10% Cashback When You Spend at Special Gift Cards (Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths and More) @ Westpac Extras

241

I received a Westpac Extras email with their latest offers. The first offer is "Get 10% cashback when you spend at Special Gift Cards." From what I can see, there is no list of approved cards, so you can buy any gift card on their site. Notable mentions are JB HI-FI, Woolworths, Amazon.

Offer Conditions as per email

Important offer conditions: Spend $1 or more in a single transaction on your Westpac Credit Card by either the primary or secondary cardholder. Limited to 1 cashback transaction(s). Cashback is limited to 1 card per customer, per retailer and will be paid into your account within approximately 7 days. Offer is valid for online purchases only. Offer limited to the value of $20 cashback. Offer eligible for online payments only. Offer cannot be used in conjunction with another offer.

TLDR: Must use a Westpac Credit Card in a single transaction. Limited to $20 cashback. Once time use.

Westpac credit card not debit MasterCard?

  • Targeted and only available to those with Westpac credit cards. They've axed the in-app offers section for debit cards.

    Super shopper card includes Amazon.

    • Thanks, chucked it in the post.

  • Is a purchase of gift cards like this processed as a purchase or a cash advance? A purchase would be okay but if it's a cash advance, I'd rather see my friendly local loan shark.

It should be a purchase. Gift cards aren't cash

    • You can't trade the cards for cash at stores so it isnt treated as cash. Its like any other gift card out there. I dont think your loan shark would accept a gift card as payment.

      • I appreciate the replies, I was concerned Westpac may argue it's a cash equivalent transaction or whatever the card T&Cs say.

  • Super dodgy business. Beware.

    • Please elaborate. I have just purchased a $250 woolies GC, and it requires me to create an account and download an app to be able to use the GC in store - not happy with the latter.

      • I can't work out how to load it into the rewards app either

        • Yeah, bit of a pain in the ass.

Need to download the app and sign into your account. Once signed in, you should be able to see the gift card there. Then link it to Google or Apple pay.

  • Is this for everyone with a Westpac Credit Card? I have one but I can't see the deal on my offers nor on my email this morning.

    • +1

Nope. These deals are targeted to some Westpac credit card customers.

I cannot see this deal on my Westpac credit card, but I can see a Myer cashback offer instead (spend $150, get $15 back).

    • I can't see these in my Online Banking on the PC, however it appears on my phone banking app. I also use a Black Altitude card, not sure if that matters..

    Thanks OP

Used it on ShopBack to buy an Amazon gift card. $24 cashback in total.

    • Can you use the Westpac Extras offer on Shopback? I thought cards have to be bought through special.com.au.

    • Limited to $20 cashback?How come you have $24?

      • $4 is from shopback

  • I can see the offer for this an hour ago in Westpac app but now it is disappeared.

  • My CBA card has a similar cash back. ($15 if you spend $100). However, five days after purchasing a gift card, I've yet to receive it in my email. CC payment has since been processed. Rather pathetic if you're wanting to make a last minute purchase as an xmas gift.

  • I bought $200 super shopper card but haven't seen any cash back from westpac yet.

    • From op - "will be paid into your account within approximately 7 days."

  • Has anyone received their cashback yet?

    • I've just checked and I haven't. I'll give it a few more days as T&C's say "approximately 7 days" before contacting them myself.

I made the transaction on 19th, so its way more than 7 days. Maybe I will wait till tomorrow if it is 7 business days.

        • Any luck now? Considering this offer but don't want to chase up afterwards

@silenthillrocks: I had to follow up and now they have agreed to credit the cashback within next 7 business days …bad process

I received my cashback either yesterday or today. Mine credit was dated 19/12 which was the date of purchase.

    • Thanks, I used this information to check my cashback and it has automatically credited.
