good deal, lucky i didnt pull the trigger on black friday, saved 100 bucks. thanks OP

  • +12

great deal for a good vaccuum, just be prepared to replace the battery (or better yet call Dyson just before the warranty runs out to report your battery capacity reduced significantly)

    • +11

You can claim 3 parts on warranty without needing to send in the machine for inspection. Battery, body, floor head, would be best value

      • Is that like some limit or something?

        • No, you could try claiming ACL after that but not likely for battery.

          • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: May i know What is ACL?

            • +28

@sahilk: Anterior cruiciate ligament. In your knee. One that goes away in footballers (or soccer players) and they need surgery. So don't play soccer while cleaning your house

            • +6

@sahilk: Australian consumer law - you should generally get what you pay for. The more you pay, the longer it is expected to last.

      • Ooo didn’t know this. How long is the warranty?

        Please tell me it’s 2 years 🙏😅

        • Its 2 years

        • +1

and after you claim the body, battery and another piece. You could just buy the remaining piece, eg:filter and lance, and have a complete fully assembled second unit.

          • +4

@Frozensage: haha is that the hack or something, hi my vacuum cleaner body is broken

            Sends new body

Hi my vacuum cleaners battery is dead

            sends new one

Hi my vacuum cleaners stick and roller is broken

            Sends new one

            • +1

@squaredonut: well it's like I dunno what the problem is but the suction isn't strong and the thing dies after 5min of use. So they sent me new battery, then a new body, then a new filter. And when I asked for a new head they said no lol

      • Body? Would they constitute a physical damage?

    • +4

Is the v10 known to have battery issues?

      • I think people who charge them every small use (using the wall thing with power plugged in) probably get more battery issues as the battery spends most of its life between 80 and 100% charge.

        • +4

Yes, but if they are going to provide a wall mount shouldn't we expect some intelligence in the charging controller to prevent these issues?

    • -1

Yeah set a calendar reminder a month out from end of warranty.

Post warranty they didn't care one bit about Australian Consumer Rights / ACCC. Maybe a fine and some bad PR might change their view.

      • +1

That's very unusual to hear, most people I've heard from are looked after. I'd recommend writing a formal letter of complaint per ACCC https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-…
If that doesn't resolve it, you should be able to get assistance if making a reasonable claim by contacting your state or territory consumer affairs office.
Edit: As always, speaking as an individual trying to help, not in any official capacity

        • yeah in the past they were good, i tried to get a battery that had died replaced after about 18 months but as it was a refurb model (sold by Dyson themselves) they said no only 12 month warranty and wanted $100 for a new battery again with only 12 month warranty.

    • -1

They have a 10 to 15 year gurantee on v10 and above batteries.

  • +1

Damn… Bought the V8 last week. And used my $80 eBay voucher. Can't return and get it back. Ahhh well

    • I don't think you can anyhow use your $80 voucher with this one.

  • +1

Darn it… bit the bullet on the v8 last week

    • Don't be too sad.
V8 is much lighter and easy to handle. So there are pros and cons

  • Another 200, just thinking whether i should go for v11

    • +1

I dont think its worth it. Slightly better peformance (the v10 is still fantastic) and an lcd screen. Not worth the upgrade in my view.

      • We got V11 on Monday for $792.99

      • +1

For reference, that gets you 23% more suction, the LCD which informs of battery level, blockages, filter maintenance, upgrades from a screwed in 58Wh battery to a newer, click in 91Wh battery. Provides extra redundancy if battery life degrades as you can have multiple batteries rather than having to completely replace.

        • So, you think the v11 is a better buy?

          • +4

@LXE3: From 3 years of working at dyson, my personal experience is that the battery on V11, Outsize & V15 is more durable in the long term. My personal V11 still gets the same battery life it did when new, whereas my brother had to replace his V10 battery, each after 3 years. This obviously varies by use case though.
It depends on floor type - for an all/predominantly hard floor house, I'd save the money and get V10 as you get the fluffy head and the low/medium settings are sufficient.
For a house with more carpet and shedding animals, the V11 does seem to perform better. I also like the sound of V11 more than V10, it's less shrill to the ear which isn't important, but counts when using it regularly.

            • @Anthropomorphised: Thanks so much. I’m upgrading from a v8 which I use everyday. My house is all tiles but for four bedrooms and we have no pet hair. So, maybe I’ll stick with the v10.

              • @LXE3: For that sort of use case, I'd say you'll get a better clean with the fluffy head on the V10. Enjoy and make sure to register it with dyson when you purchase

                • @Anthropomorphised: Extra benefits to register?

                  • @Royale with cheese: counts as receipt and creates a profile with dyson, means if you need extra tools, warranty help or anything of that sort that they know when it was purchased, the service history of the machine and what tools are compatible.

                    • @Anthropomorphised: So register when you need to claim the warranty? 🤪 then warranty starts from that period?
I bought from Bing Lee so i imagine their receipt is a good enough proof?

                • @Anthropomorphised: Thank you! I really appreciate the advice.

            • @Anthropomorphised: Any deal on v11? Looking to get one for a 4 bedroom with carpet, hard floor and tiles including a pet!

  • +2

worth upgrading from the V6 Animal that I bought 4 years ago? It's still going strong.

    • +3

Recently did this because the v6 kept needing parts. Its definetly better, bin is larger and easier to empty (this is the best upgrade imo), picks up dirt a bit better, battery lasts longer. But is it worth $700 for that based on your v6 still working fine, thats your call.

      • +3

Yeah my battery still lasts a good 12-15minutes on a charge and it's got great suction power after I cleaned the filter in it so I think I'll sit this one out.

        • I'm still on a DC59 (older V6). Still doing well too! I did buy a double capacity battery for it though.

          • @bleemo: I have an 8yr old dc44 which i think is the same as dc59, and after using a v10 for a while now there is no comparison.

  • +2

Would get a refurbished one again if they came up. $360 after stacked discounts was a bargain. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/503621

    • Ah the good old days - snagged one then and it's still going strong.

Might grab another at this price for family - I'm not hopeful there'll be refurbished ones at that price again :(

    • What are the discounts you are referring to?

  • Hey all, the v10 absolute + an ok machine? Was looking at Samsung jet90, but this is considerably cheaper..

    • I cant comment on the Samsung but it does get good reviews. It isnt the flagship model anymore so prices are dropping.

  • I got the Miele Triflex HX1 on Black Friday for $407 which I can still return. Is this better? And worth $300 more? I know nothing about these things but do note my last Dyson lasted 10 years.

    • I would go with Dyson for better quality, I have the Miele too it doesn't last.

  • -4

dang, paid 649.00 for Dyson V10 Cordless Vacuum back in Aug and haven't even opened yet.

    • +2

Dang, for only $50 more you could've got this!

  • Is this a 2022 model with the updated anti-tangle motorbar head?

  • Does the V10 come without the problems of the V7? I have the V7 and have the issue of it not charging properly. Sometimes only works for 10 seconds which is so frustrating having to wait for hours for it hopefully to fully recharge. It is a known problem.

    • +1

Not that ive read. Its a completely different design to the v7 and v8.

  • +1

    Great work mate. Thanks

  • +1

lasted me good 3 years, the battery gone and the trigger broken, the wand connector broken and the brush not rolling

  • +1

this is not 2022 model. has no anti tangled feature.

    • They actually come in year models ?

    • +4

It says, it comes with anti tangle motorbar attachment. What else is anti tangling?

      • where does it say that? it just says "motorbar"

    • +1

Can confirm they have the hair removal vanes - based off Dyson support's response:

"The Motorbar Cleanerhead and the Digital Motorbar Cleanerhead both work the same way to clean debris and fine dust on your hard flooring and carpets. They have hair removal vanes to reduce hair tangling around the brushbar."

So if it has the 'motorbar' cleanerhead listed…it should have the anti tangling tech.

    • +4

I just asked dyson chat, they confirmed it is the anti tangle motorbar

  • My family has this model and the Miele Triflex. Everyone prefers the Miele. Miele Triflex is brilliant.

    • Why. What’s better about it. Also, hx1 or hx2. Thanks

  • Just recently purchased https://www.samsung.com/au/vacuum-cleaners/stick/vs9500al-be… for the same price, should I cancel it and take this Dyson instead??

    • Honestly, just keep the Samsung. Seems to be the all in one solution where you don't need to worry about purchasing extra accessories because everythings included. Also includes the integrated clean station.

    • The bespoke jet is more comparable to the V15 than the v10, at $700 get the bespoke its a better vac than the v10

      • Bespoke is closer to V11 than V15 given the lower suction, lack of adaptive suction features. It's a good machine if willing to keep buying bags. Just a warning, some reviewers have noted that Samsung is only committing to manufacturing the bags whilst machines with the docking station are sold. Unsure if this is true, but is worth keeping in mind the relative difference in parts support after discontinuation of the model

        • Some real world cases have the bespoke with greater suction
This is a great comparison between the V15 and the Samsung Bespoke. https://www.vacuumtester.com/samsung-bespoke-jet-vs-dyson-v1…

As you can see the Bespoke is far more comparable to the V15 than the V11

Couple of things on the bags, you dont have to use the auto empty station, you can empty the same way you do the dyson. It’s difficult to see why Samsung would stop selling the bags, it can remain another source of revenue post sale of the vacuums.

          At the same

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought one.

  • +1

Bought a V8 from Bing Lee on Monday this week (BF sales) and it came down to just under $390 (after CR). All Dyson vacuums are good, I don’t like spending money on marketing gimmicks such as detect, v10, V11, 99.9% suction, sensor light etc. They all have good suction power!

Of course if you have a big house and vacuum more than once a day then get one which has a bigger rubbish container but for a majority of the population a simple V7 or a V8 would do. It will last you good 4-5 years (or more) if you look after it.

    • Which one are you talking about? Do they still have that promo? Thanks

      • +8

I believe the V8 deal that I am referring to is gone but if you are desperate then search online to obtain a best price for a V7 or V8. Otherwise, hang around until the Boxing Day sales and I am certain something will come up soon. Be wise, save or invest a few $$$ by buying what you need instead of getting a FOMO attack (no offence) by getting sucked into these offers.

        • +1

This man speaks the truth! Fight back against deal fomo

          • @Fozdog: A man needs to eat (or clean his house) so its a practical thing. Yes don't waste money on things you don't need which is common sense

            • +1

@Royale with cheese: @Royale with cheese Agreed but that isn't deal fomo. If you need a vacuum cleaner and you want a solid one, this is a great deal. However 'upgrading' from like a v6-8 our similar is more deal fomo

              • +1

@Fozdog: Depends on the purpose. I bought a V11 as i need it for my house. But yes we need to watch out stretching ourselves beyond our means. It 💩s me when people are complaining that RBA did a dodgy on them when they should have considered every scenario in making purchases like buying a house etc but common sense aint that common

        • If anyone just wants floor cleaning, without extra frills or a wall dock, the V7 advanced is a good option. It's a V7 in name only, as it has the V8 motor and battery, but just has the floor head, tube, crevice and combination tool in the box. It was available for $399 on black friday, however isn't normally stocked as it's an event sku for sales periods

          • @Anthropomorphised: So is the v10 & v11 dust bin interchangeable? They have diff part numbers but look identical…

            • @FarQ: I wouldn’t recommend swapping the two, same with v15. They’re each slightly different as needed by the machines updated engineering. It might fit on, but may not correctly seal for example.

      • +1

Keep an eye on new dysons on marketplace. I have seen v7 and v8 going for $200-250. They don't last long so don't think twice when you see one

    • @dK69 totally agree with dK69. They all have good suction power ! I have a V6 from yearsssss ago, and bought a V10 when moved to a bigger place thinking I’ll need a stronger machine, but continued to use the V6 concurrently. The V6 is still going strong ; only needed to change battery once so far.

  • +1

Why do they have so many models.

Is the v10 at this price worth it against a newer/bigger model? V15?
    About half price!
