  • Great earbuds!

    • Horrible fit. Not suitable for any type of exercise or even walking fast!

      • Fits me just fine. I'm not the only one.
Haven't tried exercise… I've heard good things about it though! 😛

    • Harvey Norman have dropped their price to $248

Reminder you can price match at Google Store for free shipping and the usual store credit.

    • What's the store credit situation?

      • +4

Google One members get 10% of purchase price in credit at google store, depending on subscription.

google store people / support are a nightmare to deal with

      • +1

Nightmare and a HALF. Worst customer support in my opinion

      • Totally agree as they sent me 3 pixel 6 phones due to a broken rma process which cost me huge amount of time to get money returned to my card…

        • and the paperwork to be filled out in triplicate for the tiniest return…ridicolous

          • @MrBillions: That's Toll priority paperwork for you as the RMA process is from SG/HK

      • Not my experience for a warranty claim

    • How do you price match? Contact their help/support?

      • Start here
You should purchase first to get the order ID for the form; they'll refund the difference.

        • +1

you need to wait until it has been shipped, otherwhise nothing will happen.
Fair dinkum last year I raised a price match, then they told me I have to wait for my order from google to be shipped to get the price match. Shipping took almost 2 days.
Then by the time it was shipped the competitor price went up so they would not honor the price match anymore so I ended up returning it and that was a huge hassle as it takes 3 forms and return booking with carrier and it goes back to HK i think. Nothing straight forward here with price matches at google…

          • +2

@MrBillions: best way to deal with this type of scenario is to confirm the eligibility of the price on chat when you order. They'll confirm the link over chat and then tell you to submit the price match when the product is shipped - for this interaction there would be a case ID. When you submit the price match later, and if there are any problems - you can just refer back to the original case ID where the competitor price match and link was confirmed. Usually don't need to go to that length, but a good safety net if required!

how is noise cancel compared to sony ones ? i tried xm5 at jh store, when applying noise cancel, after some time i felt dizzy, not sure why …

    • -1

      Why compare to xm5 headphones?

      Do you mean xm4 earphones?

      • Ok, should be xm4, never use this kind of things before

  • +1

Got these with expiring credit on the Google store last year. So glad I did it, they've been great. Noise cancellation is good, comfort and audio quality is good. They pair nicely with my pixel phone and my chromecast with google tv. Brought them and my trusty qc35 ii's on this trip but used the buds exclusively (probably to avoid heat from the over the ears tbh but haven't missed them)

    • how long does the google credit last?

      • Usually 12 months.. i have another few hundred to spend in the next 9 months as well ha.. maybe there'll be a new chromecast

        • Where do you see that expiry date?

          • @MrBillions: They started sending me reminder emails leading up to the expiry with a breakdown of the various parcels and their expiry dates. I'm not sure you can get the same detail any other way.

    • How do you find the fit with these? Do they tend to fall out over time? I generally use over ears and I'm worried about having to constantly adjust them throughout the day as some reviewers have stated.

      • +1

I don't have much in the way of comparisons.. I'm using the default tips and I find it OK. On maybe 2-3 occassions I've had one work its way out of my ear due to aggressive chewing motions but I rarely eat large things whilst wearing. I tend to adjust them on occassion (maybe every 30-60 mins) when I feel them being a little loose.

These are shit. Don't fit my ears properly. The Samsung Buds Pro were a much better fit for me

    • +6

A bad fit for you doesn't make it a bad product.

    • Agreed. Poor design, useless for exercise

  • Thanks, grabbed a pair. My first pair of obscenely priced wireless earphones. My current Soundpeats cost $53. They're fine. Not convinced these'll be 5x better. Feel a bit nauseous.

    • +1

      You'll be right. Decent buds

    • Which soundpeats did you have before ?

    • +2

Interested to know the diff also, I rock soundpeats trueair2 & bose qc35s

      • +2

Picked them up earlier today. No regrets so far. Spatial audio and noise cancellation are excellent (but both features are new to me). Currently have a ceiling fan on full blast above me and I can't hear it. The fit is really nice for my ears - creates a solid seal. The Pixel Buds Pro app tests the seal for you and recommends the correct tips. I'm not an audiophile so won't say anything about the highs, mids, and lows but I'm sure they're good. If you have the spare cash I say grab a pair.

added to my collection, straight into the cupboard, thanks op

I also had trouble with the fit with all three size rubber bits, would always eventually slip out if I was moving my jaw or leaning over or something.

Accidentally put one through the washing machine… And it actually survived. However the noise cancellation makes a crazy noise, so turned it off. Apart from the fit, the build quality is rock solid. Many drops, no issues.

Summary review (got a bit out of hand):
    - sound quality great, noise cancellation great (afaict).
    - Bluetooth connectivity with single and multiple devices works well. I was pretty impressed because Bluetooth is usually so janky. Bluetooth range is pretty good (most of my house through walls).
    - Touch controls slightly awkward/annoying. Hard to change volume fast, sometimes taps trigger twice, interpret volume change as pause, etc.
    - having assistant on long press is kinda cool (like a secret service agent) but gimmicky. I really only use it to skip podcast ads or check weather. Responding to "Hey Google" is good for hands free (e.g. washing dishes, exercising).
    - battery life good (not remarkable), BUT (big but) they can't be turned off without putting them back in the case. I usually leave the case somewhere in the house and take them out somewhere else, so they drain the battery and I have to disable Bluetooth on my phone to stop connecting to them.
    - they detect when they're in your ears and or when you take out/reconnect when you put back in. Clever idea, but mostly just introduces a delay after putting them in your ear before you can hit Play again.

I'm a Google stan and love Pixel products, but I find these just a bit irritating (mostly the fit, the not turning off, and the delay after putting in). Next pair will be back to Jabra I think (elite 65t sport are chef's kiss, and I assume they've got much better since).

The biggest problem with these is the fitment, they work and sound great but they always fall out of my ears no matter which size tips I use. There's a heap of people online with the same problem, they're just a bad design. I've had to use aftermarket memory foam tips which seem to have mostly fixed the problem, but I shouldn't have to at this price. I've never had fitment issues with other bids, just these.

  • How do these compare to the apple AirPod Pros?

    • -2

      Trash

      • I’ve never been an apple person but recently switched two weeks ago. Have to admit the AirPod pros are god like.

    • Really depends on which features are important to you… The design and compactness of the Google buds are what I look for, to me the antennas on the airpod pros look stupid and ugly on those who wear them - but they improve call quality since the mic is closer to the mouth etc. Since I don't use the ear buds for calls much it's an easy decision. Have a look at the following review as a rough guide. Bear in mind extra features have been added to the Google buds since the review.

      https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/google-pixel-buds-pro-vs-…

I've only been using the Google pixel buds pro for a week, so far no issues and they fit well (perhaps I'm the lucky ones, but from what I read some people aren't actually wearing them properly hence the loose fit - supposed to insert them and twist back so that they sit in the ear).

Is it worth it (not just referring to Google pixel buds pro here, also other more expensive ear buds)? I have my reservations… I owned a cheaper pair of ANC ear buds (~$120) which performs almost as well. Unless you're an audiophile or really picky, some of the differences are probably too insignificant to notice.

      • I hear ya. My 1more comfo buds pro are fantastic for about 1/3 of the money

      • Which cheaper of earbuds were you using?
        Edit: @Matcha

        • I've got a pair of Soundcore by Anker (Space A40) which I've been using for a few months - probably one of the smallest ANC earbuds I could find with decent spec / reviews, which I'm extremely happy with too. Was on special both on their AU website and Amazon during Black Friday & Boxing day sales, gone back to full price now.

  • Multipoint doesn't work if you have Mac. It prefers Mac over my pixel 6 pro

  • -1

    Do these do multipoint connections?

  • So these aren't that good for phone calls?

    • +1

One of the best .. much better than Sony. Google and listen to recorded calls.

  • For those that don't have or want an always on assistant beware that only Bixby can be triggered by touch on these.
Samsung refuse to allow you to configure these for Google Assistant.

This Ausdroid review may be useful for people who consider buying them.

When I'm making love to my wife with these on noise cancelling they keep falling out

    • +2

Strange, that's never happened for me. Say hi to her for me.

  • But seriously, just picked mine up.
Fit, function, sound - all great.
I've just had cheaper TaoTronics, QCY's, etc. before.
Only issue so far is when using with Win 11 there has been a bit of delay between the two earpieces creating a slight echo, but then it goes away.
Not sure what that is, have not had it with any other head/earphones.

  • Harvey Norman has them for $248

    • And officeworks will beat this by 5% right? bringing it to like 235?

      • they should, but looks like Harvey is now out of stock….

  • +1

Cancelled my previous order as I haven't picked up yet and placed a new one for $224 see AFTERHOURSJAN post from this morning. Now it is a good deal.

Got them. Very happy. Actually using them!!

    • Good to hear. I decided to upgrade from my Buds Live yesterday when the 10% coupon appeared. The generally positive reviews from those using them for fitness related activities got me interested, hopefully I'll be pleased as well!
