50% off $2 Lebara SIM ($1) @ Woolworths

153

Half price $2 Lebara SIM card ($1) with 365 day expiry at Woolworths.

Edit: Appears you are not be able to use this $1 SIM by itself for 365 days…

The third step of the activation process is selecting a plan. So i think you can't activate this SIM without selecting and paying for a plan.

So this SIM card is no good for parking a phone number. Because you have to select and pay for a plan as part of the activation process. Waste of $1 then if that's what you want it for.

Thanks hollykryten.

Vodafone network if it matters.

  • Can I confirm this doesn't need to be recharged to activate?

      • Ah darn, just got the SIM and yet to put it in/activate.

        I'll add to description.

        • Yes. Well it's listed on the activation page. Third step is "Your Plan" which is selecting a plan to activate the SIM with. I think there is no PAYG to select so what else can there be other than being forced to select and pay for a plan?.

@hollykryten: Which I feel is quite deceptive given it says PAYG and 365 day expiry on the cover.

Should have looked a little further before checking out, let alone posting. Oh well… Lesson learnt.

@Apostle0748: This may be an old SIM starter from old stock. Lebara may have used to have PAYG years ago. It says so in this document from 2019 that there used to be a $10 365 days PAYG plan. But it's not listed on the current web site so i would say that they discontinued it. All the current long terms start at $120 and these are actual unlimited calls plans and can't be used as PAYG.

          • @hollykryten: There is a PAYG option with Lebara - minimum $5 - Select "PAY AS YOU GO" on the far right when you get to the "YOUR PLAN" selection.

  • No credit but good for those that want to easily park a number or use it to use port out/back in to make use of new customer discounts.

Have you tried this? I don't see any PAYG options on their website.

In fact you've got to select a plan at the third step of the activation process. And i believe you also would have to enter credit card details also. This is no good for phone number parking.

  • any other options with cheap int roaming mainly for calls/sms

Oh my god… a whole $1 saving… quick drive in your car to woolies and waste many dollars of petrol

      Do you even OzBargin?

      • Free / 1¢ sims or riot!

        • Lol

    • it's not just a $1

      its 50%, geez, some people

  • So this doesnt seem good for phone number parking, what other cheap options are there for 365 day expiry sims?

not even a bargain, by online and Select a plan , free sim card delivered to your home, why waste $1 to buy this blank sim card without any credit pre-loaded???

  • +1

I don’t think they are allowed to activate sims without credit anymore

$1 profit from Shopback Boost Mobile deal. Get paid to use for 28 days.

  • Previous experience with Lebara, activated and recharged with $10 credit like I do with Lycamobile but with Lebara that $10 credit expired after 30 days so I had to contact customer service and buy a $15 plan to use my $10 credit on last day. Not happy. Never happened wth my Lycamobile sim.

  • When you activate you need to buy a plan. So essentially paying $1 for a blank sim, something no Ozbargainer should do. So many better sim offers than this.

    • totally agree

There are plenty of free sim cards available and even some you can make profit from.

I don't work anymore, just buy Boost sims.

        Same.
My kids are also dropping out of school now to do this.

        • In Victoria, Boost Sim Deal days are announced to be a public holiday.

  • Anyone know what sim can you get that you don't need to add a plan and the number is active?

    • +1

I recently got a Telstra $2 SIM starter and it didn't require a plan to activate. It just activated with no credit.

      • Oh cool that's great to know thanks

        • Yeah from memory there was a selection in the activation stage to activate without a plan. It went ahead fine.

          • +1

@hollykryten: When I activated one as a test on 9/10/22 it warned me that I'd only be able to receive calls and text messages for seven days, without an active recharge (or words to that effect). However, 98 days later and it can still receive. :)

            • @Colin2905: That's good. Usually i think that it may actually be 3 months before the SIM becaomes deactivated. So your SIM might become deactivated any day.

              • @hollykryten: Prepaid Telstra/Boost sevice has a 6 mths period. Each Telco has its own policy.

                • @Neoika: Oh i didn't know about that. Other providers have a 3 month period. That's good to know Telstra SIM has a 6 month non recharge expiry.

                  • @hollykryten: Boost Mobile reminded me of the exact disconnection day 3-4 weeks ahead.

                • @Neoika: oh nice, this is good to know.

Now I can do 1 year on aldi sim for $5, port to telstra $2 sim for 6 months, back to aldi for 1 year for $5 - repeat.

      • Will that have free incoming calls for the year?
