I like this deal, I do. I really really like it, I do… I do… (this sums up PM's song writing skill).

    • +3

Definitely a big market for his song writing skills, lot richer than us browsing on ozbargain haha

Reading the last line triggered the twangy guitar playing inside my head!

    Victoria

    • +1

      Added to title

      • Please don't. You can buy tickets to this event from anywhere, you can also buy them for family & friends who live in Melbourne. Dedicated fans still have time to arrange accommodations and travel to Melbourne for the concert.

Please only add [VIC] if it is not practicable to arrange travel, or if the sale is restricted to residents of VIC.

        • +5

Can we add (Vic) or (Melbourne) after Marvel Stadium for those of us who have no idea where Marvel Stadium is?

        • +8

          That's a really bad take I reckon.
Adding the Vic tag still allows people to travel or buy for friends

Edit - I could travel or buy this for friends too https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/753523

          • @Bren20: Users filter deals with the title tag. Those who filters out [VIC] will have this deal demoted or not seen at all. Use of title tags.

[NSW] Electric Hotwater Systems 50L $150, Push Bikes $50 @ Quantum Energy Technologies, Rosebery

You cannot buy this without visiting the Rosebery store as far as I am aware, so this is not an example that supports your proposition.

        • +4

I'm with dinna89. If it says vic, that's so clear. If it doesn't, that's so confusing.

        • +3

I'm confused by this comment, is this a new rule or guideline?

I can recall plenty of restaurant, concert and musical deals over the past 10 yrs on Ozbargain, that are given a tag if they are only available in a particular state.

Seems like only common sense to add it, in my view.

          • @clandestino:

given a tag if they are only available in a particular state.

You are correct, and the keyword is only. If Ticketmaster restricts the sale of the concert tickets to only Victorians, or if the concert is for this weekend (such that there isn't time to organise travel from interstate), then the title tag will be added.

            • +5

@alvian: I think common sense should prevail. That is, the VIC tag should remain on this deal.

OR .. if the mods believe that people are willing to travel JUST for this deal, then "Plus travel costs" should be included (same as delivery costs get included for other deals).

              • @karnage1020: I suppose you want [QLD] on this post because it departs from & arrives in Brisbane. Or we should add travel expenses to Brisbane?

                • @alvian: Yeah, I would expect QLD to be tagged on that post. But, you're the mod so you do what suits your site best.

                  • @karnage1020: According to your standard, all of these posts must then be tagged for the departure states too, and all additional travel and parking expenses to the airports must be added.

                    • @alvian: I'm not sure if you are upset that people disagreed with this post not being tagged, but you seem to be quite passionate about it. So, as I said, you're a mod and therefore you get to decide what does and does not get tagged.

Us users are big enough and smart enough to figure out whether a post suits our needs or not, but obviously, we'd like to be able to skim over things and make an informed decision as to whether we will click into it to read the full description or not.

So, do as you wish with the site. Make it user friendly or not. At the end of the day, it's a site that I check daily and recommend to many people. I'm not going to change that if a post is tagged as a specific state or not. So do what you think is best.

                      Cheers.

                      • @karnage1020: It is not about being upset but about being consistent and logical. First you wrote "(if) people are willing to travel JUST for this deal, then "Plus travel costs" should be included", then you want [QLD] to be applied to a cruise that departs & arrives from Brisbane. Following your line of thinking, all airfare deals must then be tagged for the departure state. And with airport parking and public transport to airports charging exorbitant prices, "plus travel costs" should be included. This is the logical conclusion of what you wrote.

                        • @alvian: Yes, that is what I said and what I believe. If the deal is for a specific state (including travel deals) then they should be tagged as such.

That's the consistency that I would like to see.

                          • @karnage1020: And what kind of standard would you apply to the calculation of the travel cost?

                            • @alvian: None. I would just write "plus travel costs" same as some posts say "plus delivery costs"

                              • @karnage1020: I see. So all pickup, in-Store & C&C orders must include "+ Travel Cost" in the titles, and 99% of posts are non-compliant.

                                • @alvian: Now you're just being pedantic :-)

It's all good, bud. Leave out the state tag, it's not the end of the world. I'll use my brain, as will all the other users, and will read each deal and decide whether it suits me.

I'm off now. Got to put the kids to bed.

Maybe they should just give it away, give it away, give it away now…

  • Possible to use shopback and Ticketmaster gift cards for an additional 4% but I can't confirm as I didn't attempt it.

I did this the other week for the Sydney show :)

      • Yeah last week for a few days was $79 for the 2nd (Saturday) show too

You can check tixel if there's anybody offloading tix for cheap

        • +1

Damn missed it! No posting here? Tixel is great have use often.

          • @iGrouch: Yeah nah wasn't posted on here. I got this link in a newsletter. Just checked now and there are still $79 tickets available!

And yeah I used tixel for the first time last Nov 2 days before The Corrs. Was a bit worried cos it was basically half price for A reserve tickets. Turned out to be all good and 2nd row too. Was stoked!

  • +8

Got some sweet Level 2 Row A seats…thanks a bunch!!

Weird combo deal. Who's up first?

    • +2

      Who's up first?

      Haha, great joke.

      • What’s on second?

  • Oh man. We paid $204 ea for our L1 (row D) seats. 😭

    • Same here man. I thought I was very lucky to get it as it was sold out for a while.

  • +10

You can get a better deal from the dude selling it under the bridge!

This is what happens when you have a show on a non-weekend day.

Wish I could go, but that's just too-short-of-notice to wrangle a day off.

    Is John back?

      Yep.

How heavy are the members of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers?

Give it a weigh, give it a weigh, give it a weigh now.

      • +2

They look pretty fit to me? Can't believe Anthony is 60 years old.

  • -8

Honestly, I wouldn't watch the RHCP for less than $200.

    • +6

      What's the logic behind this?

      • +9

he bought a ticket for $200 and is now salty

        • +1

They may be a terrible band, but changing your offer like that with no explanation is terrible negotiating.

Also they aren’t a terrible band, it’s just your subjective opinion. They’ve reinvented themselves several times to remain fresh, have penned some true pop/rock/funk classics, and their talents are undeniable to anyone who has properly listened to them. Not even a fan, I’m just addressing your negativity.

        • I agree. You'd have to pay me $1000. Their music is pure cancer to my ears

    • +4

      A Stadium Arcadium (2006)

    • -4

Rock isn't dead. But the RHCP are terrible.

      • it is. former metalhead here.

        • +14

Being a former metalhead doesn't boost your opinion.

        • +1

If your idea of metal is RHCP then you weren't a metalhead. Or hell, if you think rock is metal.

          • +1

@freefall101: Wow that is probably the worst interpration of what i wrote.

        • +2

          Metal isn’t dead either.

      • +3

just been listening to them all day……..love them and always will

        original music doesn't die

      • How can you honestly state that any genre of music is 'dead'? You do realise that there are billions of people around the world that have different tastes to you and still live and breathe this music?

  • +22

    We want Chilly Willy!

    • +8

what i'd like is i'd like to hug and kiss you

    • Was looking for this comment haha

  • +6

Why did the Red Hot Chili Pepper cross the road?

    To get to the otherside.

    • -8

      To record another terrible album.

  • +5

Been to RHCP free concert in 1999 at Red Square in Moscow. Good times.

    • Oh the good times the world believed in Russians.

      • Oh, those Russians.

  • Interesting choice to perform with Post Malone

    • -1

I know Postie could probably book it out himself

      • Doubt it

  • Nice! might even stick around for RHCP

  • I don't know why they announced the second concert when the first was only 70% sold lol

    • +4

If you sell the remaining 39% tickets for $79 each, that's still tens of thousand of dollars profit.

  • +1

Tempting at that price, they were disappointing when i last saw them, so said naa the first time… but $79 bucks could be a bargin if they are putting on a good show.

    • +1

Yeah they were my favourite band growing up but every time I’ve seen them live they’ve been average. Nothing like how they’re portrayed in their live DVDs. Can’t blame age because Metallica still go hard af and they’re around the same age.

Hopefully having Frusciante back has reinvigorated them.

  • Sydney also has tix for $79, thanks OP

  • +9

Couldnt resist, nothing against this post i just wonder how ticketmaster can charge a $10 handling fee for a computer code sent via email which often you print out? About as bad as qantas credit card fee before the ACCC stomped them

    • +6

Have you ever played the game Monopoly

      • Whats that got to do with forcing bs "fees" for services they dont actually provide?

        • +6

There is no justifiable reason… Ticketmaster are the scum of the earth and do what they want

        • +2

          They have a monopoly…

        • +2

          So close…

    • +1

Is there a list for these things.

VillageCinemas for booking myself online, no staff required… that's BS.

Next ColesWorth will charge for self-checkout.

      • Seriously? Didn’t know about cinema booking fees, that’s preposterous. Vote with your wallet.

    • Ticketmaster provide the ticket sales, some attempt at customer service, all that stuff around it. That's their fee for it. If they just baked it into the price of the ticket no one would have any problem.

      • So you mean what their in business to do lol, sound like a liberal, im struggling to afford a second house having to do some actual work. They don't because ppl would be more pissed if the base price was higher, the items you mentioned are cost of busuness and should be factored into the base price, just like woolies factors in all the marketing and everyday rewards in its costs, kind of like how a component of Aldi prices being lower because not doing marketing and brand promos.

    • +1
