      • I tried that and didn't have any luck sigh

        • Me neither. @iSauce , was this through telstra chat? What team did you speak to? Thank you.

          • @loveyou3000: Sorry about the late reply guys,
Yeah I did it through the Telstra chat in App,
Choose General when the chat bot prompts you.

        • What excuse did you get and how Long after your sign up did you try?
I haven’t yet received a bill and I tried and got the excuse that it’s a jb Hi-Fi deal and telstra can’t change it
Apparently they can’t even add it to my account .

      • around what time did you contact chat?

  • This must be an awesome deal ! ….

for those of you who aren't existing Telstra customers.

My Telstra plan ends in like 1 week.

    B*stards

Wish there was some way around this.

Would love to snag this deal and replace my Note20 Ultra with the new Fold or S22 Ultra

    • +1

There is, just create a new number.

  • Can I have this deal if I m with belong now? Is the porting process difficult and long?

    • I don’t think you can. If you read the banner, Belong is excluded. I am using Woolworths mobile. But it is not excluded. Not sure I can port out to this plan. Any ideas? Hope someone can answer.

  • Talking to the salesman he told me Telstra are in the middle of integrating their system over and the idea being you can access the same deals at the Telstra Shop, JBs and TGG. So moving forward I wouldn't be surprised if the deals are as good when it comes to these gift cards

    • @donkcat im guessing you mean to say "surprised if the deals are not as good when it comes to these gift cards"?

      • Yes thats right

  • Wasn't as successful as some others, spoke to chat and they will give $10 credit for 6 months. I was a Telstra customer like 4-5 months ago because they seemed to want to clarify that I was in fact a new customer so I'm guessing those that are Telstra customers that signed up for a new service might have issues getting any credit.

    • I tried multiple times with no success via live chat

  • Is this deal still on?

    • should be until cob tomorrow 28th

  • No luck getting a credit applied via Telstra chat. Was informed that the credit being provided was ‘misinformation’ and that JB have their own offers which are applied on their systems.YMMV

    • Interesting, I have been guaranteed a "$20 bill waiver" for the remainder of my contract when I do purchase the plan tomorrow. 25 attempts through the chat, 70% were a no, all but the last one was a $10 bill waiver and now the guaranteed $20 waiver which I will leverage when I finalize the plan.

      • +1

Does that mean you're getting it at $69 per month?

        • Yes.

          • +1

@AircraftFreight: Did you sign up at JB Hi-Fi first and then jump on Telstra chat? Or Telstra chat first?

            • @Sambuca: Telstra first today and snagged a guarantee, then tomorrow I'll go into JB and sign up - then use the screenshot of the talk as confirmation, and praying that they'll just go along and put it through.

              • +1

@AircraftFreight: Be interesting to see how you go. Keep us updated!

              • @AircraftFreight: I've managed to get them to confirm the $20 off on Telstra chat. Please let me know how you, I'm a little worried they're not going to honour it and I'll be stuck with a $89pm contract!

                • @Sambuca: I am currently hoping for a call back - something came up this morning and not sure if I can make it to a JB

                • @Sambuca: I too confirmed on Telstra chat they will apply a $20 credit when purchasing this JB Hifi deal but I'm also worried about committing to it now in case when I get back to Telstra chat, they'll refuse.

                  • @Russticles: JB Hi-Fi said they have a 10 day cooling off period where you can cancel the contract. If they can't give me the credit they promised, I'll just cancel.

                    • @Sambuca: Oh that's good to know! Please report back once you've signed up and have attempted to get your $20 credit applied via Telstra chat. I might still go after work today to try my luck

                      • +1

@Russticles: Went in store to find that they don't have a 10 day cooling off period even though JB Hi-Fi chat said that they do. He said if I signed up and wanted to cancel the next day, they would charge me $1200 for the giftcard. Didn't want to take the risk that Telstra wouldn't hold up their end of the bargain with the $20 off credit per month so didn't go with the deal.

      • +1

        seriously? 25 attempts?
is there not a chance all 25 attempts would be listed under your name/number therefore they'd be pre-warned against you?

        • No clue. but Optus seems to always be messing up my bill every month for the past 17 months - if there's no pre indication there, I doubt there would be anything for Telstra

      • Are you able to provide a general outline on how to get them to budge on the credit waiver? When I tell them ‘mentioned I would get a $20 waiver on signup’ or was a previous customer porting back I get denied anything and referred to Jb. Would appreciate some help

        • Step 1) Dont go to sales or to the general department, go to the billing team as this worked for both the $10 and the $20 responses
Step 2) Go off the lines "G'day I am wondering if there would be any issues going forward when I have activated my plan with Telstra, JB Hi Fi $99 promo that if I am going to be eligible to receive your Telstra $20 pm port in credit for the remainder of my contract, this is probably my determining factor in choosing Telstra"
Step 3a) If saying yes you are eligible or something that confirms the waiver - you can buy the plan
Step 3b) If they say no, repeat
          Step 4) Buy the plan
Step 5) Once you have got the phone, contact Telstra and use a screenshot of the convo as proof and see if you can cross them over IF they say no
Step 6) You have unlocked a $69 (nice) p/m plan for the next 24 months and a $1,200 JB GC

          • +1

@AircraftFreight: Thanks mate will give it a go.

          • @AircraftFreight: Best of luck, many ppl will be waiting for your result. One thing from my experience is that even when you got approval from Telstra chat, it isn't guaranteed that your discount will be approved by referencing to your previous chat.

            • @yummypinacolada: Well, this is an interesting turn of events - the system went down in flames, and I will get a call tmrw to secure the plan hopefully

          • @AircraftFreight: managed to get the 20 discount from telstra
but they were hell bound to remind me that its a 99 plan, regardless of what was signed at JB hifi
the total for the plan comes to 79 per month.

not sure if I keep asking again on the webchat or just wait for the 1st bill

            • @dragonslayer: Hmm interesting, maybe try again. Or wait until the 1st bill arrives.

              • @AircraftFreight: totally just got another email from Telstra with the plan and order estimate showing $79 per month
it seems like the Jbhifi 10/month discount was directly from Telstra same as Goodguys were advertising
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740510

                • -1

@dragonslayer: Yeah, you are right, it is $99 p/m looking at the PDS

                  https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0024/9803/5810/files/JB-Hi…

I will see if I can find any interesting ideas to lower it down again from $79 to $69.

                  • @AircraftFreight: Hi mate,

                    Any luck?

I’ve pushed so hard these last couple days but they won’t budge noting I have the $10 discount applied already for 24 months and they’re not able to apply a further discount :(

                    • @1195qq: I haven’t even got my JB deal yet haha
A JB guy is supposed to call me in about 25 minutes and finalise it all (systems went down yesterday)

I’ll try to formulate a few things for ya just need to let my noggin think for a bit haha

                      • @AircraftFreight: I've got a guy calling me back too as I put the callback request in yesterday, he said they can still honour the deal. I also confirmed on Telstra chat that the $89 deal would go down to $69 for the 24 months. I've got screenshots so I'm hoping they don't back out of it.

                        • @Sambuca: Update - the plans confirmed and I am expecting a new sim, time for the Telstra support team

                          • @AircraftFreight: Update II - They have pre-approved the $20 credit for when my plan is fully activated (pending currently)

                            @loveyou3000@1195qq

                            ME:
Hello, before I purchased a new contract with Telstra. I enquired about a $20 port in bill credit, and they said that its all good after you purchase and then for me to contact you guys in the billing department. Any chance you can apply it?

                            TLS:
Thank you for sharing your enquiry. Do you mind if I ask , is this about JB HiFi Plan?

                            ME:
Yes, I just purchased a new $89 contract. I was told that after purchasing it I could contact you guys to apply the $20 credit. From another telstra sales rep in the sales department,

                            TLS:
                            ……
Also, with regards to the $20 credit, mainly it is being applied to the store/avenue where the order has been made. Which is JB HiFi. —- Were you given an instruction that they can apply it?

                            ME:
I was told to contact you guys. I was told yesterday by one of your colleagues in the sales department to contact you guys when I have gone through with the contract with JB. Once I have purchased the plan, any chance if you can apply it?

                            TLS:
…Your order is currently pending, once it has been submitted by JB and approved you can contact Telstra through this reference number xxxxxxxxx and we will apply your $20 port in credit for the next 24 months reducing your bill to $69 per month.

                            Good luck.

      • @AircraftFreight what did you ask for when you spoke to them?
Tried to DM you though says that youre not taking DM's :/

        • Make sure to go to the billing team and go off the lines of "G'day I am wondering if there would be any issues going forward when I have activated my plan with Telstra, JB Hi Fi $99 promo that if I am going to be eligible to receive your Telstra $20 pm port in credit for the remainder of my contract, this is probably my determining factor in choosing Telstra" and if it doesn’t work, repeat

          • @AircraftFreight: sorry… realised that you posted the same thing above to someone elses comment. Thank you anways :)

  • Has anyone tried porting in a number which had been on a non-Telstra MVNO for less than 30 days? Do you think they still have records on the backend and visible to JB staff if the number has completely disappeared from myTelstra?

    • The JB staffer was happy to get me to port out to another provider (I used Vodafone, but there's probably a better option), confirm the number has moved and then processed the deal right in front of me in store. I was already with Telstra since last year's deal.

      • Wow that's crazy. Can I ask at which store this happened? I tried two in Melbourne today and at both they outright rejected as mine was ported out for less than 30 days.

        • It was at a JB store in the Perth Northern Suburbs. The gentleman mentioned that the 30 days thing is only enforced by the person doing the deal (i.e. there are no back end system checks to confirm this before allowing the deal).

      • That JB store is probably going to cop it from Telstra. At the JB store I went to they used to do that and then the last one they did, Telstra made the JB store pay back the discounts, so they have stopped doing it now.

  • -1

Is there an option for change of mind if Telstra refuses to apply the port in credit after an agent initially promised to do it on chat?

    • +1

I spoke to JB HI-Fi on chat and they said there was a 10 day cooling off period for the contract

      • Went in store and apparently there is no cooling off period

  • Anyone know if I can get this on a business plan? The CIS is unclear and chat didn't know.

  • Prob a silly question, but do you get the gift card straight away when you sign up so you can use it on a new phone there? Or do they email it to you later?

    • +1

You should get the gift card after sign up complete, the staff will probably will ask you if you want buy a new phone or something else using that gift card so they can make another sales

    • +1

I just signed up and they told me that I would get the gift card once the port went through. It happened pretty fast for me but the salesperson told me that sometimes it could take a day from some of the smaller MVNO. In that case you might have to come back the next day but you'd still get the full value of the voucher from today plus the $10 discount.

Once I got the gift card I browsed the shop for a bit before purchasing something on the gift card

  • Curious to see if anyone got an email with the plan estimate showing $69 per month ?

    • manage to get chat down to $69

      • any tips
they kept arguing about the $20 discount on $99

      • Nice job mate! Is that $69 p/m for the remainder of the contract?

        • Would like to know this too!

          • +1

@Sambuca: Update: managed to get down to $69 also for 24 months also.
Even with getting a screenshot from chat before I went in to get the plan took forever with chat to finally get it approved.

I followed @AircraftFreight advice, and made sure got the ok before I got the plan via Telstra chat account/billing team.

Took me probably 6 chats before got the ok. Used private browser so could quickly restart chat anew if they said no.

            • +1

@loveyou3000: Great to hear! Enjoy your $19 pm plan with 300GBs of data!

            • @loveyou3000: Nice one! I decided to pass on the deal. I was getting too many conflicting answers from Telstra so I wasn't going to gamble on having to pay the $89 instead of $69. I was hoping to get the Pixel 7 Pro 256GB with the voucher but those phones aren't on sale anymore. Hopefully another deal like this will come up again soon.

              • +1

@Sambuca: Understand your situation, though as had the ok from them was not going to take a no for an answer haha.
Hope there are more deals too. Maybe they might have a $69 deal with $500 credit for 12 months in the future, though seems they are pushing more 24 month deals recently.
A person in this thread noted that JB are migrating systems to what Telstra uses (was confirmed by jb worker in-store), and with that not sure once that happens if these bonus deals will be as good, so I pounced on this deal which works out at $19p/m or $24 p/m (if considering voucher worth 10% off at $1080) for 300gb with Telstra.

  • I’m struggling with Telstra to get port in credit. I spoke with someone earlier today (already a Telstra customer with NBN) and they have my chat history. They said $20 port in no longer available and offer $15 for 12 months. I signed up with JB Hifi and then contact Telstra chat and they say not eligible. They also claim they cannot access JB Hifi plans…they are offering to apply $15 credit to my NBN bill for 12 months.

  • +1

Managed to get the $20 credit for 12 months. Telstra chat say it can be applied for a max of 12 months.

    • -1

Thsts still $240 off doing not much lol

      • Yes. Thats a lot of savings for 20 min on chat. One more interesting thing they said that after the initial 12 months credits might be applied again if requested

        • I did a jbhifi/telstra deal about 6 months ago and i asked Telstra chat then if i got another plan down the track could i get the $20 off plan again, she saud yes and i made her leave notes about it in my account

Long story short chatted to Telstra yeaterday and cinfirmed there were notes left about 6 months back and i can get it if i take this similar jbhifi/telstra deal 👍😆

      • Hey for me that’s like 1 free coffee here in Melbourne’s CBD

    • Is you monthly charge $79 or $69?

  • +1

Managed to get the $20 credit for 24months.Happy days.😎

    • was this done in store or online telstra chat?

    • Nice and thanks now we know its possible 😀

Edit: when does this deal end?

Edit again: whoops it's ended already lolz

All good these deals happen frequently 👍

    • What is your monthly charge? $79 or $69?

  • Telstra online chat

  • so the $1200 gift card is over as of today?

    • yeah was meant to expire cob yesterday

  • Hi, I managed to get an additional $10 off, asked for $20 but they said I had already got the $10 in store. Happy with that

  • Tried last night around 730 via account queries and got some guy who refused to give anything. Said I'm already getting the $10. The system does keep logs of previous chat too which may or may not be in your favour. I jumped on chat today. Just typed and it pretty much takes you to the department from the previous chat I think as there is no options to pick again. She said she had a read of previous chat and confirmed what I was asking when I ported and then said the credit should be automatically applied now. I then confirmed that it was $69 and she said yes. Didn't want to ask further and push my luck…but I would assume it's 12mths as that is generally the max time for extra credits to be applied.

  • Have tried around 5 Times over a few days with no luck. The last person said they can only do it If there's a note on the account before purchase
