Disney Plus Yearly Membership: TRY₺649.90 (~A$52) + ₺33.29 (A$2.57) Admin Fees @ Disney Plus via Turkey (No VPN Required)

4320

While the previous deal was marked expired due to the increase of Disney Plus memberships, I thought it would be a great idea to re-share this workaround (since it’s still ~60% cheaper than Aus membership ($139.99)1 :) ) and credit to the original OP and Pricebeat for their methods

For Android users:

  1. Create new Google account on phone
  2. Delete cache in Google Play Store (not sure if needed)
  3. Select new account in Google Play Store
  4. Add payment method and select Turkey as Country.
  5. Uninstall Disney+ if you have it installed.
  6. Open Google Chrome/browser on your phone in an incognito window. Set your window to desktop mode.
  7. Search Disney+ on Google Play store in your browser.
  8. Log in on new account and remote install Disney+ to your phone
  9. Open app on phone and pay in TRY

For iOS users:

  1. Create Turkish Apple ID

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/account
Follow the onscreen steps. In the mobile number section use your Australian mobile number (Very important to use a valid number or risk losing your ID). Choose country as Turkey. Then follow through the rest to create your ID. Login into Apple ID on a browser. Go to this link to enter a Turkish address to your Turkish Apple ID and save.

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone/iPad > Your Name > Media and Purchases > Log out from your current ID and login with your Turkish Apple ID

  2. Go to App Store and download Disney Plus app > A pop up may appear to confirm your details > Choose payment method as “None”

  3. Buy TL iTunes gift cards from TurGame (50TL/TRY x 13 gift cards) > Choose currency as TL/TRY and pay with international transaction fee free card.

  4. Redeem iTunes gift cards(apple.co) by going to App Store > Account (located at right top corner) > Redeem gift cards or code.

  5. Open Disney Plus App > Sign Up

I'm still waiting & hoping it will happen one day ;-(

@WhyMe20: Some credit card statements won't show the refund as a new deduction as of today or yesterday rather, will show the refund again the time of purchase. Try scrolling back when you first made the purchase and you should see the refund next to it.

            Hope this makes sense.

            • @COVID-19: I've used the same Citibank Debit MC before(17Jun22) & again on 07Apr23 .. I don't recall seeing a refund or my balance increased in the mean time .. I keep this card low and use it mainly for overseas purchases (No FX fees)..

I've checked the Google Completed Purchases,

There are two entries on 17Jun22
              1. Purchase details
              2. Refund details

I believe this is a recent stuff up by google not as dated in the refund .. as per the cancelled/refund emails sent on 07Apr23

It can be Citibank taking their own time due to holidays.. I'll wait a little more before talking to google..

Hope this makes sense .. :-)

                @WhyMe20: Update - Refund $27.58 on 11Apr23 appearing now !!

        • It’s finally showing now! I guess Bankwest must be slow.

          Time to resub now! 🤪

Still waiting for refund to hit card. Google says its been refunded and will take 5 days to hit the card.

      • Refund arrived today

    • Same, still waiting. Subscribed in June’22 and received cancellation on Friday.

        Update: Refund is now showing

Had my cancellation and refund come back to my original card (used Bluestacks / Google Play / Amex).

Attempted to resubscribe using a VPN and normal Chrome PC browser and the original card - didn't work.

Reinstalled Bluestacks and resubscribed using the Disney+ app and Google play using the original card for the annual plan - worked as expected.

Let's see how long this lasts!

Ok, so I'm also in the refunded group, but instead of the money going back to my original CC, it went into a bank account that I've never associated with this Google account. I'm glad the money's back, but now I'm also paranoid that Google have secret ways of finding out about my personal details (not that it should really surprise me).

    edit
The CC issuer and the bank account the refund landed in are completely different banks

    • How is that possible, you must have registered it before.

    • Wow .. that's something new .. Consult a solicitor & sue google .. time to become an millionaire or multi millionaire .. Choose wisely :-)

Would spend more than $30-60 doing all that and wouldn't let get anywhere lol

Just had my TRY₺349.90 subscription from June 2022 cancelled… and REFUNDED!
Guess I'll have to jump on the newer TRY₺649.90 pricing plan.
A little bit of a pain, but interesting that it was refunded so far into the plan. 🤷‍♂

*Edit: Can see that I'm not alone!!!

My refund came in this morning for TRY 649 (AU51.21)

Just renewed using the OP's above method (for Android) from Step 5 using existing account.
Worked no problem at all… But only did monthly for now!

5- Uninstall Disney+ if you have it installed.
6- Open Google Chrome/browser on your phone in an incognito window. Set your window to desktop mode.
7- Search Disney+ on Google Play store in your browser.
8- Log in on new account and remote install Disney+ to your phone
9- Open app on phone and pay in TRY

    • Followed the steps you mentioned and it works. Thanks! I used my wise card for payment.

  • I only used this method (android account) a few months ago using my 28Deg Card. Was canceled and refunded the full amount I paid (refund showing up 6/4/23 on my statement)
I grabbed my old phone i had installed the Turkish Disney plus app, opened it and resubscribed with the same card without any issues.

  • Any idea which payment methods work?

    • +2

      Wise, ING, Revolut

      • Thank you. Did not work in the first hour. Worked afterwords.

    • +1

      Wpac Mcard…

      • I tried westpac mastercard and westpac credit card, no luck

  • My account got cancelled too - The account details were not shared outside my home. No reason given for the cancellation!
I guess they are cracking down on this now.

    • I guess they are cracking down on this now.

      You can subscribe again.

      • thanks didnt want to sign up thinking they would cancel it again.
        I'll give it a try.

        • +2

Could try a month first but may as well just go a year

  • Worked a treat after being cancelled…went to watch the Mandalorian with the kids and I was very confused as shouldnt of expired yet.
But got all the money back :P
Pity its a bit more expensive now though

    • Yeah double the price almost,$349 was better

hi everyone i was following the post to create disney account in Türkiye. Could someone explain me how to do it?

    • Mate, you don't even bother mentioning what phone your using. Just read the post again.

    • You said you have followed, so which part didn't work?

    • Just read the post and all the previous ones plenty of info there.

    • +2

I'd say people this clueless end up contacting Disney and ask for help on how to do it.

  • I cancelled the card that i used to pay for mine.

    • Yeah same happened to me, but fortunately my previous bank (Suncorp) sent me a cheque with the refund amount (~$30). Google / Disney+ support couldn't help me when I contacted them about it.

  • Subbed again after getting cancelled, so far so good.

  • Worked like a charm [Android].
I guess we will see if my payment gets cancelled or not.
The only comment I have on the instructions is perhaps to modify step 9 to read:

    1. Open app, sign in with existing Disney+ login [No need to create new account with burner gmail account] and pay in TRY.

Just a small modification but if it is not spelled out it is tempting to think you need to create a new account on Disney+ with your freshly created google account.

  • I've just resubscribed after having my Australian subscription lapse. Went for the year vs monthly :D
Paid with Westpac Mastercard added to my secondary Google account. It wasn't a difficult process at all.
    Thanks OP!

  • Anyone subscribed to monthly, is it OK to just upgrade to yearly? Or I need to cancel the current monthly and do the yearly again?

    • Resubcribed to the monthly account last month, trying to switch to the yearly at the moment and google says

      "error
your transaction cant be completed. to continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us."

Guess i'm stuck on the monthly

      • In that case may have to cancel it and do it again yearly.

      • Did you figure out how to pay for it? I have the same message..

  • Is this method still working? I see multiple people talking about account cancelation and refunds, but the deal hasn't been marked as expired

    • +2

iOS method should still work. No reports of cancellation and refunds from it.

    • +1

I did this yesterday with iOS, no issue with subscription.

  • Honestly I can’t believe they went from $89.99 to $119.99 and now $149.99… it’s insane I’ve tried all these methods but the auto system they have still says my card is from “a different country” so I can’t do the Turkey method. Anyone have a cheaper method an Australian card? I even wasted money on a Turkish gift card thinking it would work but it didn’t …

    • I've tried the turkey method twice (android) couldn't get it to work.
      Had to renew in AUD…

      • Tried a fresh Google account using Bluestacks android emulator on a PC? Worked for me recently with an AU credit card.

        • Didn't try that one….
Followed the steps to the letter, play store wouldn't let me change country.

Tried it twice (two different/fresh accounts), same thing each time. Attempt one I set my payment method, and the store had already set my location to Australia (which I couldn't change).
Attempt two, tried changing location first, wouldn't let me.

          • @Mavstrong: Yeah I’m pretty tech savvy and tried everything but nothing seemed to work - it always said my card is from a different country and wouldn’t go through. Though Amazon prime works and I get it at 60c a month, and Netflix at $7 for the highest tier (compared to $20) but Disney doesn’t budge … I dunno what I’m doing wrong

            • @Arkayne: How do you get Prime for that price?

              • @gadgetguy: From memory, I think it's via Turkey.

You don't get Prime delivery, unless you live in Turkey.

I think there is a post about it somewhere on OzB.

              • @gadgetguy: As the reply below you, yes it’s through using a VPN and changing your account to turkey… just use a random hotel address in turkey and you will get prime for 8 Turkish Lira, which at the moment is 68 cents … I just wish Disney plus worked this way but they check where your credit card comes from, that’s why I don’t know how to do it on Disney+ and the methods mentioned here don’t seem to work for me unless I create a new account.

However for Netflix, you can, as I stated before, buy Netflix Turkish Lira gift cards and use them so that other then paying $20 for the highest tier, you only pay $7. Other than that I haven’t really meddled in any other streaming services.

  • Successfully subscribed using Android. Don't be put off by the AU$ prices shown on the Disney login/signup screen. When I actually went to subscribe, it was in Try.

I did delete the original AU payment profile to ensure it was set to TRY.

    • How did you get through the payment section? I would always get this message when trying to sub - "error, your transaction cant be completed. to continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us."

      • I didn't have an issue… I'd previously gotten that message though.

        • Your card is added to your new Google Profile as a payment method - use your Turkish address. Also confirm your account is indeed Turkey on your profile page. Aside from that what bank are you using?
        • I'm using an ANZ VISA debit card, and just checked that my Google account is set to turkey with an address. I've even tried using a VPN before I pay, nothing works :(

    • which bank did you use?

  • I'm interested to do this. I'm an apple user, but my phone doesn't cast onto the tv. Before I try, can anyone let me know if:
    1. The iOS method still worked for them recently?
    2. How would I log into my TV disney plus?
    3. Can I use an old AU disney plus sub email address?

Hope someone can help cause I'm very keen to get disney plus back!

      1. Yes, both methods still work.
      2. Using the credentials you used to purchase Disney+
      3. Theoretically yes, but I would suggest a new account.

Is there anything else I can help with?

      • Thanks for that!

So just the same email/login process on TV?

To clarify, you recommend a brand new turkish apple id + new email address for this?

I'm reading a lot of refunds for the Android method, is it still an issue?

        • You definitely need a new Turkish Apple ID for this.
Can’t see no one having refunds via apple

  • Tried westpac cards and bankwest, still get the error "error, your transaction cant be completed. to continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us"

  • +1

Just tried the Android method and it worked! Thanks OP. Hopefully no refunds. Fingers crossed.

    • what bank card did you use?

      • +1

        Virgin Money Credit Card

Thanks OP just worked on ios

  • Got canceled and refunded.
Just resubscribed using same account login using PC on BlueStack android emulator app.

    Paid TRY₺649.90 / $50.16 AUD via 28dgerees card

  • Got the 'transaction cant be completed' using bluestacks and 28 degrees card. Got a Wise card and transferred money to it. Fresh google account and bluestacks instance, Same error.

  • Super easy process with iOS. Wise card was the cheapest at 42$AUD inclusive of partner fees. 98$AUD saving over a year. Was glad to see they added 500TL and 150TL gift cards saved me a lot of time vs 13 GC :) Many Thanks!
