Apparently the NEWBRAND20 code stacks with the current promos. Not sure if this is still considered a deal but $29 for a 4MP Wifi Camera if you have ebay Plus seems pretty good.

  • Apparently the NEWBRAND20 code stacks with the current promos.

I thought eBay stopped code stacking ages ago??

Edit. Just tried it. Yes it works but the newbrand20 discount applies automatically after adding to cart but before checkout.

I grabbed 4 of these on a similar deal around a year ago and can recommend. Thinking of grabbing two more. So far very reliable run great on Apple HomeKit Secure Video through the Scryped app on the home server via RTSP feed. After set up you can lock them down to the local network keeping it private from IMOU. Or if happy to keep them online there is a HACS IMOU Cloud integration on HASS allowing you to set PTZ locations and adjust other settings.

Thanks for your comments. I was wondering if these need to "call home" on a regular basis.
Happy to hear you can lock them down after setup.
Was looking to replace some of my Foscams, since they've been discontinued.
Shame there is no replacement for the Livecams Pro app (I can only use it on my older iPads as it's been discontinued on the itunes store)

I love a good acronym but this is getting ridiculous.

    • where did you put those 4 cameras?
do you also have cameras for outdoor and what models?

does imou app only allow max of 4 cameras?
and how did you lock down the network to local?

      • +2

The only cameras I have are these. I use them mainly to monitor my dogs while I'm away. I have 2 indoors and 2 outside mounted to the underside of my carport. They are rated only for indoor but seem to work fine for me covered outside. Have had 35 degree days and humid days and they are still going strong.

I'm not aware of any limitations for how many IMOU cameras you can have. I've actually ordered another 2 from this deal as the price is so good.

I blocked them through a router firewall rule. Keep in mind once they are firewalled you can't change the camera's settings.

        • for the outdoor one, how did you connect the extension to power it?

also why not get some outdoor ones also from this brand?

          • @pinkybrain: I just ran an extension lead up there, tidied it up with cable ties. Mounted the camera with strong outdoor double sided tape. To be honest I intended to replace them for outdoor ones originally but so far I see no reason to.

            • @KettleChunky: so is extension lead plug into a wall outlet inside your home?
and does it go under the door or garage door or you drill a hole in the wall for the extension lead etc?

would be good to see a pic if you can provide

So how many total imou cameras do you have now?

And can you do a test by adding all the devices to the imou app
and tell me if the camera footage or UI gets laggy? (Read some posts that reported this issue).

    • When you say "After set up you can lock them down to the local network keeping it private from IMOU" do you mean block the outbound on the firewall or is there some function in the camera to tick/untick?

      • +2

Sorry yeah I should have been more clear on that. I created a firewall rule in Unifi restricting the cameras to the local network only. The app does have a “Privacy Mode” toggle but from what I can tell it just disables a few functions such as RTSP which is not what I wanted.

Any idea of these can work with Synology Survalance? That requires a RTSP url. And not use the native app and broadcast your home security feed? Also, they just need 5V power?

    • Yes, it will work

    • +2

They use 5v 1A micro usb.

RTSP URL that works for me is: rtsp://admin:[email protected]:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif

You will need the native app for the initial set up at the very least. They are Dahua cameras essentially so the Dahua Config application can work with them to some extent for some settings adjustment.

      • Has anyone had any luck with a 'compatible' setting for use with apps like IP Cam Viewer etc to have full working PTZ functionality etc? If I choose Dahua RTSP camera, I can get video and audio, but no PTZ.

Can recommend this, had it setup to Synology DS Cam to store recordings.

  • Legend, will use for nonsense

  • What is the difference between $46 or $47?

          • @sanT17: heck yeeaa managed to get one thanks for replying to this message lolol

  • Thanks OP, given that it is indoor use only it can be used behind front door side glass panel to monitor for deliveries. Plenty of features on it for $30 so worth a try.

Anyone know a good one like this that's outdoor and uses poe? Need some new cams for the blueiris setup

Would these cameras work via a powerpack? We ideally don't want cords at a low level for the toddlers room. For example, I have 20,000mAh pack with outputs 5.1V/2.4A; 9V/2A; 12V/1.5A, could this be used and if so, how long would it last?

Am I right in thinking 20hrs in theory with the above considering the input of the camera is 5V@1A and the charger is 20Ah, therefore 20hrs?

    • +4

Can confirm worked fine with powerbank outside under cover 40k bank gets around 3 day's constantly recording

    • Can you please share where you bought that power pack from?

  • Hows the app? Laggy?

The thought of children growing up with surveillance cameras in their houses is extremely troublesome to me.

    So unnatural.

Outdoor is understandable. To protect against home invasion. But indoor.

    My god. What a future.

    • +1

We were hijacking indoor cameras over 10 years ago. It's not something that new.

      • what you mean by that statement?

        • Indoor cameras aren't a new thing people have started doing. IP cameras, printers, factory diesel generators and all sorts of other stuff are exposed to the internet and with the default login you can do all sorts of things.

I think the German manufacturing plant with their diesel generator control panel accessible over the internet was the most dangerous thing I've seen.

Natural or unnatural is just what the child is used when it is growing up.

It is quite natural for a child born in tech era to know to swipe and touch icons on a phone/tablet
which would be quite unnatural to a person not born in this tech era…(e.g. grandparents who would not be as tech savy as that child).

      e.g.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQuDIA0jYCM

Maybe in a 100 years time, every child will have neural implants in their brains and this would be natural to the society at that time.

      • My point isn't wether they would get use to it or not. It is that they are conscious of being recorded at all times. It does something to your mind and behaviour knowing that everything you do can be played back and checked. I don't really understand how people could be so nochalent about it. It's scary.

We live under constant monitoring and surveillance. Most people reading this post can't even remember a time when you could walk out your door and no-one knew where you were or how to contact you.

Would be nice to think children could just grow up not being recorded and tracked .

        • It is that they are conscious of being recorded at all times

Actually once people are used to something they forget it is there.
Think of all the times when people shop in stores and go out in the streets and commit crimes and it is all recorded.
Once something becomes the norm, people forget about it.

It does something to your mind and behaviour knowing that everything you do can be played back and checked. I don't really understand how people could be so nochalent about it. It's scary.

Most people are going about day to day living knowing that there are cameras everywhere recording you.
But it has it changed people's mind or behaviour?
And if it has, then the main benefit is people are less likely to commit crimes compared to before.

Only when people are actively about to commit a crime or do something shady, then they watch where the security cameras are.
So it can also be a good deterrence for people wanting to commit a crime.

I don't really understand how people could be so nochalent about it. It's scary.

          Not about being nochalent,
it is about weighing up pros and cons and deciding for your own family.

We live under constant monitoring and surveillance. Most people reading this post can't even remember a time when you could walk out your door and no-one knew where you were or how to contact you.

There are pros and cons with everything in life.
Security cameras can be good for monitoring if your child is doing something dangerous and it can also help with behaviour problems if they know that you can see them.

The cameras have also caught babysitters/nanny hitting their child etc.

I think this one is back in stock? Edit. Oh I see the price increases

    • Hmm $36.65. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger since it was under $30 before :(

      • still not bad price if you need it.
they just remove the stacking code (maybe limited time offer or they forgot about it)
