Old mate really does not care and is not triggered 😆

          • @s1Lence: Why shit on someone for liking something? How does it affect you?

            • +2

@kapone: i'm not shitting on someone for liking something, i'm finding it flabbergasting that someone can watch a movie 10+ times in 8 months
as an adult, i havent even watched my favourite films half as many times, so im just shocked someone can do that and not go crazy
it's like with everything, even my favourite food gets boring if i eat it too often, if i listen to the same song too much i'll get sick of it, not that hard a concept to grasp imo

            • @kapone: Just a triggered snowflake that cares way too much about what other people do and like lol..

    • 6 times, streaming, different TVs, projector, bought it on blu-ray, bought it on DVD for other people.

      I get it.

    • +1

Just imagine you saw a good movie. I'm unsure how anyone can see a movie more than twice.

    • If you like this that much, I recommend Swiss Army Man by the same guys. It's just as funny, weird and wonderful. Actually it's a lot weirder!

  • +6

I feel like this movie would've been epic if they cut back on the stupidity, it was just too much, and the movie was about 30-45mins longer than it should've been.

I can respect those who loved it though, I really did enjoy the first hour, but felt they just went overboard with stuff to the point where it got annoying.

    • +1

I agree, gone are the good well thought out movies with skilled actors

  • -4

Boring show, only first 15-20mins were good

  • Didn't really like some weird jokes when things get super serious but least I really loved the CEO scene.

  • I sort've enjoyed it but as with any movie these days only made it half way through in the first sitting. I haven't gone back to it so I guess it didn't quite grab me even though hotdog fingers was hilarious!

  • +3

That James Hong is like in every American movie featuring Chinese since the beginning of films!

  • +3

Excellent film, may require a rewatch if you dont understand the message

    • If you are on ozbargain you didn't get the mesage

      • +1

        nothing.. matters..

  • +5

One of the best movies I've seen in the past five years.

  • +5

Heaps of messages. Particularly relate to it given my Asian heritage. Superb

  • +5

I looked forward to watching this after reading multiple positive reviews, but was disappointed. It was messy and over-acted.

    • Likewise and I have always enjoyed offbeat, querky, different movies being a movie buff. This however wasn't for me and didn’t at all enjoy it. No idea why you got a neg as you only voiced your opinion. Have a + back from me as we are all entitled to an opinion without being negged for it…..but hey it is Ozb and plenty of neggers to be had :-)

      • +1

Thanks. Yeah, a neg or three seems to go with the territory if you're not part of the general consensus.

      • Frank told us why he didn’t like it; and is no longer negged.

    • I think the key with this movie is to go in without reading any reviews or synopsis, and then get blown away! 😂

    • +2

Over-acted yes, but the acting was deliberately to match the tone of the movie. The whole thing is supposed to feel like some crazy fever dream.

  • +2

    Short Round : Indy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I'm glad someone other then me noticed this. Such a distinct voice.

  • +2

Everything Everywhere All at Once => Ozbargainer at a free all-you-can-eat buffet

  • +23

As a first generation Australian from Asian immigrant parents, who grew up watching 80s movies like the Goonies (and the Indy series) and the old Hong Kong martial arts flicks, as well as enjoying slight absurdist humour, I loved this movie. They got the nuances of immigrant Asian culture right (at least in my experience).

I'm all for Ke Huy Quan making a comeback in front of the camera (he should've played the main role in The Foreigner rather than Jackie Chan), and Michelle's culmination of years in the industry pays off in having a grounded character amongst the craziness.

If you liked it as well, then great. If you didn't like it, then that's great too. Maybe there is a multiversal you that liked it. And a multiversal me than hated it.

    ;)

    • Are there Indiana Jones defences in the movie

  • +1

I regrettably watched Buzz Lightyear over this at the cinema. Such a big mistake!

  • +3

I morbed all over myself after watching this

  • +1

everyone who hated this movie….let me poop in my hand

  • jamie lee curtis mwa haha ha!

  • +2

Waiting for Racacoonie to be released on streaming now

  • I will watch now to see if this movie is as good as this post being upvoted!
I am going in with high hopes!

edit 1: Hey it"s Wayne Campbells father in law!!!

  • +2

I almost watched this over Top Gun in the cinemas. What a mess of a movie, not to my taste.

    • +3

If you love Top Gun, then yeah, this wouldn't be your taste.

      • +2

        But but… I liked both?

        • +1

I did too actually :) Two different types of entertaining though — one where I want to be surprised, another where I just want to enjoy mindlessly

  • +5

Probably the most boring movie I have seen, watched this for 40 mins just can not get into it at all…………………….

    • +2

I agree. Had such high hopes, but this movie is a mess. Is it a comedy (a bad one), or some sort of sci fi Jackie Chan kung fu (no if your wondering, even worse than the comedy). I changed my plan from watching ground hog day to this. What a mistake. Personal opinion of course.

      • best christmas movie ever is jagten (yes i consider it a christmas movie because part of it takes place during christmas xd)
do yourself a favour and watch that instead, it shits all over this (and most movies to be fair)

    • +1

Each to their own I guess. 'Boring' is the last thing I would call this! My movie of the year.

    • I haven't seen Everything everywhere yet. But I guess you haven't seen one of China's blockbuster films Shaolin soccer?
It's full of over the topness and filled with special effects. Must say it was entertaining though back when I watched it.

Anyway I am thinking Everything everywhere is kind of the same vibe as Shaolin soccer.

      • Everything everywhere isn’t a Chinese made movie though

        • Yeah true it's an english movie and by a different director than Shaolin soccer.
I just expect the same kind of vibe though. I could be wrong I haven't watched it yet (rented it but havent watched it).

      • +1

I've watched both. I don't understand why Everything everywhere is highly-rated, I think it's poorly acted and too many cliché. Shaolin Soccer on the other hand, is a way better movie especially it's directed and acted by Stephen Chow himself. If you can understand cantonese (the original audio), the jokes will be another level.

  • -1

This had potential… but it just turned into a movie about a girl with daddy and mummy issues….

  • One of the weirdest movies Ive watched, if your into this kinda of movie you will enjoy it but can understand why ppl might not like it either. There was a deep meaning to me as well but it could be convoluted to others, felt thay way too at times. The humor was at times cringy too. Visuals were nice with the dress ups/ makeup, cgi, was entertaining at times too. Had lbgt vibes to it as well. Crude movie hihi

  • Great movie, but I can see why some don’t like it. It’s borderline propaganda in several themes and very underhandedly so. It has every right to be, but it hurts audience reach and response.

  • Alpha Raymond: Your clothes never wear as well the next day And your hair never falls in quite the same way —- also in the song Nine days lol. in cannes they would do an ovation on this.
I get good movie suggestion from you guys. This is nice as an open minded I like the message of the movie - you are the worst version of yourself on Earth. Some movies are just meant to be tasted and enjoyed, you do not have to digest all movies. This is a fun one.

  • +4

I seriously couldn't get through this movie, yet people rave about it….. What am I missing?

    • +1

      Popcorn?

    • +1

      A heart?

    • You're not a kidult with bad taste.

      • only a "kidult" goes around bashing people because their different taste to the masses makes them feel like a special snowflake 😆

  • +1

    Bloody good film!

  • +1

    Fantastic movie!! 10/10

  • +2

I regret not crying like a bitch in the movie theatre when I first watched it, could’ve been a moment of catharsis I’ll never get back lmao

  • Dammit, I just bought it on Blu-ray for $15 not too long ago xD

    • I bought it on release at full price. Who knows when it will disappear from streaming, but you'll always have the disc and not need internet to watch it.

      • +1

        That is true.

    • +1

I rented it for $2.99 on Prime video.
Which sounds silly now that this deal is up, but my Prime sub ran out a few days ago so it worked out in the end.
$2.99 is still cheaper than paying $6.99 for another month of Prime plus I still have a week to watch it.

  • Data from goonies

  • If you view this purely as a unique comedy from the start, then interesting movie.

If you start by expecting there's some real deep story or philosophical message in all of that then you'll be disappointed.

  • +1

This movie was really quite overrated.

  • There were quality multiversal gags that reminded me of Rick and Morty

  • Watched this quirky movie last night. Michelle Yeoh was brilliant. I enjoyed the movie and it's not mainstream. My favourite scene is of the rocks. I watched with 3 other people who didn't stay till the end. One fell asleep.

  • +2

Didn't find it particularly interesting or insightful, rather it was contrived, cringey (Asian immigrant tropes) and a struggle to get through. The multiverse concept has been covered many times previously.

However thanks for alerting us to this deal :)
