8GB LPDDR4X soldered to the motherboard, no RAM upgrades. Review https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/acer-swift-5-2020-next-project-…

There is absolutely nothing good about it. Brand is meh, configuration not great for that price point.

    Soldered 8GB Ram. No deal

$100 more, same processor, upgradeable RAM. Smaller SSD, but upgradeable too. Lenovo T series build quality.

  • 8GB soldered….

Unfortunately not a good deal at all considering the specs. There have been deals from Harvey Norman alone with better CPUs, screens and chassis in 14" and below.

  • Acer have been the most unreliable and most difficult machines to repair / maintain.
They are rubbish and should be avoided at all cost.

Wait for a mediocre specced $999 E series Thinkpad instead.

If you can wait for the right price you could end up with a Ryzen mobile, with better iGPU and likely dual channel 16GB DDR4.
Don't run single chan on a Ryzen though if you ever have any interest in even light gaming, in most cases straight up halves FPS.
