        • They seem pretty durable, the ones that were broken had huge dents in them and had taken damage way outside of reasonable.

          • @PiratePete1911: Thanks. Good to know they don’t self destruct. Now I just need to wait for a decent price on the 512gb ssd version (for a growing photo library and existing music library). iOS backups also take a fair chunk of memory… …and maybe run windows (via parallels or similar) open to either m1 or m2 depending on price.

            • @Worf: You should keep in mind that at the moment I believe you can only run the arm version of windows via virtualization which kind of sucks :(

  • Is this much better than the 2019 MBA?

M1 slaughters the earlier Intel Macs.

Even Macbook Pro 16” i9 32G Ram is a lot slower than this laptop. M1 MBA can build a Xcode project 4,5 times faster than that Intel. I also have MBP 14” M1 32G RAM but still prefer to use MBA when travelling and it can handle Xcode, VScode, Docker, Outlook, Slack, Chrome at the same time nicely.

    • Yes, compared to a 2018 i9 MBP, my M1 MBA is a much better experience for light use. For heavier tasks I did on my MBP that require more ram, it’s a non-starter.

  • I got the m1 8 core 24’ imac

  • There is a reason why Apple has such huge profits.

Twist it anyway you like, numbers don't lie 🤣

Is there a better performing laptop in the same price range? Build quality, performance and battery life are outstanding.

      • It’s Apple. Either you hate or love no matter what

        • I don't mind Apple, I just feel it's too hard to switch for me now.

If you are Apple, nyou gotta be Apple everything and iPhones are simply to expensive for me!

          The laptops look good tho!

          • @[Deactivated]: buy near new but used way cheaper

          • @[Deactivated]: Been using Macs since 2005, have several iMacs and Macbooks plus appleTV and an iPad.

However I refuse to pay more that 200-300 for a phone so mine is a Samsung. :)

Just bought this today at officeworks using Big W 10% off ultimate cards. 1170 for the MacBook. Was a bit painful swiping $50 denominations, but worth it.

    • hey did you have to get 1300 worth of gift cards from bigw stores? do they have them in stock or do you have to go store to store to find enough of them?

  • Bought this using the aldi 10% off Amazon cards, great deal

    • Same. Was considering buying straight when this price came up, but glad I waited. $1,167.3 is a crazy good price for this.
