It could be the same warranty period but you would have to contact the website for it which wouldn't have the ease of access for the buyer. I also agree with you on the failsafe part. However, $149 doesn't seem like once in a lifetime opportunity.

At this price it doesn’t matter. You only lose the second year of warranty and I doubt you would need it.
Personally I would consider saving a bit longer for APP2s. They are that good.

How are these different from Australian versions.. are they made in a different factory or production line? Or are they identical
Difference in coverage. When I worked at Apple we would cover these up to two years under consumer law coverage. Sometimes longer if the customer kicked off about it lol.
However if it’s an import it just gets apples one year warranty and nothing extra.
Mine have held up great over the past 3 years using them, sound quality is acceptable as is the battery life (only really had them die on me once).
Does anyone know if there’s been talk of Apple discontinuing this particular AirPod shape? The larger Gen 3 ear pieces don’t fit my gf’s ears and I’m thinking of buying more of these Gen 2’s for when the batteries degrade, assuming they’ll be unavailable in the future
Same, I prefer the gen 2 over gen 3 because of the design.
looking at the development, they are stopping the design. Buf who knows, Apple might feel like it and come back to this design
