Would you get the Toshiba Canvio Advance 2TB portable drive for the $59 + delivery over say the Seagate Expansion 2TB portable for just a few dollars more at $63 over the counter or C&C at Officeworks with local returns warranty. 3 years warranty on that too as well. It's probably better too as the Seagate portable drive can be shucked to remove the 2.5" HDD if you need or want to except that maybe voids the warranty. As far as i'm aware Toshiba portable hard drives can't be shucked to remove the internal drive out of it as i think the USB port might be soldiered onto the internal drive itself.

I know that it's only got a USB 3.0 interface instead of USB 3.2 gen 1 but maybe who cares when a mechanical hard drive can't even any where near saturate the USB 3.0 bus. And also if you want to connect it to USB-C port all you need is a USB 3.0 Micro Type B to USB-C cable.

    • FWIW I've forgotten how old the Toshiba Canvio 2TB plugged into the xbox is. gets used daily including powering on and off each time the xbox is used
and this one is BEIGE, how cool
      .

      • The only problem is the $22.60 shipping to post code 4701 kills the deal for me. They are trying to charge me more to ship from Sydney to regional QLD then from Sydney all the way to Perth. It should be the same flat shipping price nation wide but it seems as you change the post code to various regions around the country it gets more steeper the further from Sydney you go. In my opinion there should be a flat rate price for shipping a hard drive nation wide. Not like this jacking the shipping price up by over double for a price grab just because you live in another state. I really don't like these companies which do this.

Can go into the local OW store and get that Seagate drive for $63 every day. Screw any business which wants to charge me $22.60 just to ship a tiny portable hard drive.

        • $22.60, yeah nah
          .

  • HDD is expired I think

    Edit: discount shows in cart

  • So I have a few E1 blind drivers, but one of them seems to have a messed up firmware and Home Assistant ZHA doesn't adopt it properly. The other one works perfectly and picks up the right Quirk to use. So I wanted to reflash the firmware of the wonky one, make sure I can get it to work before investing in more blind drivers, but didn't have an aqara hub with which to do it…… And then along comes this! If nothing else, at least the previous seller and/or aqara support will talk to me if I have an aqara hub (they didn't want to talk to me with the xiaomi hub or home assistant, even though I had two blind drivers and one worked fine and one didn't with both of those).

  • Is this even a good price for the Aqara E1 Roller Driver?

$110 on aqara's aussie ebay store with a store voucher, not including a hub, is the cheapest I have seen recently (free shipping). My order now from shopping express included free shipping too, which was unexpected but nice.

They seem to be sold out or unavailable on aliexpress. Amazon Au doesn't have them, amazon UK bundled with hub is about 95 pounds delivered to australia. 75 pounds for just the blind driver.

      • Fair enough, thanks. I’ve not used one before, are they quiet and easy enough to use/install? Might have to look at some more reviews..

        • Quieter than my cheap zemismart in-cylinder motors, but not quiet as-such. You'll definitely notice it turn on if you've set a timer.

Install was easy: 2 screws into the window frame for the bracket, then the unit slides onto the bracket and clips into place. It also comes with 3M tape as an option instead of screws, but as I own this place I went with the included screws. Using them is easy at the unit, just press a button and it goes. Using it with the zigbee hub - I've had mixed success with a xiaomi mijia ZigBee 3.0 hub and Xiaomi mi home app (was working, then wasn't, for one of them). Similar experience with Home Assistant and my sonoff ZigBee 3.0 dongle. One works perfectly, the other works kind of (the dodgy one doesn't get detected as an aqara specific blind for some reason, but the good one does. Both units bought at the same time from the aqara eBay store)

@salem: Thanks for the feedback. I bought one anyway, I hope it’s decent like your ‘good’ one ;)
