Mate, a roasting on OzB is just a toddler having a tantrum because you got them an ice-cream but it wasn't their favourite flavour.

    A bargain is a bargain.
Whether it is the cheapest ever is pretty much irrelevant, so good on ya for posting these deals.

    • +1

Only thing I will add to this to search the name of what you are posting ozbargain and see what the price has been like previously and to avoid making claims of cheapest ever etc. unless it really is.

    • appreciate that mate, power to the poster!

There are a few on here that think this site is OzCheapestEver.

A bargain is a bargain and also if it’s an in demand item, I don’t mind OzRRP posts to notify when stock has dropped.

Is this the same as https://www.amazon.com.au/Garmin-Ultimate-Multisport-Grade-A… listed for $493 from Amazon UK?

    • yes I'm curious too! looks the same

    • UK one has europe map. This one has worldwide map. That's the only difference I can see

      • Maps are one of the main reasons you buy a Fenix.

    • Nice find .. will pull the trigger on this (as delivery fees are waived and time to arrive is quicker)
      Thanks mate

      • Delivery will not be quick. Better try to price match it.

        • Don’t think may will price match from overseas sellers.. regardless, I’ve purchased.. my F5 will see me through until this arrives .. saying end of November.

          • @Yimmy: I did it with JBhifi. They couldn't price match exactly, but still gave me a solid discount.

  • I promise I'm not roasting, but you can get it slightly cheaper ($551.52 delivered) through ebay / zip money via Ryda. Here

That being said, I believe the sentiment from the ozb community around payment plans is on par with not immediately bringing bikies into a neighbourly dispute about cars parking on the verge so may not be the best offer.

    • +1

You can pay it all with gift cards, without need zippay. Just did it this AM

      • Didn't even realise this, handy to know. Now to convince the wife I deperately need the 6x pro. For survival purposes, of course.

    • Or just pay your zippay balance off immediately after the purchase, that's what i did

  • For those interested, I have a Fenix 7x, partner has the Fenix 6s. Feel free to ask questions.

    • Keen to know the functional differences, and are they worth the ~$500 price difference ?

      • +1

Functionally, the 7x has a flashlight which is surprisingly useful.

They talk about 7 having more accurate GPS than 6 but it's probably much of a muchness.

7s have better battery life than 6

7 has a touchscreen - I think this is a pretty individual choice, it is useful for panning around maps, but the question is how often are you doing that?

I find that the 7x seems to track things like HR and sleep a bit more accurately than 6s, but that could just be luck.

Is it worth 500 bucks? For most people probably not but I can't help but have the latest so I'm a sucker for paying a premium. I got my 7x for around $1300 which I think you can still get.

        • +1

Cheers mate .. going to grab the 6 from the UK seller listed above for $493.
Migrating from a Fenix 5, however the golf tracking is hit and miss ( like my swing!)

Apparently the shot tracking on the 6 is much better.

          Appreciate the feedback.

          • +1

@Yimmy: so are you going to have the UK maps? are u going to be happy with that?

            • @amisty79: Appears they are downloadable for in region. Regardless, I’m not a massive hiker !

  • Honestly I can't afford any of the watches in this price range.

But what about this vs the Enduro which is currently $624 at Garmin AU?
    https://www.garmin.com/en-AU/p/702797

I can remember watching a video saying the Enduro (1) misses out on some Fenix features, but gains a more powerful Flashlight?
Edit: Actually I don't think Enduro (1) has flashlight feature. I was confused because Enduro 1 has a button labeled "light" but in the user manual it's only referencing to backlight not flashlight.

And Enduro 2 is basically a Fenix 7 with more powerful flashlight?

Does anyone who knows more want to elaborate?

    • DC Rainmaker on Youtube. Great reviews and comparison of these watches.
Depends on what you want… Basic features are available in much cheaper versions.

  • I have the Fenix 6X Pro and it's not bad. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially as I had an Android smart watch before this.

This one has an excellent battery and is incredibly responsive plus lots of storage for Spotify.

My primary issue with it is that because it isn't an Android watch, you can't install apps on it that are outside of the Garmin app store and most of them are fitness / exercise apps.

Given that it is a fitness related watch, that is understandable but would be nice to be able to do a little more than just have fitness apps on it.

  • I got the Fenix 6S in the catch deal previously for $300
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/673835
Is it worth an upgrade ?

    • +1

Isn't that the same watch but with a slightly smaller case ?

      • +1

That deal you linked is for the 6S. This deal is for the 6S Pro.
So same size, but the 6 Pro was the next released model.

    • +1

That was a great deal! And no, definitely not, minimal difference between the 6 and the 6s

      • Ahhhh thanks I thought this was a totally different watch …

    • +1

This deal is the 6 pro, you get maps and a few other features with the pro version.

  • +1

I bought the 5s plus sapphire for $332.22 from Ryda using the zipay ebay deal, pretty good for those looking for a lower price point
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/123247685929

This site gives a decent comparison of the different models:
    https://smartshopping.guide/articles/garmin-watches-model-li…
One important thing they don't mention is that of the 5 range, only the 5 plus versions have topographical maps, so be cautious of that if considering the lower end

  • I am new in Australia, do you need to pay import taxes for this watch?
