Jetstar acquired the No 1 cancellation rate in Dec/2022 according to Gov statistics. It would not be a romantic trip if you experience at least more than once. Mine was four times of 4 in 2022. How lucky I was!

Jetstar recorded the highest percentage of cancellations at 7.2 per cent during the month, followed by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 5.0 per cent, Virgin Australia at 3.4 per cent, Qantas at 2.9 per cent, QantasLink at 2.5 per cent, and Rex Airlines at 0.7 per cent.

    • Yep. Will never fly Jetstar again.

Yes you will, everyone says that until the next $40 flight sale drops and then everyone has the same thought of "i'll take the risk for $40"

    • farout! thats crazy. i flew twice with them in Dec (first flights since covid) and while i got lucky, the ground processes seemed heaps chaotic, both flights boarded late cause the previous flight arrived late and neither time did they bother to even announce the delay. Hopefully they get things in order cause pre-covid i really liked jetstar

The worst thing is the returning flight from Tokyo was cancelled and jetstar didn’t provide any help for transportation or accommodation. They also set up heaps of barrier to compensate! If u wanna have a nice trip then never ever fly with Jetstar! Nightmare!

    • Same as Emirates in Tokyo…tents

      • +1

Isnt Emirates supposed to be a better flight operator?

You’d think after canceling a flight after 7 hours of delays that EK would go to provide accommodation? It’s all the same shit these days - no matter the airline

    • Strange. They cancelled my flight back in 2018 and told us we had an allowance for hotel and food for the day until we could fly again. Just had to send in recipets once we were back and they sent us the amount.

Also they try and avoid or limit their liability under the Montreal convention. Which they cannot do.
They need to actually have teeth in enforcing this. Massive massive fines - and a strike system which could pull their air operators certificate. Not some slap on the wrist which is business as usual for Jetstar.

    • I only recently learned it doesn't apply to domestic flights. At least that's what they claim on their T&Cs:

Yes this is correct. Which is all the more reason Australia needs a Legislative backbone. We are pretty much the only developed country with nothing in place.

        • Ever dealt with CASA or AirServices (who is probably who would administer it)? If it involves them doing work or follow up they don't want to know about it.
Literally had a woman once say yeah there was merit to the complaint, but she wasnt going to follow it up because it's possible nothing would happen so didnt want to waste her time.

  • No Perth Bali unfortunately.

    • Don't you have other budget airline options from Perth?

    • No Adelaide Bali either

  • when can we see some cheap direct flights to SFO/LAX through QANTAS?

  • Is it possible to book a longer trip but not stay in the hotel for the whole time? E.g. Book a 10 day trip but only book the jetsrar hotel for 4 days

    • I don’t believe it is as you are booking a package with them. I have looked at one of their sales previous and couldn’t see this as an option

Price is FROM 859. Couldnt even find which date it is…

  • Can someone explain this to me? Is jetstar saying your partner flies for free? or you pay for 2 and they welcome a 3rd for free to your romantic getaway?

    • you pay the amount they say and it covers 2 people

  • "4 Nights at The Haven $859 for 2 Travellers @ Jetstar.com"

  • Checked baggage and carry on bag surcharges are criminal.

    • pretty much every low cost carrier (and some major carriers) charge for checked baggage. Even Air NZ (I just booked a flight with them)!

      • I know this and have been travelling using low cost carriers and major carriers for a long time.

In this instance they're charging $50 for 20Kg of checked bags per person per leg on a domestic flight.
Much more than I've been charged by Jetstar or other low cost carriers when adding bags in advance.

        • Ouch, that's higher than AirNZ was, that's for sure :/

I will never fly jetstar or qantas again. Their plane is so dirty and for some reason, I've always been so unlucky with multiple cancellations.

If you're going on a holiday to relax, probs go with a more reliable airline for peace of mind imo.

  • Had a look at some deals from Adelaide and they all seem to be for travel from late July. Smells like an attempt by Jet Star to sell short holiday stays during the quieter winter period and when the weather is bad.

  • The weather in Bali in July is good.

The weather in Southern Australia in July is wet.

A good reason to escape to Bali.

    • Presuming your Jetstar flight actually makes it to Bali before your holiday period ends ;)

  • The problem with super cheap or free flights is that if they cancel (which is pretty likely) you get bugger all back and have to pay a fortune for a replacement with a proper carrier.

  • Does any one know how does this work ? Do we check out and pay for one passenger or two ?
If I select two passengers and check out the package price increases by around $300
