    Happy New Year!
We haven't done these deals for a while as we cannot management to get cheap stocks.
Distributors claims that Telstra/Boost raised the wholesale price.

please aware of the expire data before you buy.
    Boost $200 10th Aug 2023 and Boost $300 30 April 2023
As I aware, Boost not allow you to use the sim card as a recharge anymore, thus for existing customers you need to port out to another service provider and port in again.
we offer a $30 vodafone starter pack to your connivence, It has 40Gb data and can be used up to 28 days. ($3.08 additional cost after discount).

    Thank you.

If you port out of Boost using that Vodafone SIM, how long, on a minimum, do you have to stay with Vodafone to be considered a new customer again? A week? A month? Please advise.

      • +1

You could port out and back is basically the same day I believe. It would just be a bit of a waste of the 40gb/28day voda plan, but if you really can't deal with Voda for a month you could do it.

      • +1

You dont even need to port out.

    • +1

FYI: your homepage has a typo in the first big line.
      YOU instead of YOUR

    • Boost T&Cs state: "New customers only… Limit to one promotional item per customer".

Does that mean I have to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)?

2023….still no esim 😭 , hope apple makes esim only phones for Australia this year

    • Telstra have esims, we can offer you $300 Telstra with same discount

      • I’ll send you PM for this.

      • Can the same be possible for the $200 e-sim?

        • Did it work for a $200 sim deal ?
If so, please let me know as I’m interested myself for that :)

      • Details of this please?

    • +1

More restrictions? Is this the Apple consumer mindset

    • Why would you want an eSIM only phone?
I travel OS and use local SIMs for the best deals, I'd hate to have an esim only device, I simply.would not buy one (until the world switches to eSIMs).
      Hard pass.

      • +2

That's the only way to force all retailers to offer esim…..

        • It'll happen with time either way (no rush).
We are no where near that time yet to offer eSIM only devices (many US iPhone owners complain about this when travelling) because at the moment, for travellers, It's a major disadvantage.

    • It's good that we in Aus still have a choice (esim & physical SIM) so why the f***k would you wanted Apple place such restriction onto you?

What would you do when travel to a country where esim is not popular?

      • +1

I'm guessing he's not an iPhone user, just saying they if iPhone did that, none of the telcos would stuff around in implementing esims. They'd do it within a week as they'd lose too much business otherwise.

    any yearly 5g plans?

    • 5g still turned on, hopefully they leave the trial/promo going.

  • Currently with boost. Do i have to port in n out if i swrich to Telstra?

    • +2

      yes, you need to.

We have same (Vodafone 30$ start pack) option for Telstra $300

  • Any insider news about the 5g trial post 31st Jan OP?

Been kinnda nice having it and keen to see any new plans with it before locking for another 12m :\

    • My crystal ball says it will be extended to may 23 then again and again and again

  • +4

I heard it's on discussion. Telstra Try to use 5G to make more money. Thus, it limited the access to high price only.
However, most customers not willing to pay for that as 5G still not that reliable. So Telstra make "Trials" for "selected" boost and Telstra customers in hoping more people know the benefits of their 5G network.
Eventually it might be free to access for everyone.

  • Just in time for my current plan expiry, thanks OP

How long do we need to port out for before we can port back in ?

  • +6

FYI, CR is running $40 cashback on $200 (on discount now at $170) 140GB 12-month SIM plan, which brings the cost to $130.

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/boost-mobile

    • +1

I got that one. Kicking myself didn't use 28d card, could have done a price protection claim.

      • Can you please explain the benefit of the 28d card… before I go ahead and purchase!

    • +4

Main issue being you need to activate within 30 days for cash back

      • Just don't buy it more than a month out of needing a new one
Btw mine tracked immediately after purchase.

    • I picked up a $200 boost sim plan with the shopback/ westpac ebay cashback a few days ago
Plus the discounted eBay cards that were all over 12% for about $96

    • +1

Just annoying how long it takes to get the Cashback. Over 4 months in my case for it to be 'confirmed'.

    • See I've got the $200 and $300 SIMs from the CR Boost deal and am kicking myself now. I would literally pay extra $$$ to be on Telstra and get eSIM and Visual Voicemail.

FYI this time last year the boost $300 plan had 300gb of data. It’s now down to 260gb 😔

    • The bonus data changes time to time, but 240Gb main data haven't change since May 2021

      • -1

‘Main data’ doesn’t really mean anything It’s like inflated RRP of products that regularly go on sale at Coleworth.

  • More offers like these in coming months…..since my plan is expiring in March 2023.

    • +1

we cannot get steady cheap price stocks for a while; thus, we haven't posted any deals in the last a few months.

If you plan to port out on March, you can still buy it as the sim expires on 30 April, still enough time left.

  • +2

Can someone please explain the value of this offer compared to something like Kogan?

As far as I can tell:
    - this is $231 for 260GB.
    - Kogan is $165 for 500GB.

Is it just that you pay to be on the Telstra network vs Vodafone?

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

    • -2

International calls, kogan data is averaged over 12 months, and will be cleared at the end of each month. If you use more than the monthly data, you need to pay extra money to buy.

The data of boost and Telstra is for 12 months to use, use as much as you like every month.

      • +2

Thanks for pointing out the international calls, but I think the Kogan data can be used whenever you like in the 12 month period. There is no monthly cap.

        • +2

yes with Kogan when you activate the plan you can opt for a 42gb per month allowance (no rollover) or take the whole 500 gb at once allowing it to be used freely over the year

          • @kiwibro: Although I love and use the low cost data available from various Kogan and Vodafone starter

packs on sale, when travelling away from major cities and Hwy's around Australia,

or often even in regional or country towns, Telstra is the one you have a chance to receive.

Of course this can vary in different areas and even Telstra can often be out or slow,

but it's all about maximising possibilities.

    • With Boost you get free international calls to selected countries but with that Kogan plan theres no international calls included

      • Cheers I think this is the only other difference I overlooked.

    • +4

I’ll happily pay a premium every time to avoid Vodafone’s network.

    • I use to be kogan but you cant beat telstra network so i pay the premium to sick with telstra.

      • +1

        to sick with telstra

I dont think this relationship is healthy for you.

        • Must people know Telstra's network is the best overall, but obviously have to choose what's best for your exact location in the event you live in a blackspot for whichever network (but most people have WiFi anyway (and most phones and Sims support wi-fi calling).

I wouldn't call a prepaid SIM too much of a premium compared to postpaid plans, great value but this is ozbargain I guess.

    • +1

I’ve used Kogan (2 years) before but the Vodafone network deteriorated in my living area and often with weaker 4G signal. Change to new iPhone and still the same issue. Switched to Boost network for almost 1.5 years and no issues at all. Phone can switch to Wifi phone when 4 G network is weak. That’s the key to switch over. If your Vodafone (Kogan) doesn’t working well for you, switch to Boost.

    • -4

You can not compare… Kogan beats in every area (maybe some country, rural areas telstra network could be better)
There is a group here in ozbargains loves and brings Boosts deals with high positive mark.
Kogan gives better deals every time and people gives negative mark. I am in Gold Coast and love Kogan mobile (Vodaphone network) for 4 years. Lots of data, never drops out.
I used to be with Boost… They had terrible customer services (I should say no customer services).

      • I was right, some people math skills not great…
They think Boost 260GB for $231 better than Kogan 500GB for $165

    • -1

Along with everyone’s thoughts below boost also provides a reasonable international roaming package - 3GB 7 days $30 and 5GB 14 days for $40. The quantity of mins of calls are a bit ordinary but meh.

  • What’s the expiry on the 12 month $200 and $300 Boost sims please ?

    • +1

You need to activate the sim before these dates:

      Boost $200 10th Aug 2023 and Boost $300 30 April 2023

after activation, the 12months counts from the activation date.

  • What is the expiry of the Vodafone Sim for port out.
My current boost is set to expire at the end of march

    • +2

There's no expire date of Vodafone $30 starter pack although Vodafone requires us to tell customers need to be activated 365 days after purchase.

  • When you say "expiry" do you mean that is the latest date we can activate the sim?

    • +1

Yes, it's the last date you can activate the sim, after activation, the data inclusion can be used for 12 months.

  • I just contact boost to move my number to the new sim. I dont port out and in.

    • If you really lucky and got a nice customer service lady willing to help you, it's still doable.

  • +2

hmmm i see the data usage has dropped by 20Gb for this year and thats after the bonus +20 if activated before end of Jan…

    • Yep. My current $300 plan from January last year was 300gb data

  • If I order now do you think this could be delivered Sydney metro area on or before Friday 5th Jan?

    • Depends on your luck. As I aware, post office quite slow this moment even for Express, which was supposed to be next business day but usually takes a few days.

      • Thanks. I put an order through with express post. Fingers crossed

  • What's the expiry on the Telstra equivalent

    • Oct 2023

      • Telstra ones sold out? or do I need to PM?

      • I'm keen. Already PM. Cheers.

  • Thanks for the deal!

  • Expiry in April 2023 means you just have to activate it before then, and then get 12 months?

    • +1

      yes, you are right

  • +1

Thanks OP, purchased for all of my family. Great deal for the best mix of price/coverage/gigabytes available IMHO.

  • I changed from boost to coles mobile and coles is better than boost at my place and work.

    Hawthorn and Doncaster

    • Well, Coles uses Optus and in some areas that can happen, also Voda can be better in some, others Telstra. YMMV.

      • +1

The thing is boost does not provide full signal as Telstra does. When I use boost mobile antenna was always 1/4 or 2/4, 3/4 at max while my Telstra phone from work always gives me 3/4 or 4/4.

        They aren’t the same

        • Thanks for your comment as I was really tempted to go for Telstra for that exact reason as I travel a lot in the country. I have had similar experience comparing two same model phones, one with Boost Mobile sim, other with Telstra Prepaid in a few different areas over various times. Sometimes there is little to no difference, but often there is. I have brought this up on here a few times, but most people believe the Boost mobile sales spieles. I have now sent a message to rep asking to swap my $300 Boost Sim for the Telstra one as same price, hopefully they still can do that as last night was sold out.

          • @ozhunter68: what's the equivalent telsta sim deal?
hopefully my boost mobile sim turns up soon, still got near the end of the month to activate though

            • @G-rig: Same store, Simonline is offering the Telstra $300 Prepaid SIM starter pack with same 23% off discount as the Boost Mobile $300 Sim. Keep in mind you get less data and different int calls/txts, but although many city people on here will argue differently, Telstra still gives you better priority rural signal strength and/or data speeds in
"Certain Places at Certain Times", but
other people's Millage Might Vary lol.

              • +1

@ozhunter68: Yeah could be of value
Will see if the one from boost direct shows up

  • Do you have eBay link?

  • The $200 Boost SIM costs $130 after $40 cashback from cash rewards from an earlier offer which expires on the 3rd of Jan, check this out

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745124

    • +2

Helpful for some but keep in mind SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering to get the cash back.

  • +2

If your transferring from telstra to boost. There is no need to use a "middleman" sim. You can ring boost. Confirm your identity (they have the same access that telstra does) and confirm the simcard number your transferring to. Theyll send a verification text from telstra to confirm you are the holder of the account and its switched over fast. In my case it took less then 45mins on the 15th of December, i dont think it should matter. But i was on postpaid. Got sick of paying $50 something a month and barely using my phone data. So i upfronted the 12m $200 (paid $170) sim. Haven't had any driffence in service either. Thats including speeds, oh, only driffence sorry. Unlimited international calls on boost

    • When I switch out of Boost Mobile to Optus ( only for 28 till I port back to Boost with this deal ),

do I still need to have credit to return a confirmation TXT ?

Same apply porting out of Optus to Boost Mobile, do I have to have credit to return a confirmation TXT ?

      • +1

I didn't have to send a text. They texted me a code which was from telstra and i gave it to him while on the phone. Boost and telstra have the same backend system i found. Didnt even have to create a online account. Just logged in with my telstra info

        • Yes, that is all correct and applies if you call up. As I activate sim starter packs

( and used to port number monthly ), I find it quicker to use the online portal, but then

with some providers you need to confirm your number via txt for security.

Did you have to wait long before Boost answered your call as with Covid events was

          impossible to get through ?

          • @ozhunter68: If your transferring from optus you should be able to do it online. Telstra to boost you have to call. Its transferred different because its the same system. Its probably equivalent to if you got a replacement simcard and had to transfer your number to the new sim. Same process. I didn't call there main number. I called their activation line number

            • @Jake17: Thanks. Aware of all that. It's been almost 12 months since I have ported my

number between any provider, and things are changing often, so just preparing

to not get stuck but as my credit runs out on Sunday ( and have loads of data still left ),

I prefer not to have to port on Friday and lose 2-3 days just so I can reply a TXT.

              • @ozhunter68: The text came through when i was on the phone.
