      • The $1999 price point for the Legion 7i is hard to beat though. A similarly specced Legion 7i Gen 7 is likely to be +$1000 even on a deal.

True, but the shitty iCue software is not worth the headache.

  • When is the deal finishing?

Thanks OP, received my Legion 7i today.

    Some initial thoughts,

    • Solid build quality and has a premium feel.
    • The QHD+ display is sharp, very bright and fast with the 165 Hz refresh rate.
    • The RGB lighting looks amazing and very bright, the per key RGB is also nicely done.
    • The keyboard and touchpad takes some getting used to due to the off-center design with the num pad, maybe it's just me. The touch pad rattles a bit when tapping, think that's common (I prefer tap to click instead of pressing down).
    • Backlit ports are a nice touch.
    • Very snappy feeling in general operation and relatively quiet for a gaming laptop.
    • The installed SSD is a Micron Gen 4 drive. Tested - Read speed ~6300 MB/s & Write speed ~4850 MB/s.
    • The RAM on mine is Samsung 3200MHz modules. Unfortunately, they're the slower 1Rx16 type (can easily find some x8 modules though $$$).
    • The included 300W power brick is comically large and weighs 1 kg with cables.
    • Manufactured in July 2022, so a fresh device.
    • Overall, very happy with it!

Received mine as well. I had the same ssd as yours. Don't know the spec of ram but will upgrade to 2*16 GB anyway. My concern is if ssd slot can support 1T or 2T. Asked the customer service and he said 1T for each slot. But when I search youtube, someone upgraded by insert a 2T NVMe PCIe M.2. I am confused.

      • I have 2 x 2TB ssd in mine. Keep in mind, unless something changed the 2nd slot is pcie3 only.

        • Can it have 2T for second slot? Do you put heatsink on it? I know it only support Gen 3.

  • Anyone have any thoughts on the desktop? Looking for a simple desktop setup with a GPU for my grandad for video editing

    • I don't think video editing uses GPU.

      • Oh yes, most of them do these days. Da Vinci for example.

  • Thinking to get that desktop, are there other options out there I should consider? Heavy tasks would be Vray Rendering on Sketch Up, 3D Modelling and Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop). Any input would be helpful, TIA.

  • hows the Legion 5 Pro compare to the recent Kraken deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736134

  • Hope to Legion 7i back in stock soon…
