Coolcabana 5 (Large Beach Shade) $199 Shipped (Was $249) @ CoolCabanas

220

Boxing Day sale. A further $10 less than the popular Father’s Day deal
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/721824

Not all colours available but the popular blue/white stripe is included.

I was at the beach today and there were a lot of these performing well. Decided to take the plunge and order one.

The CoolCabana 5 reimagines what a beach shade can be. No need to worry about your umbrella flying down the beach, not having enough shade, or overheating in an enclosed shelter.

UPF 50+ protection
5.8㎡ of shade (Large)
Folds down to 97cm (Medium) and 105cm (Large)
Sand pockets provide 16kgs to keep you on the beach
How does this compare to a large beach umbrella?

A large CoolCabana provides more than double the shade. A large beach umbrella is typically 2m in diameter, which provides 3.1m2 of shade, close to half of the 5.8m2 of shade from a large CoolCabana.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2022

How did I not see that deal!!!!

    • -1

      This thing hardly worth $50…

      • +4

As someone that has already used it, yes it absolutely is worth the $50

But I certainly would not pay $250

      • -1

$50 yes it does, for $200 you better get a proper gazebo that serves more purposes.

        • Nothing beats the CoolCabana on a beach.

          I’ve also got a 3m gazebo, a 6m gazebo and a Coleman Event14.

They each have a purpose. Couldn’t imagine lugging the gazebo to the beach (when not camping).

          • @AaronR: If you don't mind, can you expand a bit on how do you use each of them? Thinking on which one to get :)

            • @nomekop: CC: Only used at beach so far and it’s stellar. Got the grass kit and plan on using it for shorter trips to the park with the family.

3m OzTrail: Camping mostly (beach, bush and park) but also use at home for a bit of extra cover against sun/rain for BBQs etc. Also use at local park events (birthdays etc)

6m OzTrail: Same as above… just bigger so good with bigger groups.

I also have walls and a gutter system for the gazebos to have different configurations which is handy for rainy days with groups.

Coleman Event: Don’t use this anymore. Was bought to use as a combo with the 3m for larger events. Never really liked it. Not fun to setup or pack up. Weird shape. Will be selling it.

If I absolutely had to pick a single one, it would be the 3m gazebo. Can’t go back to a life without all 3 though.

Back to the topic of the CC though… had tried umbrellas and dome style sun shelters for beach. They’re not great. Wish I bought a CoolCabana years ago.

              • @AaronR: Thank you! This have been really insightful :)
Any brand you would recommend for the 3m gazebo? I had a look but there seem to be many options, and does the walls and gutter are also compatible or custom made?

                Thank you!!

                • +1

@nomekop: The OzTrail Deluxe Hydroflow has little anti ponding arms which are handy. OzTrail also make walls, gutter systems and all sorts of accessories built for them. I’ve had a few over the years (and had friends with even more) and wouldn’t buy any else.

Just remember that they much bigger and heavier packed up than the CoolCabana so be sure you’ve got room in/on the car to move it around.

Avoid the Kings gazebos. They’re useless and spend more time in camping bins than actually standing up.

      • Way better than the ones that actually cost $50.

    • Used mine today for the first time and it was great

Anyone have thoughts on the Red Label Coolcabana on their website which is $299 down from $399?

  • +1

wow I just saw 20 of these at the beach today and was wondering what they were! Really popular

    • +1

Were they all yellow by any chance? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • We went to Mooloolaba beach last week and there were dozens of these! By far the most common was the blue/white stripe. Didn’t see any yellow. I guess nobody on the Sunny Coast knew about the wine deal.

  • If it only had side wall attachment option

    • Thinking to DIY up a solution for that

  • Just set up our OzBargain yellowtail cabana amongst a sea of blue & white cabanas

Easy to put up, no wonder they are so popular

  • Cheaper via BCF $189 using ShopBack gift cards 3% and upside cashback 6%

    • +1

I believe that is for the medium size, and can’t see the large in stock there. Good to know about the cashback if you are after the medium, but it does not warrant a neg.

      • +1

Ahh thanks. Didn’t see that. I’ll remove my negative vote

  • Anyone know how long this mob take to send it out? I ordered yesterday hoping it would get sent asap (yes I acknowledge it’s Christmas period) however reading people’s comments on fb it sounds like it takes weeks to receive - people ordered early Dec and still waiting.
not sure why they don’t sell the large in store at rebel, bcf etc, I can only assume there’s more mark up in the medium size for them..

    • Mine shipped yesterday

      • Has it actually had a scan or is it still at pending?

        • Mine is item processed at facility in Brisbane

        • Yes it is with AusPost

  • Do they still have stock?

  • +2

The design looks very similar to the Komodo beach cabana at Kogan for $80 (or $70 for First members). Obviously you’re just limited to the plain blue colour with the Kogan version but can anyone comment on the difference in quality/functionality?
