I updated the firmware (not through the Razer app). Dropouts have reduce dramatically.

    • Good to know, thanks!

      • You’re very welcome

I bought the same mouse recently. My issues have been batteries dying surprisingly fast (using as a work mouse with eneloops, finding it dies after a few days whereas my Logitech g305 would last a few months between recharges on the same AA battery). Firmware didn't fix this unfortunately.

Aside from that annoyance it's quite a comfortable mouse for me.

Even after firmware updates which did somewhat improve the dropouts I found it quite unreliable overall especially with frequent switching between devices (work on Bluetooth, desktop on 2.4ghz). Changed to a deathadder V2 which has been much more reliable overall even when switching devices.

I choose Amazon for the sake of easy return.

  • Worth it over getting the more expensive Viper Ultimate?

  • how does this rate as a 'work' mouse (as opposed to gaming mouse)?
Want something, around this budget, with some programmable hotkeys.

    • I think for non gaming use it would be fine

    • I bought one last year for work and have no complaints

    • I'm using mine for work. Seems to die quickly when using eneloops. I'm finding I need to change batteries every few days whereas my Logitech g305 would last month's on a single eneloop.

Aside from that, it's quite comfortable, especially with a gliding wrist rest.

I hate logitech mice due to their common failing click button issues…. But I can't leave them.
I tried this Razer mouse; and not only did it cause Windows to try and auto install some extra software I didn't approve, but the phyical buttons were stiffer than any Logitech option.

I kept having delays to my clicks since I needed more pressure than I was used to.

Mouse worked fine though. Just a heads up for any gamers 'switching' who are sensitive to that..

  • I have two of those as they're great, but it's not really a deal considering I bought one from amazon two weeks ago for 42.

Was $39 during BF deals according to C3

I'm sorry I bought this mouse last year and changed before 6 months back to my wired mouse. It had drop outs for me on both Bluetooth and dongle. Maybe other people have had a better experience

This was very frustrating for gaming: probably fine for office use

I've had mine since Mar 2021 and haven't experienced drop outs myself.

If it had dropped out while gaming I wouldn't recommend it but it would only drop out for me after going afk. I would come back to an unresponsive mouse.

A firmware update has fixed much of the dropouts. I don't even remember the last time mine dropped out.

  • Razer seems to have used different left/right micro switches over time on these. I've seen a few with Kailh GM 4.0's in there, and some with Omron D2FC-F-K. (Both with Razer colouring, of course)

    They'll probably have a subtly different… stiffness.

I've been using this mouse for the past 2 years. The first one I got had the dropout issues, but the replacement I received under warranty has been perfect. The mouse is excellent for both work and gaming, and the ergonomics are better than any other mouse I used. It genuinely feels like this mouse was made for my hand, as it's a lovely experience to use.

Battery life is good, and the option to pick the BT mode extends the battery life significantly. This mouse was ~$40 on a deal a little while ago, so $52 isn't anything too special for the mouse. Amazon had it for $49 a few weeks back too.

If you need a mouse, for $52 this is a well justified purchase. If you can wait, try and get it for ~$40 on a future deal.

picked this up on black friday - no issues and a great feeling mouse. haven't noticed any dropouts - but bare in mind I haven't gamed on it

Got this for $39 just over a month ago. I've not experienced drop out issues, but I only use it for work. It's a really nice mouse for work usage. Quite good ergonomics for a non-upright mouse.

  • Had it for 2 yrs and did experience drop out issue but very rare, like twice only. definitely not perfect but acceptable for the price. Battery life, ergonomic, latency and etc are great for my standard.

  • I'm happy with mine. Very minor connection issues sporadically.

Are there any other alternatives that have 2.4ghz and Bluetooth? It's a winner combo for work laptop versus gaming pc

Got rid of mine. Would drop out a couple of times a week, and need the battery removed and replaced to get working again.

  • Would never buy this mouse again. Very frequent dropouts and terrible battery life.

  • Seems I will defend this mouse to the end of time. The dropout issue has DEFINITELY been resolved in the last year - completely forgot about it till reading these comments.

I have 2 and both of them haven't had a single issue in the last 6-12 months - switching between BT devices and the wifi dongle daily between work and home. No special firmware update just the bundled razer software.

Battery life I also get about 3 months but I don't use eneloops but alkalines cuz I get them from work.

  • Which Basilisks have the hyperscroll, ie you can flick the scroll wheel and it'll keep spinning?
