Ryobi 18V One+ 2.0Ah Jet Blower Kit with Battery $99 (Was $149) + Delivery ($0 with OnePass/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Bunnings

1210

Not one to post more than every two years. But this is a decent deal. I think the icing on the cake is it's free delivery if you have OnePass. The blower is a lot better than the crappy workshop blower that is always on special.

  • Cheers I've been waiting for these to go on sale!

  • Great. I can return the workshop one now.

    • Workshop one is stronger?

      • The little one? That's weaker than the regular blower. This bigger blower might be better but I have the workshop one and a regular one.

How does this compare to Ozito one may I know? Bought the Ozito one with the whipper snipper from last deal for $99 and I found them both to be excellent for my needs.

    • +1

The $99 Ozito blower and snipper is rubbish. Only passable on small areas

      • I beg to differ. With a couple of 4ah batteries I was able to clear entire empty block of 800 m2 full of weeds and grass. It struggled with larger bushes (obviously) but for any grass (even thick grassy patches as as tall as my knee level) it did wonders. Best thing is, I don't have to change nilon cables like on traditional whipper snippers (which is an absolute pain), I went through only 4 of nilon cutting pieces for the whole block (which are super easy to put on, obit take a second). I was pleasantly surprised and can't recommend them enough.

        • but for any grass (even thick grassy patches as as tall as my knee level) it did wonders.

FYI, the basic range is 1.5ah batt. Not the18v x 2 premium stuff you might be referring to. Love to see a YouTube video of you cutting knee tall weeds and grass with it 🤣

      • i have the snipper and it does wonders on my yard

    • Better. Blows more.

workshop 1 is better for camping. also use for vacuum bags during travel

  • Hey guys, is this jet blower any good for drying car (after a wash)?

Trying to compare this with the workshop blower on the other post which some users do use it on cars (partially, and then finish off with a towel like Bowdens).

    • Would also be interested to know, that's the main reason I'd be buying it

    • +1

I have the workshop one for this purpose. It's ok. For car use, you need a small mouth on it.

    • +1

Agree with hammo, that you need a small mouth. I bought a 36v jet blower just for the battery (on clearance). And it was rubbish. I sold the Blower and kept the battery, made for a very cheap 4ah 36v battery.

My twin 18v battery Ozito blower is a better all round blower.

But again, you need a small outlet otherwise the big mouth on these is useless for drying a car.

    • +1

expect air speeds up to 145km/h

Doubt it. My petrol Stihl one is rated up to 250km/h and can barely blow small drops away.

    • +2

I use a leaf blower, but not exactly to dry the car. It's more of getting water out of little nooks and crannies. It's annoying wiping down and drying with the chamois and then later on, having a drip trail - eg. window trims, side mirrors, water spots on the grill

      • Which leaf blower do you have? Other users say a small mouth is needed, which I believe for the Workshop blower an extension is available.

Is yours of a similar setup?

        • +1

Just an ancient Ryobi one. It's so old, I don't even have records for it, but it must have been right at the start of when Ryobi switched to Lithiums. It's defo a small mouthed blower. I don't suppose it's the most powerful, but it does the job that I need it to.

    • Good for drying hair (maybe)

  • What are you using this one for apart from leaves? Thanks

    • +9

      For cleaning chickens

    • The Ryobi website is just picking up the live Bunnings price since they're pretty much joined at the hip these days. Bunnings is mentioned multiple times on the page you linked.

      • Not joined at the hip, Bunnings are an official Ryobi reseller.

        • +2

          With almost zero real competition?

          • +2

@goingDHfast: Yeah they have an exclusive arrangement as the only Ryobi stockist. Lack of competition doesn't help with prices for the the consumer.

              @Abbi: God I miss Masters.

              • +1

Bunnings has an ACCC approved exclusive for Ryobi in Australia.

      https://www.accc.gov.au/public-registers/authorisations-and-…

      • Under what circumstances does ACCC approve or not approve exclusive?

      • Wow

Above slightly expensive from Ozito is a beast to blow air ,double the batteries for more power and run time.I have been using this and pretty sure that it beats this Ryobi blower.

    • That link is just skin only

Garden noob here, can someone explain the uses between this vs. the garden blower (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-garden-bl…) ?

    • Look at the last picture on the Bunnings listing in your link. The fan rotor spins in a different axis, which results in a different shape of airflow.

I think it depends on the distance, shape and weight of the things you're trying to move, which is optimal.

      • I have used the garden blower which quotes 245kmh vs this listing which is 145kmh. The 245kmh could not blow twigs caught slightly in the deck for reference. Smashes leafs, dog hair and dirt/grass with no issue.

  • Whats the difference between this and R18XBLW30?

    • The R18XBLW30 is the one I was looking at too. Think I will stick with it too, looks like it should be better for what I want.

  • 375KM wind power vs 145kmh.

I hate these things with a passion. They say they speed up your clearing of leaves and dust. Almost everyone on my street owns one and they take half a hour just lazily blowing 5 leaves about on their driveway and blasting the turbine noise for ages. A broom or rake is 10 times faster.

    • +9

      Solution: Get a new street

      • +1

If only it were that easy. If it was you'd see dozens of people on every street moving every few years.

    • +3

      Solution: Chill out

      • Sure. That'll make the high pitch turbine noise smashing through my house for an hour less annoying.

    • Serious question, what's the efficient way to get those dried leaves and dirts into the bin with broom and rake? I always see people blowing them onto the main road.

      • Yeah thats the thing, they always blow it elsewhere or against the sides of the yard. With a rake its easy. Just pull it towards the area you want. If its a wheelie bin then just use your hands. I mean they're just leaves. These houses act like the heart of autumn just smashed down 40 trees worth of leaves onto their yard.

        • +2

The optimal solution is to blow any dust, dirt, leaves onto the lawn, then you mow them up or mulch them etc

No sweeping, no dust pan brushing, no waste moved to the street and drainage system

My habit is to edge my lawn, blow everything back onto the lawn and then mow it up

          Seems to do the trick

          • @billdsl: this is my way as well….we are truly enlightened in the way of the lawn cut

    • +1

Thanks for saying what the (silent) majority think about these things.

  • Ummm Ryobi I'm gonna need a sale on your fans.

  • ive got this from a past deal…
its very good….but not great. dry leaves lawn clippings etc are a breeze, but it has trouble with wet & very fresh grass….could be a bit stronger (20-30%) and it would be perfect
    battery is great, charger adequate

    • How long a full 2 A battery work for blowing? 30 min?

      • not sure…ive never run it that long to tell you the truth

      • based on the last picture on the listing 16min on the provided battery

  • I'm waiting for this to drop in price:
    https://sydneytools.com.au/product/makita-dub184st-18v-50ah-…

However the Ryobi is tempting at that price

    • That Makita (skin only) is a redemption giveaway from Makita at the moment. Lots of people are flogging them brand new on marketplace, I just picked one up unopened for $150.

Used it once so far and it really impressed me how powerful it is for the size

      • Interesting…. I don't do marketplace however I will keep an eye on it. I'm not part of the Makita eco system so I'll need the battery pack, however it looks like you can pick them up off eBay at a reasonable price

  • Had to return it, very weak

    Does this suck?

  • Would this be able to blow the leaves off a trimmed hedge? I usually use a small rake to get all the leaves off the top of the hedge after trimming it but will have leaves remaining stuck in between the stem and branches.

    • +1

should be right…wet & fresh grass is the only thing i find it has issues with
its not a heavy unit either so easy to use on a ladder etc

  • Will this shift sand from pavers?

    • yep no worries

….will easily blow scoria rocks and pebbles if that gives you an idea of power

  • Just the cost for the battery unit alone makes it a pretty good deal, but id much rather the more powerful unit which is abit more but skin only :/ torn hahah

  • Another thing for Bunnings to tell me is out of stock

    • To be fair looking at my previous SMS from Bunnings it's 50/50. I got it this time. I've got 2 deals refunded and 2 went through. The camp light for $50 I sold the battery for $45 so was pretty happy with that.

  • Anyone had their order cancelled?

    • Mike just came through but it can differ store to store

  • Has anyone used this to clean their pc?

  • Bought one. thank sOP . 2 left at O'Connor store WA - Lawn care isle 18 I think. not marked special but scanned $99
