  • Beat me to it. Thanks for posting.

These gift cards now work at every restaurant, cafe and fast food establishment! Great way to beat inflation/increase in prices, especially over the Christmas period!

  • Would these work at the melbas restaurant in the buffet?

  • Does this work for Movie World or Dream World for their tickets?

    • Doesn’t work online for Village, but have not tried in park.

“ This purchase has been declined by your bank or credit card company. Please contact your bank or credit card company directly.”

  • cool, I've been using the TCN restaurant gift cards when they're 15% off, is this basically the same?

  • They have been 20% off before, hopefully soon again!

    • +2

yes, I got some of them last month, and paid for a big lunch for 6 yesterday with them. Don't hold your breath on the 20% off though. They did that for all the cyber monday, black friday and click frenzy deals last month, doesn't seem like a normal thing from what I can see. Might be better off getting something now…bird in the hand.

      • +3

Yeah I think I will grab some right now at a lower denomination. Let's see if the gamble pays off on Boxing Day!

      • Definitely.

The way I see it, you’re getting most of the previous discount, and then you’re only missing out on $5 per $100.

So if you do a big $300 dinner, for example, you miss out on an extra $15 of savings. Not the end of the world.

Good thinking RE a bird in the hand 👍

    • +1

Missed out on BF 20% sale so picked up a $50 one.

  • +1

How do you use this when you dont have a physical card? They just scan a printout or code?

    • +1

You can add them to Google or Apple Pay.

      • Theoretically you can. I keep getting an error when trying to add it to my google wallet. Called customer service and they're having issues logging in to their system. Said they'll call me back in 30 minutes - let's see how this plays out.

        • +2

Need to contact Google Pay support and they'll sort it out within 48 hours. I had issues adding these to Google Pay just like I had with Bano but they sorted it. Alternatively you can add them to Samsung Pay. No issues there.

          • @neil: Thanks for the advice. Just to confirm, you added it as a debit/credit card and not as a gift card?

          • @neil: I can't add it to Google pay too. I tried the chat support and they said that it will be handled by a specialist, which may take up to 24-48 hours.

            • @leiiv: I had the same issue, spoke with google pay support on the phone, gave them the error code. a few hours later i got an email saying try again in 48 hours, the issue is fixed. It has only been about 30 hours and i've just tried again and all my cards can now be added to google wallet.

              • @SgtBatten: Yes, I've got an email telling me to try again, and it worked after that. By the way, my error code is OR-TAPSH-08. Hope it helps someone with the same issue.

  • Guessing you can stack this with a Fork discount/Yums booking?

    • yes, as it is a just a method of payment. Add to google wallet or apple pay, select the card and tap

  • Picked up a $300 voucher. Probably won't go far given the cost of food these days.

  • Fantastic…just got a 300$ visa gift card for 255$
    Can we buy multiple times?

    • yeah, you can buy multiples at once

  • So I'd assume this means it works at the common restaurants such as Maccas & KFC?

    • +1

      yeah

  • +2

does anyone have a list of good places to use leftover amounts?

I've found Grill'd lets me use multiple split payments to get rid of small balances on various gc

    • Maccas kiosk is my go to place when trying to use my remaining balance on TCN cards

      • You can do split payment at maccas?

        • +1

No split payment, but just order enough to cover the balance of the card
80c soft serve is the last resort

          • @OzBestDeal: Can we do split payment on the manned counter?

            • +1

@io: Apparently you can according to some comments in Ozb… but I don't feel comfortable splitting them for just few cents

            • +1

@io: Card+cash only, and cash has to be paid first now.

          • @OzBestDeal: yeah, I'm talking about using up small balances, i've had no issue at Grill'd and Sushihub with odd values like $0.## cents

            • @impoze: You can split payment with two cards in guzmany Gomez, not sure if you can split in between 3 cards tho! I go there every weekends so I know!

    • +2

Nandos is a good place for me to split payments

      • The branch I went to last month said they couldn't do split payment!

        • I guess that is up to the discretion of the manager/franchisee at your local store

    • I remember this problem. Say you have a family, and $42 left on a card. It's not enough for a restaurant meal. Then you're forced to do maccas etc until that goes to 0.
We don't eat out much, nor do we do fast food much, so I wonder if this is a waste of time.

  • Can this be used for checkout on orders made on fast food apps (Maccas, KFC etc) that allow Apple Pay as a payment option?

    • +1

KFC is a no, just checked

      • TCN restaurant card works with KFC. I've used it before…
So this card is more limiting than TCN

        • +1

the limitation is that once it is in the wallet you can't use it in the app as a payment for KFC…haven't tried it in store yet, but it worked at Maccas in store. Wish KFC would allow payment in store as an option in the app orders like they used to. They stopped it during COVID and never put it back as an option…in that case, yes, you would be able to use it

          • @souths123: So you don't have option to reveal the card number / expiry details like in TCN?

          • +6

@souths123: You don't need to use Apple/Google Pay in App. Just pay by credit card in the food app and copy paste the card number, expiry and cvc in.

I've used them on Menulog, Hungry Jack's, McDonald's etc.

            • @hamza23: ok, thanks

              • @souths123: Yeah you can use google pay and select it in other apps like maccas app

            • @hamza23: Good to know works on Menulog! I've just used up Ultimate Eats card (with small balances left, annoyingly) so these will be perfect with the few deals posted till end of month 😁

            • @hamza23: Not doordash?

              • @syswong: I haven't tried on Doordash personally, likely it would work but I can't guarantee it.

          • @souths123: If using it for kfc, how do you check the remaining value of the GC?

            • +1

@Fobsessive: I have it stored in the myprepaidcentre as well so I can log on and check the balance…you can also click activity and details in the wallet to see all transactions and deduct that from the total of the original balance? (in google wallet anyway)

              • @souths123: Just tried myprepaidcentre with ultimates. You need to captcha & email code every single click you do. Did you get this? It's so painful I wonder if 15% is worth it.

                • @furyou: I find it to be worth it. Once added to your wallet or apple pay, it is then just easy to tap it for payment. You can add the card info for online/app payments apparently if you need to. You just click the link from TRC and it opens to register the card. I already have a myprepaidcentre account, so add it to that, get the card details and then manually add it to my google wallet.

                  • @souths123: I'm in the myprepaidcentre but I can't add to my Google wallet. So I got the details manually and went to Google pay and try to fill everything in. It said my bank refused to allow the card to be added. Obviously I had the same address and everything so I'm not sure what's going on. This is one of the ultimate card so I'm not sure if there's a difference.

                    • @furyou: not sure, we are talking about the restaurant choice. Does the Ultimate have a CVV number? If not then you'll have to add it as a gift card, these ones are added as Payment Card

                      • @souths123: Yeah it becomes a visa and goes to the same portal. Had to enter the cvv and expiry. I assume the set up would be the same and the only difference is where the cards are valid.

Since I can't use the ultimate cards I'm very hesitant to buy the restaurant card.

                        • @furyou: they are easy to use. Once loaded, just open your "wallet" etc and select that card and tap. I just used it today at Dominos, have used at Maccas, a couple of restuarants in the city and one near where I live. Up to you if you want to purchase or not.

          • @souths123: It works on KFC app now as payment

      • It works for KFC just used it now

        • Has to enter card details directly and not via google pay, correct? I wanted to order earlier but didn't work through google pay. Didn't end up ordering in the end, will try again tomorrow.

    • +1

Can confirm it worked without issue with the Hungry Jacks app via Apple Pay.

  • +2

Nearly bought one of these last week, but the reviews put me off. Many people claim lots of the restaurants list do not actually accept the card at all.

    • +6

That's the physical ones. The digital is like paying with any other card as they don't even know you are using it.

      • Awesome. Thanks for clarifying!

      • +1

Ok but there must be a limited venues that these cards can be use right?

        • +3

The venue accepting these cards depends on how they set up their payment terminals with their provider.

This card is accepted at the following venue codes:

          Caterers (5811);
          Eating Places and Restaurants (5812);
          Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Drinking Places (Non-Alcoholic Beverages), Bars, Taverns, Cocktail Lounges, Nightclubs and Discoteques (5813);
          Fast Food Restaurants (5814);
          Hotels, Motels & Resorts (7011);
Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals and Fortune Tellers (7996); and
Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs and Private Gold Courses (7997).

          • @reivaxX: Do they have separate merchant terminals for hotel vs hotel restaurant with differing venue codes? I'm assuming because the hotel restaurants are a separate business they would have different merchant terminals

          • @reivaxX: I would be very interested to know if I can pay for my Hotel accommodation with this card.

            • +2

@danielh: Pay for the incidentals deposit and ask to be refunded onto a debit card:)

        • +1

@D3m3ntia / @danielh I wouldn't know sorry. But regardless, wouldn't the hotel be covered under code 7011, and the hotel restaurant be covered under code 5812 assuming they have separate terminals?

Useless borderline garbage. Very little choice in CBD or popular suburbs like Parramatta, Chatswood….ect and so little choice for Asian food. Put the two together and choice is almost nonexistence!!

    • +3

Again, that's the physical ones not the digital ones that work at all venues.

  • Can this be used at hungry jacks?

    • +1

      Yes

  • I bought two without any issues

  • Is there a catch? 15% any restaurant should be a very good deal considering you can just tap and pay with Google/Apple Pay. Valid for 3 years and I assume everyone eat out

    • The only catch is they must accept VISA, and contactless payment I guess?

      • Like 1%? It is not Amex.

  • thank you, bought a card and added to Google Wallet without any issues

    • +1

I'm trying to add the eGift Card to Google Wallet - it's not accepting it as a Payment Card (Card type not accepted), and there are no matching Gift card vendors. Any ideas?

      • +2

Just add it like credit card with the card no. exp and cvv.

  • Thanks for posting. Just got a $300 one added to apple wallet and used in a cafe with no issue.

  • +2

Just used at a small Chinese restaurant 👌🏼

  • Any luck with using these on liven, to buy the food dollars?

    • Haven't tried it but I looked up the name that it what was charging under last time e.g. Liven*Restaurant name, and it shows up under the Internet category on Merchant Lookup.

    • +1

Yep can confirm works at least from Apple Pay with these cards.
