    Thanks OP
I like the Tegel Take Outs Nashville Style Portions 1kg

    • +21

I just want the chicken burgers….

      • Hear great things about them but as yet haven't tried them.
        Next time on special.

      • +1

Agreed, had them once the first time these were on sale and they were great, never seen them again since.

    • Do they taste kfc style or hot spicy etc i want to try them but dont want spicy .?

      • +2

The spice is really really mild, its more like KFC style with a hint of spice from the breading.

        • It's hotter than KFC H&S, but not crazy hot.

      • +3

Louisiana is normal like KFC while Nashville is a bit like KFC hot and spicy.

        • +1

          Thanks

          • @spock: Having rest of the Louisiana, one tonight bought last time on special.
So good time with the special coming up.

      • +3

        Reaaal salty, spice mild

      • +2

It's a little similar to wicked wings in terms of spice level, though doesn't really taste much like them.

For a cheap, lazy meal a pack of this chicken will do a treat, but the breading tastes quite processed and the chicken itself is very average. I wouldn't say it's much of a substitution for KFC

    • It's it minced up chicken or real pieces?

      • +3

its real chicken, not minced. Top tier frozen chicken imo.

        • cool, i'll give it a go

        • Went in at 8am to pick up a few packets and some dog had already done an order for 20 packets online

          • @Budju: How did you find out?

            • +1

              @MuddyClear: Budju is hackerman.

            • @MuddyClear: I asked one of the employees if they had any out the back and he said yes they have some. He came back with the story that someone had just ordered 20 online this morning, so he was sorry, they have no more. Looks like the hoarding still runs deep in some people from the pandemic days.

          • @Budju: Lucky only 2 left at my WW so grabbed them.

    • Also the Louisiana Style.
Good timing as I'm nearly out.

      • +3

Should have bought more when they had it for $2.5…

        • Yes but I miss them then.

        • +2

Still have a few kg from that lol

    • Their good, pop them in the airfryer for a quick fried chicken fix.

    • +1

I have just had the worst reception experience with Kogan Mobile which uses the Vodafone network
Its no wonder Vodafone are only charging half price….Because you only get half the reception!

      • Where you trying to call up a "Tegel Chick"en :)

  • Thanks, wasn't expecting the Vodafone deal until mid December

  • Dooes vodafone do wifi calling

  • How do i access the new catalogue ? The link just takes me to my rewards app.

  • Can the vodafone deal be used as a recharge?

    • +1

No, but jut port out for whatever the required time is then port back.

  • +4

Tegel portions are mid but the burgers 🤩🔥

    • Burger fillets are excluded again :/

      • +1

It’s still showing oos nationwide, unless the online stock checker isn’t as accurate

  • +3

Bought 3 of the Tegel chicken last deal, they were pretty decent still take about 50minutes in the air fryer but not entirely sure if I will purchase again

    • +4

I found 30 mins at 180 is the best cooking time for me Lit Homie, otherwise they go to hard. However YMMV

      • Hey Alias aha I tried 30 minutes but it didn't seemed to be thoroughly cooked, I placed foil under to keep the moisture intact when cooking at 50minutes it worked well, without foil it went dry as you said though. It is good to be honest but I think I just rather make my own chicken.. idk not discouraging anyone but I guess not for me at this price still (prefer my seasoned chicken).

        • Hi Lit Homie, you might need to get yourself a new air fryer by the sounds of things.

          • @brandogs: Wait why so, have the Phillips air fryer XXL fries things well from previous experiences

        • +1

I agree, they work fine in a pinch for a cheap, lazy meal but I wasn't super impressed by the quality overall. If I was craving chicken I would much rather pick up a roast chook from coles/butcher or get some KFC itself.

      • I do half excluding preheating time at 180. Seems to come out pretty good as well.

Frozen nuggets and fish etc are like 10 minutes tops, so the half is very long by comparison.

    • Bought 2 to try out, but like you, not sure if I will buy again. Not sure what it is, I think I just prefer plain drumsticks in the air fryer.

  • How does everyone eat their Tegel Chicken?

    • +5

I like to heat them up before I eat them.

    • +2

One at a time….finish one before starting the next

    • +2

I think everyone eats them with their mouths.

      • +1

Instructions unclear. Did the bear grylls and butt chugged it.

    • i use a fork and a knife

      • Get the pitchforks and torches out folks, we have a heretic here.

        • Got the bonfire ready. This witch need to burn.

    • LoL 🤦‍♂️

  • +4

The chicken portions (not the burgers) were hyped on a recent "news" article as being the same as KFC. Bought 2 bags - they are nothing like it.

    • +2

I agree that KFC is better, but I believe these are cheaper and bigger than KFC wicked wings. For the price, I still like to keep a couple bags in the fridge for a quick dinner.

    • I agree mate, not even close and I just got through my 3rd pack of fillets from the last half off, I don’t hate them, but they aren’t comparable

    • +1

I thought the "news" article was about the burgers, not the chicken portions??

    • By news article, did you mean ozbargain posts? There were quite a few ppl comparing them to KFC. At 7 bucks for 5-6 pieces, it's hard to complain, especially given the convenience of it.

      • -1

The more time I spend here the more I realize ozbargainers have very low standards for what qualifies as a "good meal" lol. I'm a cheapskate too, don't get me wrong, but a line needs to be drawn somewhere for sustainable nourishment

        • +3

there is a line, and $7/kg is on the right side of it

  • Tried both styles of chicken last time they were on special and was surprised how good they actually were.

  • No KFC near me, so a pack of the spicy ones of there in the air fryer and bobs your uncle. The are pretty damn good!

  • +1

go after their mango and raspberry HD. Best in its class.

    • So, rather than an ice cream for educated people, this is an educated ice cream for the unwashed masses? Finally I think I’ve found what I’ve been told to look for…

    • Ingredients: Fresh cream (31%), condensed skimmed milk, sugar, mango puree (12%), raspberry puree (5%), egg yolk, blackberry puree, concentrated orange juice, concentrated lemon juice, gelling agent (pectin), natural flavours.

Looks to be the real deal. Shame it’s not on the list

  • dammit just paid $8 at coles for haagen daaz

    • +2

      Buy high, eat slow

  • Haagen Dazs 'Brownie Macchiato' needs to come back.. current flavours are boring

  • The portion crumbing are too thick

  • I airfired these and they taste awful. How do you bargainers make this.

  • Is the Vodafone pack eligible for the double data activation?

  • Just in-store to buy some and all the Tegel chicken is sold out

    • Yes I know.
I managed to get the last 2 bags at WW Moorooka today.

      • +1

So it was you!!!! I only got there around 17:15. I haven't even tried it before and wanted to get in on the hype. I will have to come round to your place to try it then

        • No problem :)
