    • Yep, glad I still have last year's untouched, and the one from the year before is still going strong.

      The entitlement is real. Hamboy

Thanks OP, massive savings and thank you for posting each year.

      • +2

I agree. I buy almost all of my pool supplies from pool and spa warehouse because they have great customer service, are significantly cheaper than anywhere locally, and they run free delivery deals frequently. Accusing them of price gouging on something they are selling so cheap with free shipping is beyond ridiculous.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Cheers OP :)

    pH
    Acid Demand
    Total Alkalinity

    How are these different ?

    • +4

pH = pH value of your pool water, acid demand is how much acid you should add to adjust the pH to the value within the range of 7.2-7.6, total alkalinity is the amount of buffer present in your water.

      Edited: corrected typos

    • Do you not have a pool jv?

  • +1

Do you sell just the chlorine test tablets? These always get used up but have plenty of the liquid left for testing the ph and alkalinity.

    • Thanks for the deal OP.

+1. DPD 1 test tablets in 10 packs would be great if possible.

I went through the same steps. Free shipping didn't come up, until I entered the code and went back to shipping options, then free shipping appeared.

      • Thanks, i was same as above and your comment helped =)

  • Thanks, finally managed to nab one this year.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Test is always free at any pool shop but for $8 Id just test it at home, good timing

    • +1

but who wants to go to a pool shop to test every week or fortnight, the hassle would do my head in.

      • +5

yeah not to mention the pool shop trying to guilt you into buying chemicals you may not really need.

        • +2

the look as you walk off without buying anything

          • @OldBugger: my local Clark Rubber is great. The girl that did my last test even said that she had never seen a result that even (levels were all at optimum) and said see you next time.

        • Agreed, as a former Operations Manger of a local councils leisure facilities (including 2 Olympic pools) it makes me laugh when Pool shops package basic chemicals as wonder solutions, rename them (4 in 1 clarifier, crystalclear, ph down and clear ?!?) to mistify customers and pretend it is weird science. A good pool shop will educate the customers on what the basics are and how to simply manage you pool.

  • Thank you @ OP! Grabbed one

  • Cheers, always makes it easier to test at home.

  • Forgive my ignorance, but how many tests do you get from a kit like this? I've only used the dip strip ones.

    • +1

A lot, I still have plenty left and I've been testing regularly for the last year.

I originally bought the dip strips ones but they're not particularly accurate.

    • +1

My experience with dip strips are that they can be wildly inaccurate. Not much can go wrong with liquid tests.

  • How often should I get a new test kit? Do they have an expiry date?

    • The individual testing chemicals has an expiry date of a couple years i think. You can buy them individually though, but at this price its cheaper for the kit.

I just keep buying the kit because i keep losing the the little cap for the test tubes or drop and crack them :).

  • Sold out already!

  • +2

i am never able to get this

  • I thought I had setup an alert. Missed it by that much

  • My exp with these is <%50 accuracy

    • Comparing with what?

      • Pool store water sample and also did about 30% against a professional water tester onsite.

        • Interesting. I have around 80-90% accuracy vs pool store test over the span of 10 years for the two things I care about, which is chlorine and pH.

          • @Hazza: I used to only care about those too, then many painful summers led me also be on top of Alkalnity, pH, hardness, cyanuric acid and phosphates… and Salt, like wow what a great product .. and cheap! :)

            • @abk123: Yeah my pool is really stable once I balance everything (buffer, stabiliser, hardness) with one free pool store test at the opening of the season. I did the pool store test every couple of weeks for the first season when we first moved in, and found I didn't have to touch anything other than chlorinator level, adding a couple bags of salt and some acid for pH. No painful summers and dirt cheap to maintain!

  • Got ozbargained.

  • I have a saltwater pool. would this be a different kit o need? Have been eyeing off the clear choice labs salt testing kit but out of stock for awhile

    • +1

no I have a salt water chlorinator too.i think there are tests specifically related to salt pools however from my limited knowledge, this kit tests most of what you need to know; total alk, ph, ppm chlorine.
if your SWC isn't generating chlorine, you just bang in a bag or two of salt, give it a couple days, then test again*

edit: as I understand it, the complete, correct order to test and adjust is
      - total alk
      - pH
      - chlorine ppm

think this test kit explains that in the instructions.

think the reason is, you need to be within spec of the earlier tests for the subsequent tests to give an accurate reading.

plz correct me if I am wrong!

  • I have a saltwater pool. would this be a different kit o need? Have been eyeing off the clear choice labs salt testing kit but out of stock for awhile

    • +1

I use this to test my salt waterpool. PH, Acid demand if PH is out of spec, total alkalinity and cholorine need to be tested regardless of pool type. Eg salt or chorine.

For the salt measurement it's cheapest to check this at pool shop but this doesn't need to be checked as regulary. You'll know your low on salt if the indicator is showing low salt on your cholornator or you are not generating cholorine, hence a low chorine value. The cholornator should have what looks like a cloud after the metal plates when functioning.

    • I use this kit fine with salt water pool. Although I only test for chlorine and pH. The rest I get tested once or twice a year at pool shop.

  • how long we can keep this in the shelf once used or new? I have stacks of this from last deal.

  • I thought the item in thumbnail looked like a Nintendo recoloured cartridge
