Something to note - around $36 delivery fee if you're not a Prime member

one would be pretty dumb if they didn't sign up at that point

  • Officeworks matches Amazon UK?

    • +13

      No they don't.

      • Nope, tried multiple times

Worked for me the other day for the 6a.

There's another comment in that thread just now that was successful too.

Depends on who you serve you at Officeworks.

OW price beat the 6a Chalk for me over the phone with Amazon. They looked it up on Amazon and price beat. Might have been lucky.

          • @Tim Mc: Amazon UK or AUS?

            • @Benjamin7711: I told them Amazon Australia and they looked it up there. They may not have seen "Amazon UK" as the seller.

              • @Tim Mc: Doesn't matter it's still on the .au website.

        • I think they've tightened up on it. Went to a few stores & called up a few stores to see if they would price match for the 6a. No luck.

        • Looking at that receipt the phone without price match was around $475. I'm seeing $747 on Officeworks website. How did you get it so cheap??!!

          • +1

@Batapotamus: 6a Chalk was about 477 on Amazon AU and OW beat it by 5%, 453

      That's pixel 6 pro

Reports of the camera glass shattering has put me off a little…

    • Yeah I was coming in to ask what the response was, so far not much… ho hum.

Tempted for Graphene, but camera lens…

    • No problems so far for me… I do have a case on the phone.

    • +1

      Put a case on
      Reports of dropping lol

PS waiting for under $699 for price protection.. probably won't in a year.

      • Who do you use for price protection? Are 28 degrees still the go-to for that?

        • +1

Yep, was referring to that but don't think it's offering for new customers. Doubt the phone will be half price for a while like with the 3XL. It helped waiting 8-12 months after the phone is released for the best price. Pixel 5 cost a bit in comparison.

    • I'm fairly sure that a lot of those were for temperatures of -20°C. But I'm weary about buying one too

      • Don't buy anything

You can get little tempered glass protectors for the camera if you are worried

        • +1

          arstechnica article on the subject

These specialized smartphone glass panels increase scratch resistance by building stress into the glass. We don't know the manufacturer of Google's camera glass, but a Corning engineer explains the general process in this Scientific American article, saying, "There's a layer of compressive stress, then a layer of central tension, where the glass wants to press out, then another layer of compressive stress." If you mess something up in your glass formula and these layers aren't in a perfect balance, one day the glass will just go "pop" and you'll get these outward mini explosions.

This is UK stock so no, local stores won't beat or match this.

  • +5

I have doubts officeworks will price match. Won’t they just throw the “this is overseas stock” and tell you to get lost?

    • Yep! Tried many times with the Pixel 6a…

Worked for me the other day for the 6a.

    • It's Aus site (via UK), but they play the card that you need membership for Amazon

  • This or pixel 6 pro for $100 cheaper? Thanks

  • is there local warranty and support?

  • Def better going the Optus route of one month of plan plus phone cost and get a free pixel 6a with it then resell either that or the 7

  • +1

Great phone! No shattered camera glass yet… and i'm a known butterfingers.

    • +1

Don't forget to knock on wood

      • Instructions unclear, knocked phone on wood

  • +3

Anyone aware of any Pixel 7 Pro deals apart from the Optus one mentioned above?

  • -3

do these still overheat when using googles maps? my Pixel5 only work for 20 mins when using maps.

  • Isnt telstra up front 749

    • Was upfront $749. Sale has finished

  • Does anyone know if you can use Amazon AU gift cards, given it is on the AU store but the seller is Amazon UK?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Paid $984 for my 7 pro with 5% off unidays code and then got JBhifi to price match it in store. Had to ask two different staff before one of them agreed to do it.

    • well done as its very hard to get under $1050 atm. wish I copped that release hardly normal deal for $897 with an added $150 GC. some even got a 256GB 7pro for ~$600

      • How do you even find Pixel 7 pro at 1050 or slightly above. cheapest i can find is $1291.

  • A salesperson in JB told me they would price match Google and even Amazon.

I'm considering purchasing outright from Optus at $999 and if I can get $200 or $300 for the free 6a, I'm way ahead.
