  • Mine false triggers all the time.
    30 days battery life.

Wow, sounds a lot better than the Ring doorbell already. Ring doesnt even record 90% of the time or connect to wireless properly. Even when it records, its records just a black screen, yet when you click live, there is visual.

My Ring doorbell's sensitivity is a joke unless I set it to the highest scanning aggression/sensitivity.

Eg. On the default/recommended sensitivity, there's a small chance that you can spend a few seconds each way walking up and away while in clear view of the camera in good lighting conditions and do a little dance while you're smack bang in front of the camera and still not get detected at any point or maybe only late while already part way through walking away.

Eg2. If I move fairly swiftly and do less of a dance in front of the doorbell, the chance of it not picking me up at default/recommended sensitivity is pretty high.

On the high scanning aggression / high sensitivity setting the device is maybe good for a few weeks or up to almost a couple of months, depending how buggy it decides to be over that discharge cycle. I'm referring to the fact it sometimes will drain battery more aggressively than other times just because its a shit device that seems to get itself confused and stuck in higher power states, and how often and how long it does that determines whether I'll be recharging it again sooner or later.

After playing around with the sensitivity setting on mine I almost never get a false trigger.

Battery lasts 3-5 months for me.

Bummer to hear yours sucks - did you change the settings?

      • i kept mine on the default sensitivity, and reduced the alert area, and this is the best result i can get.
I can't reduce the area any smaller or i miss people approaching.
it mainly false triggers on a bright day when a car drives by and probably casts a shadow or something.

        • I’ve got it on Human Only alerts, not All Motions. Maybe that will help?

All motions was bullshit but human only has been awesome, I’ve been able to increase sensitivity to second highest

We've had one for just over a year and pretty happy with it. We ended up wiring it for power to avoid having to replace/recharge battery.

  • Would there be a BF deal on 2 camera ones 🤔 ?

    • +1

Yep - just ordered one to replace my old Google/Nest doorbell :)

    • Not necessarily now but I got one a few weeks ago when GG was doing 20% code+10% cr+$30 combank rebate and $30 store cash. Which got it down to about 290 or 260 from 449 dependent if you could store cash a discount. Might be worth a wait for jb or gg.

Though I m disappointed the live view is pathetic with echo. Ring even at first gen was much more smooth and can 2 way talk..

I got this last week from jb hifi price matched it to $275 + $30 coupon when spending $200 or more so it totals to $245. Very impressed with it. Clear video for day and night.

If anyone is looking into not drilling any holes on the wall like me. I find this door mount that fits perfectly. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09YRC1CY2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_…

  • For anyone that just needs the doorbell without the home base it's $175 at amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/Eufy-T8210CW1-Video-Doorbell-Batte…. It's also the same price at Officeworks and JB and if you've got perks you can get another $10 off making it $165.

    • What are the benefits of having a home base?

      • You need the home base to run these units. The home base connects to your network, the doorbell connects to the home base and stores its footage there. Some people might already have a home base if they've got eufy cameras.

        • I see. So it would only have live streaming features without a home base then, or only stores minimal footages…

          • @fungorilla: I'm pretty sure it doesn't work at all without the homebase.

So if the courier guy doesn't even press the doorbell what's the use of this?

    • Doesn't your courier guy ring the doorbell?

      • Not always, try Amazon or auspost

    • It'll trigger when they walk up so you can see if they actually delivered the item

  • Does it still have this potential security risk?

    • i think the security risks for their doorbells goes further than this, there have been some new developments that i just found out about on LTT, WAN show, and Paul Moore just released some videos on this as recent as the past week.
I'm going to hold off on buying Eufy devices until these risks are resolved, annoying because i was really like the non-subscription model for camera & doorbells.
