    • yep exactly

      • Is that yes it works?

        • +1

          yes ofcourse

          • @ivyholmes: Does Yes mean, 1 tap or 10 taps for purchase?

            • +2

@yerfdog3: 10 taps, 1 tap per card, dont forget write down how much $ value each card as a reminder. tell to the staff eg. $50, tell the staff $50, then tap the card has $50 on it, repeats until 10 cards finish

              • @ivyholmes: And the pin numbers that each card has. Does this need to be entered at purchase?

                • +3

@yerfdog3: No need pin if you tap, need pin if you swipe the actual card only. Always bring the actual card just incase the system error and they need to refund back to you, in this case you need pin when they are returning, but you can always return via tap, no need pin, just press enter

                • +1

@yerfdog3: expired date is 12/29 when you put it on ur gwallet/applewallet/samsungwallet

  • Was just at Coles Braybrook there was a fair number of $50 Teen, Him and Her GC left if you guys are interested

  • Plenty in Nambour, Qld. Got 5x$100 Home, discounted and marked as working on Google/Apple/Samsung Pay on the cover (not EFTPOS thus).

  • My wife is at Garden City (QLD), plenty of $50 of all types. She picked up 5*$50 Ultimate Everyone at 11:03 a.m.

  • Wentworth Point Coles still have a lot in stock. Homes $100.

  • I bought the wrong one and can't refund

    • The discount is instant and should display on the checkout, how did you end up with wrong one?

      • I didn't check the price bought the card network one

        • Tough luck! Hope you did not buy too may of those.

  • +1

There are heaps at the Randwick store. They also have heaps at the back and the coles staff members were opening up new packets to refill the shelves.

I find it hard to believe anyone would hide them given they appear to have so much stock

  • 5x Home

  • Only Him and Home have $100 denomination?

    • +1

Home also has $100 but remember varied load ($50-500)is not included

  • +1

The coles staff said they are watching for those trying to buy more than 5 in the same store with different transactions. But always can try different stores

    • +4

Simply wait for those staff members' shifts to be over. ;)

    • -1

Give them more money?! How criminal!!

All this limiting and patrolling seems pretty stupid to me. They should simply let it loose and pass on the info on card hoarders to ASIO's AML unit.

      • +4

My local one already picking arguments with customers at 8:05 in the morning.

First I was told not to use manned checkouts but self serve because I was holding up other customers (what the hell am I then?!?)

Secondly I was accused of splitting transactions when I only had five cards. FFS.

Should complain to head office and ask if me buying gift cards is not considered a customer.

        • Yeah, it's weird. Sometimes I get the sense that Australia is a communist country in capitalist drag, in which retail feels more like public service, as if it was a favour (which public service isn't either).

          • +1

@wisdomtooth: I guess that’s what happens when one is constantly treated like dirt and now they grasp at any little bit of power to make other peoples lives difficult.

        • +2

what the hell am I then?!?

To them you are not a real customer as you are literally stealing 15% of their profits, which will be taken out of their paycheck next month.

          • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Must be man. I swear the discounts must be subsidised by the staff. Otherwise there is no logical reason for such behaviour.

  • I checked Ultimate GC website and read through some comments here but still unsure if i can redeem 8 x $50 cards for a $400 transaction at Officeworks or JB Hifi. Can anyone please clarify? Or post a link to where i can find the info? TIA

    • +2

You can but you have to purchase the stuff that you want to buy instore. I believe OW will allow you to split transaction in between 8 cards, if they don't allow you, just call them before and tell them that you are going to purchase something with 8cards. You can also do pricebeat of things you'd like to buy in OW 5%, just call them tell them where do you find that stuff cheaper than OW

    • +1

You can in store, staff should have no problem just telling them you need to do 8x $50 visa transactions. Just remove the cards from the packaging and scratch the pin to make it easier.

Note some staff/stores do not allow you to do this to purchase other gift cards.

      • Thanks @ivyholmes @JordanM

  • have eftpos ones can I use more than one at 99bikes?

    • +1

Yes…I just used 30 cards. Their system spat the dummy but it was after all 30 cards went through and they just manually fixed it on the invoice.

Oops just realised you said Eftpos…I used the Visa ones. I think it would be no issue though as they have a swipe machine anyway and can do individual payments.

      • Yes hopefully they put it through as split payment… I need to go instore as eftpos

  • At lunch break, I think I saw a Broden come in (didn't even enter the shop to go to the GC aisle), and go straight to the service desk to pay for their cards.
Their transaction went through fine. WTF!

Isn't there some checks to see if you have taken cards from a different retailer, or from a different store?

    • +1

Should be charged with shop lifting

  • Easily 10k in cards at my local.

    • 30+ $50-$100 EFTPOS Homes
    • 35+ $50 Visa Everyone
    • what are you going to do with them?

      • +1

Misunderstanding. There is still that much left at the store. I.e. Basically no one is an ozbargainer in my area lol

        • Oh i thought u have bought those in total 10k lol

    • Wow, which store?

    • Same, all three stores in my town, easily 30+ $100 Homes

  • I thought the expiry date would be 3 years from today.
When I check balance online, the first card has an expiry of 2029. LOL!

    • +1

12/2029 EXP is for VISA card online use purpose. It is only valid for 3 years.

  • Is there any risk of JB HIFI Goodguys etc being no longer off the home gift card after you have already purchased? FAQ section seems to say as long as they are on physical card they are valid is that right?

This should provide some insights on how they operate.

      • Thanks had a look at T&Cs and looks like it will be valid for any merchant who appears on the physical card
        THE CARD

The Card can be used for purchases of goods and services, at the merchants whose logos appear on the Card in Australia (which excludes cash and cash equivalent transactions at ATM’s over the counter at Financial Institutions and merchants and merchant groups who elect not to accept prepaid gift cards).

  • After buying a few cards for Students, I found out that some are dated 05/21 while others are dated 06/22. The older ones have fewer stores. Both card numbers start with 457824. Can the older cards also be used at the additional stores that are shown on the newer cards?

    • Yes.

I’ve used an Ultimate Students gift card (produced in 05/21) at Officeworks a couple of months ago with no problems, even though Officeworks was definitely not on the gift card packaging. When I added that Ultimate Students to my mobile wallet, the gift card image on the mobile wallet included the Officeworks logo.

Remember, the source of truth for participating retailers is the Ultimate gift card website, not the gift card packaging. Participating retailers change for at least one Ultimate gift card most weeks; given that physical Ultimate gift cards are manufactured in batches and it takes months before a physical Ultimate gift card is displayed on a gift card shelf ready to be sold to a customer.

      • Some of the labels on the back mention 'instore' and 'online' use available whilst some don't mention anything about online use. Anyone know if all the ultimate gift cards are usable online or just the ones marked 'online' on the back?

        • +2

Any of the Visa versions will work online, even if there is no mention on the packaging about the redemption options (i.e. instore, online, exchange). However, you will need to check the Ultimate gift card website to see whether the participating retailer(s) you are interested in actually accept Ultimate (Visa) gift cards on their online stores.

For example, Nike, New Balance, Puma, adidas and Anaconda only accept Ultimate (Visa) gift cards in-store, even though they all have online stores.

      • I want to buy gift card that can be used at officeworks but none seems to have, so can I know if there is any option?

        • thought the ultimate HOME had office works.. not listed but still 15% off

          • @Bafranz: Checked the ultimate home but can’t see to find officeworks in the list though?

Will it still work with officeworks even though it’s not listed?

            • @mo6842: https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/card/home/

              first on the list? officeworks

bought 5 yesterday, pretty sure officeworks was on the front because I saw it and thought to get a desk tomorrow

              • @Bafranz: Oh okay, but when I went to coles to check in store, they don’t seem to have officeworks on ultimate home. Does that mean they have old card which is not up to date?

                • @mo6842: might have to ask @WookieMonster, he seems to be on point when it comes to gift cards. gl

                • +1

@mo6842: Check the website for the most updated list of participating retailers. Do not rely on the packaging (Other than knowing if it’s the EFTPOS or VISA version). If OW is listed there you’re all good. For what it’s worth my Baby & Mum gift cards (the VISA version) didn’t have TGG on the packaging but I was able to use them at TGG in store today.

  • +3

Can confirm as previously stated by others:

Just used HIM giftcards at JBHIFI even though JB isn't shown on the pack. Went through just fine.

  • Whats the limit on jb hifi gift csrds online?

  • Any stock in Western Sydney?

    • Heaps at my local

      • Which store?

  • Heaps of $50 at bondi junction behind the counter

  • Everywhere I went was out of $100 ones, so I have tons of $50 cards. Reading through the comments, I’m contemplating buying Apple gift cards and storing them on my Apple balance to purchase from the online store, rather than having to redeem 40 cards.

Only officeworks seems to have Apple Gift Card listed online (though it doesn’t say it can be used for anything other than iTunes or App Store, but I presume this is just because they haven’t updated the text?), does anyone have any experience using an Ultimate Gift Card online to buy gift cards for click and collect?

    • Whats the lowest denominator apple card now?

      • $20 I think.

  • Just bought 5x $50 ultimate him gift card from coles. Confirmed it’s the Visa version starting with 457824. Please tell me they can definitely use at Jb hifi, still a bit scare having no logo on the package lol feels like gambling

    • +2
    • +1

I used some of the old packaging without JB on the front, at JB today.

    • Tried using the EFTPOS one at JB today and it couldn't go through.

    • +1

bought 5 X$100 and went to JB and bought $500 worth of Apple gift card.

  • +1

So, can I confirm that the ones with Google Wallet, apple Pay, Samsung Pay logo in the packaging are VISA type ones?
If I load them into Google Wallet, can I merge multiple cards to a single card in Wallet or they will be separate cards in Wallet?

Once loaded to Wallet, do they act like credit card where you can use it for online purchases at participating stored based on the card type (Him, Home, etc) ?

    • +2

Don't add too many as it may trigger security issue with Google.

      • What if we stuck to a limit of 10? Redeem them all. Then remove them from GPay wallet. Rinse and repeat.

As for ApplePay wallet, the max limit is 12 (used to be 8).

        • My iPhone 6s running iOS 15 tells me I cannot add more than 8 cards to Apple Pay.

      • Yeah, can confirm that. My Google wallet wouldn't let me add the 5th card.

    • +4

can I confirm that the ones with Google Wallet, apple Pay, Samsung Pay logo in the packaging are VISA type ones?

      Yes.

If I load them into Google Wallet, can I merge multiple cards to a single card in Wallet or they will be separate cards in Wallet?

They will be separate cards in your wallet.

do they act like credit card where you can use it for online purchases at participating stored based on the card type (Him, Home, etc) ?

Yes, as long as the participating retailer accepts Ultimate gift cards on their online store and they accept Google Wallet as a payment method

  • i bought 1 eftpos version of HIM card, but the terms and conditions at back says refer to ultimategiftcards.com.au

does that mean it can be used at jb hifi?

    • Yes.

    • +1

Didn't work at jb for me

  • Does anybody know if the old version of “Him” gift card can still be use with JB Hifi? I found a couple of them in my local store but it doesn’t have JB Hifi logo at the front of the card, thanks

    • See page 1 of wookiemonster comment

  • +1

Just found someone's 5x Him $100 cards stashed behind the Bunnings cards!
    Win for me!

Also staff said had been smashed by people buying gift cards all day. On the registers they had a catalogue opened to the page with the 15% off gift cards and a big circle around it.

They also had heaps of cards in a big cardboard box at the front counter - So I guess can always ask nicely if they have some - as the normal spot they were all gone.

    • -1

Should hide on top of shelf & multi places

  • To those folks who have been knocked back by JB Hi-Fi staff members for trying to buy Apple GCs or JB Hi-Fi GCs using the physical Ultimate cards, did you have better luck by adding all the cards to your wallet, and simply asking the staff member to split the transaction in $100 increments?

With the physical cards, it is hard to hide the front as you swipe and then read the PIN.
I also don't know whether asking to split the transaction, and thus holding up the queue (even in less busy times) will rouse suspicion. I guess I will find out tomorrow.

    • Why buy apple gcs? Just use normal gcs to buy apple products from jb. They even have 10% off MacBook now and then. The only advantage of apple gcs I can think of is they don’t expire.

      • The only advantage of apple gcs I can think of is they don’t expire.

Precisely for this reason, and also stock availability issues at JB Hi-Fi at the moment.

      • Buy through AOC store with bonus cashback

      • +1

        • Apple cards can be added to Apple Store credit online, making the whole transaction much easier than forcing a sales assistant to enter each card.
        • Apple cards/credit doesn't expire
        • Cashrewards offer additional saving on Apple purchases
        • Qantas offer additional points on Apple purchases
        • Apple will price match JB/Good Guys 10% offers

    • Worked for me last time using Apple wallet + split payment but this was months ago. Maybe they are on high alert now

    • Did you end up trying to buy Apple GCs using the Ultimate card? If so, how did it go? Did it work?

  • Anyone had any luck using multiple cards on JB hifi website? Mine says payment declined
