be careful even though they reversed the charge on your current statement, you actually have to bring your balance to $0, otherwise it will keep on accruing. I had the same thing happen for The restaurant choice gift card through Bankwest…when I paid using Paypal it flagged it as a "cash advance" I did others using the credit card direct and it was ok, no charge, my westpac cc no charges. They refunded the cash advance fee, but it was still accruing interest, even though I asked her if it would. I got the interest refunded when I saw it on the statement and I more than paid off what the gift card cost, but found out it would keep accruing until I brought the balance down to $0, even though I had paid off my statement amount in full as usual, other charges had gone on since the statement date and that meant it would keep accruing interest on the highest % charging thing, in this case, that one gift card…they take the payments off the lowest % accruing things first….terrible trap to get into.

Ok, not sure why you need to be rude about it.

          Rude?

Apologies if I was coming across as rude. I was only merely pointing that it is not the first time that someone has experienced an issue with CBA credit cards and Giftz.com.au, and I was trying to be as matter-as-fact as possible.

I cannot see how that statement could be rude.

If I wasn't so busy at the time I could have posted it first, why is OzB so hell bent on first posts?

Such a competition, this place has become šŸ˜”

Competition? First posts? Where has this come from?

I don't care about first posts and competitions between other users and what-not; I'm only on this site to share knowledge and sometimes share a "good" deal. I'm not sure why you are accusing me of being hell bent on it and are happy to abruptly attack me when I was trying to be helpful and point out a known issue with CBA credit cards and Giftz.com.au transactions. I mean, you tagged me to ask if I knew the reason this was happening, and although I don't know for certain and have been speculating along with the BHN rep you tagged in your comment before, I at least happily found the evidence for you that this is not an isolated incident.

          • +8

            @WookieMonster: You are NOT RUDE…!
You are an incredibly helpful person …(along with TA) on Ozbargain.
Don't let people destroy what you have built up with your GREAT Deals and Posts !
Thanks very much for your amazing work.
            WELL DONE to you !

            • +2

@robjan02: Agreed. That attack on WM was completely unwarranted, and undeserved.

WM goes out of his way to be thoroughly helpful and professional in every single one of his comment and/or post.

        • I don't think WookieMonster had any intention of being rude.
It's definitely not a competition, and good that you warned people to avoid CBA for this.
I honestly don't care if I was first or not, I just want to help others to avoid having the same frustration with CBA.

    • Confirm just got hit with a cash advance fee on Bankwest CC as well.

      • +1

@AustinBlack looks like a subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank also treats purchases from your website as a cash advance.

        • +2

Citi issued cards treat it as a purchase and award pts. Pretty sure that Macquarie issued cards do the same. However, I have one but did not use it personally.

    • Same thing happened to me. Only just noticed
How did you get them to reverse it. They not playing the game with me.

  • +1

oh man i am so desperately trying to get rid of this sh*tty Aus Post Gift Card (mastercard) but not luck getting it to work anywhere :(

    • +2

It works on Shopback, but you may need to add it more times. Giftz seems not allowing any prepaid cards. Bundll Virtual MC is not accepted, either.

      • legend it worked. thank you

  • +1

FYI does not work with OnlyONE Visa card

  • +1

No Amex/Paypal accepted on the website yeah?

    • i did same but how you are associate and not posting the deal first ? :D

      • I saw this deal then bought it thanks for Ozbargin members :)
        Iā€™m not associated oops
        I will correct it

      • I have made corrections, it was an error when I posted it

  • thank you …. ebay 10% is excellent particularly when you can buy in big amoun as no point buying $30 from shopback as you need plenty to use for bigger purchase and i think there is limit on how many one can use with ebay

    • +4

Yes, the limit is 8 codes per transaction.

    • max save $880, $1100 per gift card.

  • Having done some google reading about what cards they accept, and cash advance + daily interest ….. There's no way I'm going anywhere near this mob!

  • Anyone having issues with checkout? Applied code - shows discounted price, however checked out at full price and CC statement shows full amount paid.?

    • +1

sometimes the codes disappear after you apply it so need to make sure it is 100% applied before checking out

it's happened to me before those those antihistamine deals

      • Thanks for sharing

Participating retailers of the Swap Celebration gift card include:

ASOS, Barbeques Galore, City Beach, Dymocks, eBay, Foot Locker, isubscribe, Lorna Jane, Luxury Escapes, Red Balloon, Sephora, Subway, The Iconic, Youfoodz

Can also be swapped to Deliveroo, H&M, UFC 6M Subscription, UFC 12M Subscription, Marley Spoon, City Perfume, Michael Hill

    • Deliveroo haha…

    • personally I think Barbeques Galore should be called Barbeques Some because they don't even sell Webers

      • That made me laugh!

        • it's true! wanted to buy some weber accessories and they don't do them lol

          • @Poor Ass: Yeah same, needed to buy a stand. I actually couldn't find any locally so ended up buying another brand one, annoying!

    • THANKS HomeAlone!
I don't think I've seen a reliable full list of what can be swapped anywhere (else). For this, or other of these 'swap' cards. They are always given as "including…."
With those additions is that the complete list, or are there still more?

      and
Where did you get that additional list from?

      • +2

I went to swap my card and those were all the additional options shown.

Deliveroo is a strange one considering it's been over 6 weeks now since they shut down operations in Australia.

  • Bought $200 without issues, at 10% I will probably stock up a little.

    • what credit card?

      • +1

Macquarie debit MC, I have also used my ING and ubank debit Visa cards in the past without problems.

        • good to know and no cash advance fee I assume

          • @Poor Ass: Nope.

I have seen that mentioned before and there's some discussion in this deal as well, it appears to be limited to CBA.

  • can you use Coles Prepaid mastercard in Giftz.com.au to buy other gift cards?

    • Already been answered above that they don't accept prepaid cards. I've also tried previously with a Coles PMC and it didn't go through.

  • +2

I swapped to eBay immediately as itā€™s the only store worth swapping. eBay is less likely to go down compare to swap so I wonā€™t lose my money lol

    • -4

Now you can't use other discount code on top of the 10% off when check out. Bad move.

      • +1

You can stack an ebay gift card with one of their vouchers

  • 65" LG CS comes down to $2143 with $55 shipping included from TGG on ebay. I pulled the trigger as my son broke our X90J last week.

edit: Best I can get it down to is $2167.75

      • +1

Yesterday I managed to get jb to lower the price to $2200 via their chat and then used %5 gfc's which brought it down to $2093 (+$3 for gc purchases). Picked up the tv today and watching as I type. OLED is incredible!

Keep eBay's gift card terms and conditions in mind:
No more than a total of $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction, no more than a total of $2,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

    • Ah, wish I read this earlier… Just tried to put through for a new laptop over $1500….

      • And I wish I checked it earlier. I tried to use it on a $2300 transaction. Still happy with it as I now have discount gift cards and eBay plus.

        • I'm stuck with another $1000+ of ebay gift cards as I don't have anything else large i need to buy for a while. Guess I need to shop more! :D

          • +1

@Penro: Same here, left with $900+ gift cards which is fine as we have a baby on the way :)

    • Good info, probably won't ever be applicable to me but still good to know.

  • how long does it take to receive the gift card?

    • The swap card took maybe 5 mins? My credit card flagged it as suspicious initially, but eventually came through. To swap the card it came through pretty much straight away.

      • thanks.

  • thanks, bought some. havent seen ebay with 10% in a while for big denominations

  • I keep getting a "The text wasn't entered correctly. Please try again." error. Not sure what it is. I've chosen an option to check out as a registered user.

      • +1

        Just done that

  • What is the maximum denomination of eBay gift card we can swap? Does eBay has $1100 gift card (in one gift card)

    • $1000 is the highest amount. You can split the $1100 however you like. I got $1000 + $100.

  • Thanks OP. Got $500 gift card.

  • Can you use zip pay?

  • Anyone has this error from eBay when redeeming the code: Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.? I got one through ($1000) and this is the second one ($100).

    • +2

are you using the card # or pin #? Pin should work

      • +1

I am using the card # per ebay voucher! Should i use i pin?

      • +1

@Stylez, the pin worked, thank you. Happy new year!

        • +1

          Just replied :)

  • Am I right in assuming that if you loaded $1000 on swap card then swapped for eBay, it will be a single gift card worth $1000 to be used on eBay? Ie. eBay has gift card quantity limit

    • +1

      Caveat emptor

      Redeem it as you go.

      • sorry to clarify my question: If I purchase a $1000 swap card, do I swap it for 10 * $100 ebay gift cards or a single $1000 ebay gift card? or is there a choice?

        • +1

There's a choice. You can redeem it for whatever combination you want, including a single $1000 card.

edit: actually the max may be $500. (I only purchased the swap card in $500 increments, so perhaps that's why my max was $500. If you have $1000 you may have the option for a $1000 one)

I've decided to go for smaller denominations, since the max is $1500 per ebay transaction, and you can redeem up to 8 cards (or usually 7 as you would need one for discount code). This gives me more flexibility in terms of being about to 'top up' with a small amount in promotions like afterpay or westpac.

    • +1

      Maximum $1500AUD per transaction.

  • Unable to place order said card delined and contact bank

Just bought one card (using st George CC)
Immediately got fraud notice suspicious transaction sms from St George (like many others have commented)
With cash advance fees and multiple different banks flagging the transaction as suspicious, this all seems a bit sus. Googled Blackhawk network and looked at sites like trustpilot etc with hundreds of 1 star reviews and can see why banks have likely flagged the merchant. Probably lots of history of chargeback requests.
Will be converting my card to ebay as soon as I receive.

    • +1

We aren't dodgy, Blackhawk Network is a huge US based company with offices all over the world. Giftz.com.au is our direct to consumer website here in Australia. Gift cards are often purchased fraudulently so the banks are always cautious. Not sure about the trust pilot stuff but if you have any issues please just let me know here and I will do my best to help with any concerns you have :)

      • Rep any chance of more stock?

        • +1

          Sorry all sold out!

    • Pfff…why not just go to their website and scroll down to the bottom to see how many different kinds of GCs they issued have you seen in Woolies? The "ultimate gift for her/him/teens/home/etc" series and the shinning "the perfect gift card" series are ALL issued by them. Trustpilot… you should really trust yourself before you trust a pilot.

  • Great

  • If you buy a gift card say $800 will the ebay card you swap to be 1 $800 card ?
