haha, too many tabs on black friday >.<

  • Stop it, my wallet can only take so much this close to xmas.

The one with the V4 CPU is well worth the extra 10 bux.

    • Oh dear. Its arrived with a V3 CPU dammit.

      HP Z640 Tower Xeon E5-1650 v4 3.60Ghz 32GB RAM 512GB SSD Quadro M4000 8GB Win 10 Pro $343.20/$334.62(ebay.com.au)

And now when you click on that link above, it takes you to a V3. Whats going on?????

E: and when I click through my purchase history to contact the seller about this order, it changes from V4 to V3 on the listing right before my eyes. Thats dodgy af eBay. Luckily I still have the "The listing below has been updated by the seller, but you can see the item you purchased." page on the listing that shows I did buy V4 before it got ninja'd.

      • Let us know what eBay or the seller does about it. I'm curious as I'll be buying the M6000 build through the same seller.

Seller is good I can't fault them. They offered me $50 partial refund for this V4 screwup, but it wasn't worth it for me and seller wouldn't budge on a better deal for me. So they sent me a shipping label to print out and return at auspost. I already kept the packaging so its fairly easy, although the box is pretty damn heavy to lug into the post office.

I had to return one of the earlier M6000 ones I bought this way, and the process was seamless and seller was good. That one had this weird BIOS message every time you cold booted saying flash corrupt or something and halted the boot waiting for keypress. I couldn't use it like that. They sent me a replacement as soon as the crap one returned via their sent label.

Any good for my teen to game on, or will he tell me it's lame?

    • +1

Probably not ideal for gaming. The GPU in this one is definitely more focused at the creator side of things rather than gaming (and even then its pretty dated at this point)

      • +2

But for the money its pretty darn good specs. Is the teen an ozbargainer?

M4000 performs like a GTX960. The M6000 models last 2 weeks would have been the better buy for gaming.

the gpu is a maxwell equivalent to a gtx680

it has plenty of ram and six cores but i'd be going with a more current platform myself

  • I am getting green pixels on my screen flashing when on 4k top left of screen to top middle of screen.

1080p is fine no issues there.

    Any ideas peoples?

Got the M6000 and a new monitor.

Could it be GPU or monitor related?

    • +2

Try a different port on GPU? Then try a different machine/laptop to see if issue persists.

    • It's probably your video cable - you need a decent one to carry 4K video…

      • Trying that now

        • Are you going Display Port to Display Port ?

          • @Nom: It's looking like the monitor is the problem. Brand new DP cable. Also tried HDMI to DVI

            RX580 glitchy

Although the M6000 seems worse same sort of issue.

            • @Korban Dallas: What inputs does the monitor have ?

If HDMI then you might find Display Port to HDMI works…

              • @Nom: Ok definitely the monitor is stuffed. Brand new. Also has a few dead green pixels stuck.

                • @Korban Dallas: ☹️
Time for some warranty return !

                  • @Nom: Actually a bit of both. New cable fixed the flicker but 20 dead pixels remain.

  • Anyone figured out how to get 4x 3.5" drives into these connected to RAID controller? The built in HDD bays have special sata+power which can't be used with RAID controller connectors

    • Nah its a crap design. Especially considering the built in connector supports SAS. They should have stuck a SFF-8087 connector on the other end, not 2 flying SATA leads.

      • yep the sata connections are useless really… i can convert 2x 5.25" to 3x 3.5" but i need at least 4 bays for meaningful storage arrays which makes this case a bit hard to work with. So much space wasted… lol
