple? You have until January 8 to return it :)

      • Isnt the return period only 14 days from purchase?

        • +1

The Christmas holiday extended return period at Apple has started.

          Holiday Returns

For eligible products received between now and 25/12/22, you have until 8/1/23 to initiate a return.

    • +1

Yes, go into the store when the sale is on. They’ll return and resell the MBA to you but with a gift card. They have extended returns on everything until early Jan, take advantage of it lol

      • -2

just read it doesn't include purchases through the education store, so only would be a $30 difference. what i might do though is return it just before the 8th of january and rebuy it when the back to uni promotion starts, which started 6th january last time

        • +1

I suppose when you return the item they would take back the gift card?

          • -1

@yanlianglee: no they let you keep it and help you to cycle up an unlimited supply of giftcards.

    • I remember somewhere they honour price drop within two weeks, better look that up and call them.

    • +1

If you recently made a purchase that is eligible for an Apple Shopping Event gift card, please contact 133‑MAC (133‑622) anytime between Friday, Nov. 25th, and Monday, Nov. 28th, to check if your order qualifies.

    • if you bought it from apple, you have until 8th of jan to return it, then rebuy..

      • amazon does something similar but i always feel like it would have been more efficient for them to just give a refund/credit than going through the "return" and "rebuy" process. Because it would cost more shipping and multiple people involved in the process, such as courier, repackaging handler etc.

    • Just return it and repurchase it… Apple have a pretty generous refund policy

  • What does this mean in the terms though…surely this isn't just restricted to purchases using their financing?..
    "Qualified Purchases
Eligible Products purchased in a Qualifying Location, via Latitude bank financing qualify for this promotion."

    • I think this is an inclusive term - not a limiting one.

    • I read this as an exception i.e. if purchasing via latitude or via a phone carrier purchase is also eligible for promotion (vs normal payment methods)

  • Can CR or SB come to the party with an upsized Apple cash back for BF too? Wishful thinking 😉

    • +1

Your wishful thinking probably comes true. They did upsize cash back in previous years, but with exclusion.

  • Can someone confirm whether these are included in the education prices/store

    • most likely not, but I am expecting.

    • +1

      Not included.

This offer also cannot be combined with the Apple Employee Purchase Plan, or education or business loyalty pricing.

      • +1

        Refurbished?

        • +2

"Refurbished products, end-of-life products and open-box returns sold “as is” are not eligible for this offer."

  • Translation on this please…. it kind of infers that if you're buying in store you'll just get a discount, not the gift card (like the gift card will be immediately applied in form of a discount)…
"At a Qualifying Location: Customers who purchase an Eligible Product in a Qualifying Location during the Promotion Period shall receive a discount equal to the value of the Promotion Product (depending on their purchase, as set forth below) off the price of the Eligible Product. Customers will be charged for all items in their bag, including the Promotion Product.

The Promotion Product, in each case an Apple Gift Card, is not a “gift”. This offer expires when the purchase transaction is complete."

    • +1

I assume you get the bonus gift card to use after the purchase based on text from landing page:

"For a limited time, get an Apple Gift Card to use on a later purchase when you buy an eligible iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, AirPods and more.* Mark your calendar — our special shopping event kicks off 25 November."

      • Yes it is clearer on that page. It makes sense to me now after reading it again. Basically they discount the device price and then force you to buy the gift card to use later.

        • Maybe they got the intern to knock up the T&Cs

          • +1

@3235113: I think it's done this way to protect against price drop gaurentees or other stores having to match it etc.

    • +4

You pay for the gift card and get its value off the item.

  • +1

Absurd that Mac Mini gets a gift card of $160, but anyone buying a Mac Studio + Studio Display apparently get nothing in this promo 😤😂🤷‍♂️

  • This offer also cannot be combined with the Apple Employee Purchase Plan, or education or business loyalty pricing. Some methods of payment types are not accepted under this offer. See check-out for details.

I'm going to guess you can't use a gift card to pay for your order (as then you're buying a gift card with a gift card) - but hopefully it's fine to use your Apple Account Balance (and therefore use gift cards anyway).

  • Was waiting for Apple 4K TV 2022 to go on sale with $80 credit. Guess they skipped it this year ?

  • What a rip off, the M1 Pro 14” was $2500 a couple months ago.

    • Yeah, not many actual deals here. People are just blind upvoting because they see Apple discounting, someone prove me wrong and show me how any of these are historical lows / competitive prices at least.

      • +3

Airpod pros 2 around historical low with bonus gift card, see : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737657. Also replying to your above point most people interested in this apple deal and in the ecosystem so will likely have use for the voucher

        • +1

Yeah fair, good spot. Apart from those though… Ecosystem point also reasonable, though surely people would rather keep the $$$ than be stuck with a gift card

          • +2

@reloxation: For sure cold hard cash would be better. I have also been eyeing the officeworks deal using ultimate gift cards but found none in stock at big w as part of the 10% off deal so this deal is probably second best bet if the flybuys apple gift cards can be used

          • +1

@reloxation: If you offered 10% discount, I am sure there will be people willing to buy the voucher(s).

      • +5

Don’t forget that buying from Apple, you stack that promo on top of Apple gift cards which are quite often purchased with 10% discount via WW, Coles etc….
And the credit pays subscriptions like iCloud, Disney Plus, games etc.

  • Does this mean it doesn't matter if the specs are upgraded or entry level the gift card amount is still the same?

    • +1

Yes, it doesn't matter. That's why the entry level products seem to have the best value.

  • How long does it take to get the gift card? could i purchase a MBP, get the $400 voucher, and use the voucher to buy airpods pro?

    • From experience it's pretty instant, maybe in a couple of hours or a day or two.

      • It said sent within 24 hours after the product is shipped. 😔

  • Is this in store or online only?

    • +1

      Qualifying Locations

Apple Store locations, Apple Online Store, the Apple Store app and 133‑622 (each a “Qualifying Location”).

  • +1

I bought MBP after a price match from the apple store for 2700$. any chance they can give me 400$ gift card on 25th?

    • No, unless the MBP is still in the no question asked full money back return period. Then, return it, re-bargain, then purchase again.
