Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen $399 (+ Bonus $80 Apple Gift Card) @ Apple

2450

Apple, as usual, is running their annual Black Friday event

Works out to be $319 after receiving the gift card, and the gift card can be used on future purchases. You won't need to worry about Apple going insolvent, unlike Deliveroo

Stack with discounted gift cards for even further discounts. Coles currently have 15% off TCN GCs

On top of this, stack with 10% upsized cashback from Cashrewards as well

From @bargainsgrabber's comment: the AirPods Pro 2 should be an all time low after factoring in the bonus apple gift card and cashback

10% Cashback (excl. GST) from Cashrewards should hopefully discount this a further $35 (estimate) and if using 10% off gift cards, you can save another $401

So final cost will be $399 - $40 - $35 = $324 (+ bonus $80 Apple Gift Card on top)

Adding on the $80 bonus gift card from Apple brings the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen down to a whopping $244 using cashback (the lowest ever for the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen), or at the very least $279 without cashback

All time low was $319

Credits to @3235113 for finding the original deals

  1. Purchase $400 Apple GC from Coles to be returned in the form of Flybuys or from BIG W/ Aldi(redeem it at JB for Apple GC) to have 10% off straight discount

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

Fingers cross for an upsize Apple cashback. If there is one, the AirPods Pro 2 should be an all time low after factoring in the bonus apple gift card and cashback

    $399 - $40 (Note 1) = $359 + bonus $80 Apple GC

Potentially could end up at $322 if there’s a 10% upsize Cashrewards cashback with the sale

Note 1: Purchase $400 Apple GC from Coles to be returned in the form of Flybuys or from BIG W/ Aldi(redeem it at JB for Apple GC) to have 10% off straight discount

Obviously it would still be a good deal but Apple pulled some trickery before when I purchased airtags with bonus gift card and upsized cashback. By memory they deducted the gift card amount off the tax invoice. In this case for example your invoice would show you paid $319 (despite paying $399 and getting a bonus $80 gift card) total and you would only get cashback on the $319.

      • +1

still not bad if its 10% cashback on $319 tho
(given its stack with 10% off Apple GC + $80 Apple GC bonus)

        • +1

It’s in the CashRewards terms that the cashback doesn’t apply to purchases of gift cards. Since the APP2 would be “discounted” by the cost of the gift card, any cashback (if any) would be on the discounted amount.

Duplicate sadly https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737651 - more offers here

    • +2

I made my post before that original deal was updated, so should not be a dupe

    • Didn’t seem to care when the flight deal was duplicated word for word 😂

  • This is a great deal as you can pay via apple GC or apple credit (which is 10% off in flybuys points from coles currently) https://www.coles.com.au/catalogues-and-specials/view-all#vi…
and you can also get cashback (last year cashrewards was offering 10% cashback on Apple, not sure about this year)

    • But you can’t stack gift card and cashback!

      • When I ordered my MBP I added all my gift cards onto my Apple ID account, and still got cashback approved. What do you mean?

        According to Cashrewards: https://www.cashrewards.com.au/apple

Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards

      • +1

        Unless things have changes
Last year I used my apple credits to pay for Airpod 3
Spend $1 on ANZ credit card (for cashrewards Max) + apple credit (for remaining balance)
Got the full 10% cashback from CR and the bonus Apple GC

So meaning you can stack if you pay via Apple credits (just load the GC to your apple account first)

    • Have you paid via (ideally discounted) giftcards previously and still gotten the bonus gift cards? I couldn't determine from the T&Cs…

      • +2

You should be able to. It's treated like cash at the end of the day

        • Just got this reply from Apple sales agent via chat :

"To set friendly expectation, when placing an Order online at the Apple website, the option to use an Apple Gift cards will be unable, and will not appear on the checkout payment page. As you'll only have the option to use your personal credit/debit card."

      • +2

        yes, they are separated
When you add the item to the card (eg. the Airpod pro 2)
The bonus GC will also added to the cart, and applied the discount (eg. it added $80 then deduct $80)

When it goes to the payment page, you choose whatever payment method (eg. Credit card, apple credit, GC etc)
which will not affect the items that already added in the cart (the airpod pro + the bonus GC)

        • Thats logical and great news!

        • Does it mean if $80 bonus can be applied on the purchase, you only need $320 in Gift Cards to complete the transaction?

    • Wow I didn’t know, thanks guys

  • Wonder if the $400 is offered for education pricing as well.

    • Sadly its not

      • Dang that sucks. Will have to wait for back to school offer

  • An upsized cashback will sweeten the deal further.

  • Nerfed noise cancelling 🥲

  • +1

I have heaps of iTunes credit, can I use that credit to buy this to then get the $80 credit as well?

    • I think they have now all merged as apple credits
If they are apple credits then you can use to buy anything in apple store

    • Yes

  • -2

Hopefully there’s no limit per customer… I want to pick a couple of dozen of these up… I have a few sycophants due their small reward (plus gift card for them, not me)

    • +1

2 item limit per customer per item category

  • how long do apple gift cards last for before they expire?

    • Apple Gift Cards do not expire

    • +4

The question should be what happens to the apple gift cards when I expire.

  • As per T&C's

At a Qualifying Location: Customers who purchase an Eligible Product in a Qualifying Location during the Promotion Period shall receive a discount equal to the value of the Promotion Product (depending on their purchase, as set forth below) off the price of the Eligible Product. Customers will be charged for all items in their bag, including the Promotion Product.

So, instead of gift card, it's a discount on the actual product.

    • more like
      Subtotal:
      $400+$80 APP 2 + GC
      $400+$80-$80 APP 2 + GC - GC discount

      Total:
      $400 APP 2 + GC

      • :(

      • +2

No, the gift card is rung up as full price and the AirPods are discounted by $80.

        • ok that makes sense. Does this affect gift card usage? Like if its $320 APP2 + $80 GC can I pay for everything with GC or only the $320 with GC?

          • +1

@Bacons: From memory you should be fine to pay the total with GCs.

          • +1

@Bacons: Your two questions are basically the same lol. Essentially checkout will be $320 and you can pay in full with Gift Cards, or partially in Gift Cards. Up to you on how you want to pay. The $80 bonus Gift Card can only be used for a future purchase on the Apple store or App store

            • @I Smell Pennies: no its not the same, I'm essentially asking if you can pay for apple GC using apple GCs, which Ozymandias says should be fine. And I'm pretty sure checkout is $400 (320+80) why would it be $320?

  • I just lose my right side earbud from pro gen 2… hard lesson costs $139 to get a replacement..
Hoping to see if it’s cheaper at Black Friday then place order regardless

    • Isn't this Apple's Black Friday sale, or are you looking out from sale from other sellers?

  • +7

I’d rather a reduced price rather than stupid gift cards and other nonsense. Hopefully Amazon will offer a no nonsense discount price considering they’ve sold at this price before…

    • +2

Somebody woke up on the right side of the bed this morning

    • +1

Its not stupid gift card given you can load the card back to your apple account balance
      and the balance never expires
(unlike some other bonus GC where it only have 30-60days validity)

      • +4

Yeah i dont buy much direct from apple these days so GC is useless to me. Prefer the cash in my pocket, not theirs.

        • Agree with you. Rather have cash than gift card credit.

  • +3

Cheers for sharing. The Apple card will go straight back into my account to pay for icloud 👍

    • Good idea :)

    • +1

There’s also a cheaper way to get iCloud, in case you didn’t know.

      • +1

Yes, thanks to you I’m on that plan :)

  • +1

I feel statements like "it's $400 but you get a $80 gift card to use later, so it's $320" should get your OzB badge revoked.

It's $400 and then you have to spend more to get something reduced by $80. If you really have something else to buy it's going to work for you, but in no way you can state these airpods are $320.

    • It would be pretty obvious that for a lot of people it is a good deal.
Anyone with a subscription to any Apple service (it would be more than four months of a family Apple Music subscription for example), someone to buy or rent something like a movie from iTunes, or anyone wanting to buy Apple hardware. Any hardware at all.
And it never expires. If only other gift cards were like this.

Would it be ultimate to get the cash straight up? Yes. But this is still pretty good.

      • -1

In other cases, someone would fall for thinking that if there's 2 in price for 1, then the whole thing is free.

        Is it true? Obviously not.
Is such a statement useful to anyone? No.

        • Why would anyone think that?

          • @entropysbane: Because you spend eg. $10 on a product and you get a $10 for free, hey! $10 spent, $10 received, no?

I appreciate the discussion, but I still feel the statements like the one in question are just false. It's all the marketing BS we're trying not to fall for. Good on you staying watchful.

            • @pizzaguy: SERIOUSLY!! You think Apple will do a deal that give you bonus GC that you can use before the purchase?🤣🤣🤣

In fact 99% bonus gift card for a purchase is provided after initial purchase is completed!! Yes certain in store deals had the card used with the purchase and that is because the sale person is desperate or helpful.

Anyone who even bring up this question need their brains check…😓😅

              • @syswong: Nah, I never thought any of that, but I keep thinking how stubborn people can be not to admit that having to spend at least $399 doesn't equal spending $320.

Yes, you can leverage this situation. But you'll never get those airpods for $320 in this case.

                • +1

@pizzaguy: just discounted GC + Cash Reward comes 322.9 which is quite close. Then you get $80 bonus.

Traveling in 60 days you get another 10% off……

  • Thank you, OP, for sharing this, and the other wonderful information along with it.

Might I add that folks can pay via HSBC Everyday Global card for a further 2% off of their purchase, if they are purchasing Apple gift cards from Coles - just purchase in denominations < $100 (tap & pay limit for cashback).

Also, on Apple's website, it says that purchase of AirPods "will get up to a A$120 Apple Gift Card" (while your title says $80).

  • -4

if you return the airpods, can you still keep the $80 gift card?

    • Are you being serious?

      • What if you buy the airpod, receive and use the GC then return the airpod?

    • According to T&Cs:

Both the Promotion Product received along with the Eligible Product purchased must be returned in order to receive a full refund or exchange. If either the Eligible Product or Promotion Product is missing, is not returned or has been redeemed, the full original value of that Eligible Product or Promotion Product will be charged.

      So good luck

  • Never bought from Apple Black Friday event before. I’m assuming I can buy the AirPods Pro, then the gift card will be available immediately to buy an AirPods 3. Is my understanding correct?

    • +2

Based on experience from past two Apple Black Friday events:
If you purchase instore, the gift card and apple product are handed over immediately.
If you purchase via their online store for click and collect, the gift card is emailed once you collect (or could be immediately).
If getting a delivery, the gift card is isssued via email once your products ship.

      • Can I use apple credit in my Apple ID if paying instore?

        • No, only physical Apple gift cards.
Apple ID balances can only be used online (for now)

  • What is the historical cashback during Black Friday?

    • Not sure what the biggest % was, but usually 10% capped at $100 or so

  • Hey OP, so you can use GC to buy Apple GC at JBHIFI? Do you know if theres a limit?

  • I'm new to the cashrewards concept. Is it a case of buying the coles GCs now and then waiting for up to the last day of the apple deal to see if there's a cashrewards 10% offer?

    • Definitely try and get discounted gift cards to lower the cost. The Cashrewards cashback is just the cherry on top. I'm not sure if there will be a 10% offer this year, we'll just have to wait and see on the day, but quite likely :)

  • +1

is this deal going to be available starting 25th 12:01am at Apple Online Store?

  • If Apple price match another retailer will the $80 GC still apply?

    • Does Apple price match at all?

      • I've never tried, but people have mentioned up to 10%.

  • Hi guys, just confirming: does jb hifi allow you to buy apple gift cards with gift cards? If that’s the case coles tomorrow will have gift cards with 15% off for jb.
This will make AirPods even cheaper!

    • +1

Yes, they will. Just say you’ll pay via eftpos, then swipe and enter pin as usual. Or add to Apple/Google pay and tap

      • Thanks for that. I need to see about adding the cards to wallet

  • -4

Buy the pro's. Get the 80 giftcard. Return the pro's and buy them wiuth the giftcard? Am i missing something?

    • +1

Apple reduces the price or the Pro by the $80 gift card on the invoice to show $319 for the Pro and $80 GC, so you will only get $319 back if you return the Pro.

      • Ah makes sense.

  • I have 2X $200 Apple gift cards.

Can you pay online with 2 Apple GC or should I do an extra step in preparation for tomorrow?
