  • Has anyone done an energy consumption test with these?

Wondering if I should switch from my 4 RPIs to this.

    • It would take you a while to save the $250 in electricity back

      • RPI's could sell well?

    • If it's for Plex, and youre not transcoding ( you have a player at the tv you watch the media ), no, not worth.

I'm in the same boat, have downloaders and Plex on a raspi4 with external HDD.

Have thought about moving to this but I really don't need it.

Only reason would be if I move to unraid in the future, which will depend on how long my existing HDDs last for

      • Plex
        Deluge
        Radarr
        Prowlarr
        Sonarr
        Home assistant
        Win 11

Would switch over to Proxmox and a bunch of VMs

        • You don't need windows 11 to run all those, and a raspi4 works fine

          • @Whomastadon: I’m not using windows to run any of those..

They’re all on Linux and docker containers.

Win 11 is needed for something else.

        • Planning on running this stack with this OptiPlex, is there a Proxmox installation guide / tutorial?

            • @bdl: Thanks, I've came across that.

I guess what I meant to ask is something that's focused on installing Plex + *arr stack + Home Assistant.

              • +1

@settings: This has one click installs for a bunch of VMs. I'd put the *arr stack in a seperate Docker VM (can google a Docker Arr Stack with Docker Compose script), but Plex + Home Assistant as their own VMs.

                • @reubenb87: Where can I find the one click installs? Is there a link I'm not seeing?

Thanks for the tips. From what I've been reading, a lot of it going way above my head, this is the path I think I'll be taking.

              • +1

@settings: I use Docker of all of the *arr's + Plex from https://www.linuxserver.io

I'd create a VM in Proxmox with Alpine or something minimal, Debian minimal etc install docker and you're off.

  • Thanks bought 2 for the office, any deals for 2 cheap monitors?

    • +1

Yo these guys did a phenomenal sale on monitors a month ago. 32 inch 4k for about $175. Mine had DPort and HDMI cables included.

      Watch their eBay site.

      • +1

I'm on this monitor with them right now. great quality and insanely fast shipping

  • +1

you think this would be powerful enough to be a retro gaming machine playstation, N64 emulation etc?

    • Yeah easily. Maybe even up to ps2 or wii. Chromecast 4k will do up to ps1 and some n64 for $90.

  • +1

$283.92 delivered with 16GB of RAM is a great price. I had a quick look on FB Marketplace and there's no micro/tiny PCs (Dell, HP, Lenovo) with an 8th-gen CPU under $350 with only 8GB of RAM in Melbourne, let alone the 16GB of RAM.

  • Does these use the standard DDR3 slots?

  • Cheers OP, grabbed one. Can you defiantly confirm this has bluetooth? It's listed above but I'm not seeing it in the ebay item description.

    • +1

If they're the same ones they sold back in October, which it looks like they are, then yes, it's got Bluetooth.

      • is that built in or via usb blutooth??

        • It was built in with the one I got back in October.

  • what version of display port does it use?

  • Hey op, are you going to release the brand new one for this pc? Last time you released the brand new monitors after the used one are sold out. I would prefer brand new one with a small premium.

    • No, that was a one time only thing.

  • The included Wifi is the proper onboard one, correct? Not a USB dongle?

    • +1

      Correct

      • is Bluetooth included and is it via dongle or built in?

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one. Haven't thought of the real use of this yet, but must be handy and useful at some point, for some purposes lol. Buy now, use later!

    • +3

      This guy OzBargains

  • does anyone know if this is capable of running heavy macros?

  • Ordered one. Ebay listing says Win 11 Home. Is it home or pro?

  • Been a fan of the Optiplex 9020 SFF’s from these guys, but I do like the look of these compact options. Currently using one 9020 for Plex and the other as my openwrt router.

Would there be any way to install a 2nd NIC? Other than a usb nic adapter

    • Does this have any pcie expansion at all?

I think it has a mini PCI-e slot for Dell add-on cards like serial, extra DP/HDMI, extra ethernet etc, but definitely not full PCI-e. It's tiny.

This is actually the OG shop on Taobao who designs and sells quality mini/tiny/micro NICs. Replaces the add-on slot card without further modification. There's similar stuff on Aliexpress but I don't think they're the same thing.

For 7060 micro you can choose between Intel and Realtek chip, 1g/2.5g variants. It replaces the WiFi card and uses PCIe x1 channel on that card so works flawlessly compared to USB NICs.

  • I have a spare i7-8700k floating around, would I be able to slot that into here? Same socket but I feel like there's some other consideration I'm missing

    • +10

Bit like stuffing a Birds Eye chilli into ur left nostril

      It’ll fit, but it’ll burn

    • +1

Looks tricky due to the size of the case but could be possible

    • +1

I have a spare i7-8700k floating around, would I be able to slot that into here?

Although it will fit and run, it'll struggle under load because the cooling system was designed for low TDP CPUs. The BIOS doesn't have many options and you don't get control over things like frequency, multiplier, vcore etc which would allow you to downclock or undervolt it to get it within the thermal capabilities of the cooler.

It would be overall somewhat pointless to do.

      • Oh yeah, underclocking and undervolting it was my plan. If that's not an option here i might just do an ITX build with it or something

    • +1

These micro builds are designed for 35W TDP processors like the 8500T. The power brick that comes with it is basically a 65(?)W laptop charger.

i7-8700K has a 95W TDP, so thermally it will be a disaster. And I doubt the supplied power brick will be able to provide enough juice :)

      • The CPU in the PC is an i5-8500t rated at 35w

So what are you talking about?

        • The i7-8700k that roseyhead has floating around….. Keep up.

  • How many sata ports does the motherboard have? Don't care about what will fit inside the case, just want to know how many ports are actually available to plug in.

  • This or a Synology NAS I have been going to buy for ages now

    Tempted to pull the trigger….

    • depends whether you want more than 1 disk

  • is the 16gb ram upgrade 2x8 modules or 1x16?

    • +1

On first page OP says it will depend on what is available at the time and you can’t guarantee single slot 16.

  • Can anyone comment how much money wattage does this cost to run a year? I just want to run adguard home or pi-hole so I'm quite conflicted whether to buy this or raspberry pi 4 :/

    • +1

pihole you could run on a zero… wouldnt get this for just a pihole

      • Thanks for the advice - i might just wait until raspberry pi 4 is cheaper

        • As Azif said, Pi-Hole you could run on a basic pi. These would be great as a hypervisor.

    • FYI I run Adguard Home on Pi 1, Pi 2, nanopi neo - all run without issue :) Ran PiHole on same hardware previously, too. Use DietPi (dietpi.com) as a base OS.

(also run it on docker on synology as well as on my opnsense box, both run fine)

  • Can you provide a link to upgraded version of this with 1Gb SSD and 16Gb RAM and how much ?

Basically, I just want to buy something that I can store my stuff and decent RAM and not worry about upgrading in future for a while.

  • +1

It looks like this is just about sold out.

We have another 400 more that have just come off hold. I'll try and get them pulled before this coupon code runs out.

I'd have to guess mid to late next week.

  • Bought with upgraded RAM. Thanks.

This works for me as I was tossing up a plan to separate out Plex and other Docker containers (home assistant, scrypted, UniFi) off the Synology NAS and was thinking about using an rPi to handle parts of it. This is probably better and still has a small foot print.

  • I'm looking for something for elderly people with limited English.
I'm hoping to have it hooked up to their dumb tv and always on YouTube. So they turn on the tv and it's straight onto YouTube.
Will this be a good solution?

    • +1

Get a fire tv stick. This is overkill for YouTube

      • Can the fire stick remain on at all times?
I'm hoping the PC be on 24/7
Theyre not capable of using a Nokia 8200 phone to call…

      • +1

And also inefficient use of electricity

    • Get a Chromecast or similar.

      • See above but is the Chromecast on at all times?

        • Yes, as long as it is powered.

        • +3

hey mmd, the Chromecast turns on by just pressing a button on the remote (which should also power on the TV if the TV has CEC via HDMI, or if you want to get fancy, get a Google Home and they can tell it to turn on the TV (I assume that would work in other languages than English if configured correct).

The Chromecast has a dedicated YouTube button on the remote, along with volume and a voice command button and they can talk into the remote to do searches (again, I am unsure how this would go in languages other than English, but assume it would work with configuration changes). Feel free to drop me a PM if you have more questions.

  • Out of stock. Will there be more?

  • Anyone used one of these as a CCTV PCNVR??

  • Any more 7060 Micro’s coming in the future? How about 7070’s now the 7080 is out.

  • +5

Should have another 140 units available today, however, they will most likely not ship till next week if ordered today or tomorrow.

    • In stock yet?

      • should come online in the next 10 mins

        • Thanks!

  • +2
