  • Anyone have this? Recommended?
    I have a Elantra 2015 SE

  • Considering for my 2007 b200 shitbox… anyone recommend this?

  • I have this model, it's the first time I've used android auto and it's been working well. The only issue I have is that the screen is a little small at times. For instance while using maps and bringing up the keyboard to type in an address, I'm unable to see the auto-finish results as the keyboard takes up most of the screen. That's really the only issue and it's a pretty small one imo, and I'd think most of the other units would have the same screen size anyway.

Apart from that, I've really enjoyed the upgrade to android auto. I was even able to install SmartThings and connect my meross smart garage opener to it. Which has made opening the garage on arrival pretty convenient

    • I believe I paid a little over $400 so this is a pretty good deal

    • I played around with this model in a sca store and found it really unresponsive and laggy. Did you have the same experience?

      • While this is the only android auto headunit I've ever used, I didn't find it to be laggy or unresponsive. Of course it's not as snappy as my smart phone but it is a capacitive screen and for the amount I use it, it's been perfectly fine and a huge upgrade

I do wish the screen itself was a slightly better quality. But for this price it was worth it imo

        • Bizarrely the description in the link mentions a resistive touch screen

          • @Raynes: Yeah weird! The pioneer website states capacitive and I believe capacitive is superior to resistive

bringing up the keyboard to type in an address,

Just tap the microphone in the bottom right and tell google where you want to go.

Anyone know how much this cost to get professionally installed

    • +5

      Into a 2004 Commodore - about $120 + parts
      Into a 2021 manual Mustang - about $2550 + new dashboard

      • Lol brutal

    • Where you live and what car you got?

Could prob doo it yourself with a Arepro waring harness for you car. (Near) plug an play.
Or perhaps the Leb Op could break out tools and help you out!
      hahha

  • This or the Kenwood DMX5020s for the same price?

    https://www.bankstownsound.com.au/product/kenwood-dmx5020s/

    • Pioneer over Kenwood every single day of the week, month and year!

Bullcrap, they are pretty much the same, it's all down to model specific. And they probably all share the same boards and parts across all components too, more so than Apple, LG and Samsung sharing the same panel of sort. With car manufacturers all going into proprietary entertainment unit and the market reaching saturation point (thanks to the Korean making all specs available to base model) there is not much room to squeeze.

        • Build wise - sure.
After sales service (if needed)…. wrong… Pioneer! simple! Thats my thoughts.

          • @mickyb80: It's just down to the customer rep lady they employed and if she's in the good mood when she read your email. There isn't much left of a cake to fight for.

            • @lgacb08: What about the customer service guy, person, or non binary?

  • How do these units go with keeping the original functions of the factory unit such as fuel calculations, tyre pressure monitoring, etc in a VW Golf that was pre-CarPlay era?

    • You'd get steering wheel audio controls to work easily enough, other vehicle features not related to audio - not so much.

    • See if there is a hit like this for your car. Might even be the same one for the Golf.
      Aerpro FP9888K Complete Install Kit Volkswagen × 1 $172.49

I wont be installing the steering wheel control as the Caddy doesn't have it, but it includes the surround for the dash and a few other bits I want. Couldnt be bothered f@r4ing around with all the individual part numbers… 2am web purchase - just aint gonna support that!

  • Installed yesterday in my 2016 Nissan Pulsar SSS, the factory sat nav is useless and the map is outdated, also volume buttom is not working. This Pioneer unit works ok, the screeen is a bit small, a bit laggy to use and the volume up and down buttons are hard to locate when driving if you don't want to hook up the steering control. Paid $375 from ebay during black friday sale, comes with a free 360 dash cam too. But for this price is still a good deal

    • did u get 360 degree dashcam via ebay or it comes with this deal too?

      • +1

It came from a different seller (ryda online) via ebay

This model does not come with a satnav mate!

The satnav is from your mobile.

This is just a droid/carplay unit, so picks the information/app up from your phone etc. If the map is wrong, its cos your phone app is wrong.

Google Maps, Waze etc. That is from your phone, not the headunit…

      • +4

He's describing the factory system in his car, not the Pioneer.

        • Right you are, and i am not..
Quick - screen shot it! lol…
          @juniormin - my bad for misreading…

  • Ebay has these sellers reduce theirs today to 387 minus $15-$20 snsdec1 and snsmd2
    if that is more convenient

  • Looking to install this in an 05 corolla which has no steering wheel controls. How do you know which wiring harness to use?

  • Is it worth sticking it in in a Toyota Camry from the 2000s?

    • Do you need the features?
