  • Anyone received their 70k bonus yet? Just received my second monthly statement and still nothing.

    • Nah….still nothing. Similarly 2nd statement too.

      • +1

Kinda sneaky of them then since I was hoping to avoid the subsequent account fees by hitting the minimum spend in the first month.

    • Also nothing, met spend ~4 weeks ago…
Terms say up to 90 days.

      • Terms say up to 90 days.

They all say that but I've yet to actually experience a card taking that long (ie more than 3 statements) to redeem the points until now. The slowest I've experienced so far were with ANZ WBC STG and even then I got the points by the second statement. Guess I just had higher expectations since another CBA card I had last year for a cashback offer was paid out a little over a week after hitting the minimum spend.

        • Yes agree - this is approaching the longest I have had to wait but I've spent enough to avoid fees for first two months so hopefully they aren't far away.

          • @Tock: Have you received your points

            • @sakg: Nope, still waiting.

    • Have you received your points

Finally got my card after the worst application and new customer onboarding process i've ever had. Despite providing pay slips, ato payment summary, licence, passport, medicare, bank statement… they wanted a letter from my employer of over 15yrs. Mind boggling. Had a gut full of the stupidity of it all, had to lodge 2 complaints for this utter nonsense and eventually they let up and approved. Now had the card 10 days and its not even working in some stores. Just got declined in Bunnings. CBA are an absolute bunch of bumbling clowns.

    • +3

I had problem using the card after activation. Apparently you need to insert the card and enter your pin for first time use.

      • Thanks. How strange, haven't had to do that for wow a decade maybe. I've done many transactions online and pretty sure i used it in store as well but ill give that a go next time if it happens again.

      • Did you have to wait until transaction went from pending to processed? Did a chip and pin transaction which is now pending. Still can’t seem to use the card online.

    • Having the same run around from CBA now, stepwise request for documents including my contract of employment, never been asked for this before. Half a mind to scrap the application

  • Am a bit new to QFF. Can I cancel the credit card anytime after receiving the 70,000 bonus QFF? Say if i met the $5000 spending criteria, and the bonus points are loaded into my QFF account. Can I then cancel the credit card? or do I have to use it for 12 months otherwise the bonus points are taken back?

    • +1

Can I cancel the credit card anytime after receiving the 70,000 bonus QFF?

Yeah pretty much if you have no further use of the card, it's safe once it hits your QFF account (and not just shown on the statement a few days before). After all these years none of the cards or banks have bothered to try to 'claw back' points from churners yet since they're obviously still earning enough from the minimum spends and annual fees.

  • +4

Might have to get onto this mob. 3rd statement today and still no sign of bonus points.

    • Hmm not looking forward to my third statement in about a week's time then. Damn it CBA

    • +1

Plenty of us keen to hear how you go - I am up to 2nd statement and no bonus. Pretty annoying given the monthly fee and the aim to churn.

  • Anyone received their bonus point yet?

    • +1

Just received 3rd statement and still nada. Will probably get the usual spiel about waiting the full 90 days so until someone here gets a 4th statement to confirm then might just be typical bank delay games.

      • I'm waiting for my 2nd statement but got my points credited today!

        • Damn either they're finally speeding the process up or you're one of the lucky ones haha. I got a relative to apply for this as well at the end of last year and they're also waiting on the 4th statement too.

  • +1

Was expecting the worst based on the other comments here but finally got the 70k in my third statement. Also I previously couldn't log into Commbank Awards as it kept directing me to a logon and logout loop, but now for some reason I suddenly can and the points are visible on there as well albeit shown as double quantity Award Points instead of Qantas.

  • Any views on how long it took for card to arrive once approved? Applied 16FEB, two different sets of docs requested, still pending review. Flying on holiday 10MAR and hoping to use overseas given the nil international fees. Thanks!

    • +1

I called them and asked them to express post as I was travelling soon. Arrived after 3 days. Have applied for an additional cardholder and it's hopeless!

      • For free? I asked and they said they could send registered mail for $20….

        • Yep they did but I asked since I've been a commbank customer for ages

          • @ilovefood12345: Thank you. Called up and asked. Card has already been posted so decided to stick with that rather than cancel and re issue!

  • Are the government payments counted towards eligible spend?

    • +1

Not unless you do it through BeemIt or Sniip or auspost postbillpay and use paypal. Pretty much if you do it directly it typically doens't count towards the minimum spend, gotta route it indirectly through something else.

      • Taken from Things you should know section of the card page on OP
" You’re unable to get these points if you use an intermediary platform such as PayPal for these transactions."
So no earning points for Paypal payments for e.g. council rates but it counts towards minimum spend?

        • +1

I didn't happen to use paypal with this card, but have with previous amex and big4 bank cards and received the corresponding points (0.5x 1x etc), and it definitely counts for the minimum spend requirement regardless since paypal is typically just treated like a retail facility. Since I don't tend to hold these cards for longer than it takes me to reach the minimum spend, the main target is the sign up bonus so even if I only get 0 points for the minimum spend it's not really a big deal.

        • +1

Just wanted to clarify this: you will earn 1 point/$1 for PayPal transactions. I've just got my card last week and made a few small test transactions through PayPal and got the points.

I think the wording on CommBank site is very confusing. "You’re unable to get these points if you use an intermediary platform such as PayPal for these transactions" is listed just bellow:
          - 3 points for every $1 spent (International)
          - 2 points for every $1 spent (supermarkets, department stores, petrol)
Then it follows on with "You get 1 Awards point …. for every $1 spent on other purchases".

So it means that for those normally bonus 3 or 2 points, you will only earn 1 point if paid through PayPal as it will be classified as "other purchases"

Hope this helps someone, as it was a major sticking point for me trying to decide whether I switch to this card.

Just a little tip for anyone wanting to activate the card and add to Apple wallet before the card arrives.

Go to CBA app, go to the reward offers, activate an offer (coles, Menulog etc…), there will be a blue link “Check eligible card”, click on that and you will see the last 4 digits of your new card. And that’s all you need to activate your card before it gets delivered.

Obviously it could be a security issue if your card got stolen in the mail…. But if you are desperate to use it you can.

    • Good to know, though wish they could all just take a leaf out of Westpac's book and implement their system where you get to access the card through the app as soon as you're approved.

    • I suppose you can lock it when you're not using it, until the card arrives.

    • I got approved on 17/03/2023 and activated with this method on 18/03/2023. I’ve spent about 1k on it so far and noticed that if I click on “View Awards” in the app it’ll just give me an error. On NetBank under account info I see Awards Program: No.

Did anybody have this issue before? Strange to have an awards credit card not be linked to an awards account.

      • Interesting, have you contact them?

This promo has been extended to 1st June

  • Just FYI

    Approved 6th December 22
    Met spend within 2 months
    Points credited 7th March 23

3months for QFF points to credit.

  • And of bloody course the 4th month statement is 3 days late in arriving now when I'm expecting the points to actually be processed and getting ready to finally close it, and yet the monthly fee has already been charged even though I actually used the card up to the minimum threshold this past month. Almost feels personally targeted at this point haha.

  • I didn't apply for this but received a card in the mail. Is this normal?
