Would be good if it had a sensor to turn on and off or be able to schedule it to turn on and off.

    • +8

At this price and size of the light? lol. Get a smart power plug with USB or an old charger plugged in and you're good to go.

      • But then power consumption goes up. I would like a small packaged usb led light with day night sensor.

        • Just add a USB switch.

      Do It Yourself

      • How?

        • +2

Schedule Alexa alarms/timers and when the alarms/timers go off you switch the lights on or off accordingly.

        • Usb motion sensor

        • +1

          Finger

        • +2

          That's the store's name.

    • Was thinking this as well

    • You are looking at the wrong product. This is a night light designed for people who wanted a constant night light.

      • Yer i want a night light but i want the night light to only work at night. Equipped with a photoelectric cell.

  • +9

Store name reminds me of this.

    • +4

Can't say I was expecting a 40 Year Old Virgin reference in a mini USB light deal!

"You wait for it to grow into a plant."

  • +19

Seems like junk looking for a purpose

    • +2

Ok for a night light instead of smashing your toe on furniture. But thinking about it, I wouldn't fit power points with USB ports that are on 24/7 to use it.

I have one of these types in a powerbank on the top shelf of my desk shining on my keyboard at night: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002165405141.html

I couldn't use this type for that purpose though. I'd get a headache. (The Xiaomi type bends so the light still shines down but you're looking at the back of it, so the light isn't in your eyes.)

    • +1

I have a few of these and they're great for camping. Plugging one of these into a powerbank is perfect for use in a tent.
Got mine of AliExpress ages ago but mine are just a warm white light.

      • One in a powerbank enough to light up the tent? How small is your tent? Lol

    • +3

You just described 95% of the deals on this website.

  • +1
    • +4

You mean US $3.73 (~A$5.27) for 10. Not a bad deal if you need more white or warm.

Your AU$2.32 is for 1pc ex GST with AliExpress' inflated exchange rate.

      • +2

Fooled by title and didn't look at emitting colour description.

Tempted to order and then complain when I receive only one.

    • +9

Classic aliexpress scam. Title says 10pcs, but down where you select the colour, for AU$2.32 you get "Emitting Color: Warm-1PCS"

能骗就骗 (if you can cheat, then cheat). Mind you the West has gotten 'good' at this too.

        • I prefer the saying "Don't be a (profanity)". There is no honour in being a scammer.

  • +2

Tempted… but i have resisted as I have no idea what the point is

    • +1

to stick into your spare usb port

    • You plug these into powerbanks to act as flashlights.

The description claims they are also "night lights" but that doesn't make sense since they don't have a motion or light level sensor attached to turn them on and off.

      • +8

A night light doesn't necessarily have to have a motion sensor.

      • To see 10cm in front of you? Lol.

I think a phones flashlight would be much brighter and more convenient.

        • +1

Yeah, but only everyone in Australia has a smartphone.

      • Torch*

    • +1

It keeps dust out of USB ports.

  • -2

    Why though? lol

  • +2

Serious question. Are these fire safety hazzards? I mean will one of these blow up/burn if you had left them on for a long period of time?

    • +1

Nah, in the specs it says it uses around 1W of power, so it wouldn't get hot enough to burn or blow up. These are not particularly bright lights.

    • +5

Well anything powered is a "fire hazard" but the LED is more likely to go open circuit and that would be the end of it - into the bin. A greater concern is all the power points and powerboards around the country with live USB ports on 24/7, toasters left plugged in and switched on (apparently a major cause of house fires), food processors, bread machines, and washing machines no-one unplugs though they only use them for 40 minutes once a week, etc.

Then of course there's people like Brad Hazzard… who isn't much of a bright electrical spark but was definitely a hazard to everyone's health.

      • +1

Probably more fires start from clothes dryers with filters that have never been cleaned or old fridge motors that suddenly overheat because nobody’s ever checked the grill on the intake vent. I remember once when I was with QFES we did a house safety inspection and asked the home owner how often she cleaned the dryer’s lint filter - she was surprised to learn that was even a thing. facepalm

        • Well yeah you'd think so, but I heard the toaster thing on the radio years some ago. They were interviewing the head of NSW Fire & Rescue I think it was. He said the number one cause of house fires was toasters. He didn't explain why. Maybe it's bits of bread smouldered for a while then caught alight, or maybe because their construction hasn't changed since their invention (high-resistance wire electrical current turns so hot they glow red)… who knows. He just said to unplug them when not in use. i.e. He said don't even leave them plugged in with the switch off. As someone who routinely works on electrical appliances that makes zero sense to me, but he said it.

    • Not a fire hazard.

    • Just a environmental hazzard, been a tech junk

  • +3

Bought a pack. I wish they weren't so fat so I could plug them into one of my spare 4-port hubs and plug that into a Power Bank, but oh well for $2.98 delivered can't complain.

Also what the hell is with other buyers leaving pro Ukraine / Putin hate messages as their feedback on this listing? I'm on Aliexpress almost everyday and that's the first time I have seen that lol

    • +10

AliExpress is massive in Russia and more so now due to all the sanctions so Ukrainians are raiding the review sections to make them mad.

      • They didnt care about killing ethnic Russians in donbass . Doubt they care about n
        Azov Nazis

  • speaking of aliexpress, does anyone know when they resume operations in China? my order from early January got sent back to the seller so I'm just curious as to when they would send it it again

    • +1

Chinese New year goes for 15 days so probably at least one more week

    • +1

All the sellers are pretty much resuming today and tomorrow. Many stores will show the dates they're back on their profile.

    • +1

I had two orders sent 1-2 days ago, from early JAN orders.

  • +3

Bought a pack to use as night lights in the caravan for the kids, they have USB ports in the bunks that aren't used.

  • +1

    don't forget Cashrewards!

  • can anyone recommend any led light with motion/dawn sensor/usb rechargable battery

the ones ive tried from amazon work great for a mth then batteries barely last a week…

  • +3

Got these for 10¢ years ago….. Still going strong and doesn't take up space unlike these

    • I don't even know where mine of those are. Probably buried deep in the shed.

    • +3

missing those crazy deals from the good-old-days!

  • Makes you wonder if there's any free loggers or spyware

    • 😂😂 really

      • key logger would certainly be able to fit in that.
If there was one, the user plugs one of these lights into USB port on computer, it tracks what keys are pressed, and sends select sequences to server somewhere.

        • 😂

          • @Clear: Hi Clear
            read up on Stuxnet,
scale that down a lot (to something much easier to do) because accessing what is typed and then 'typing' some of it again later is much simpler than taking over industrial control systems, but USB device can tell a computer that it is a keyboard and then can do anything that a person could do if they were typing.
or search for USB key logger, then remember that the chip that has the smarts can be made to fit in the plug part of what looks like a normal USB cable…
if you are then still laughing, let me send you a cable or two. <grin>

  • So the total cost is $5.80 with shipping costing $2.55

    • +2

How did you come up with that figure? Are you adding multiple to the cart?

      • Oops my bad now I got it lol total is $2.71

  • Psa: if you get scammed (like i did)and leave a negative 1 star detailed review, seller/aliexpress will most likely delete it. Even if you have screenshots of the seller lying and admitting to stealing part of your order so it's 100% useless.

    • Negative feedback never mattered much… they'd just open a new account. But then several years back AE was making a real effort. Then it went backwards again. The last few times I purchased stuff there all I got was scammers, even sellers with huge numbers of positive feedback were trying the "You give me good feedback I Paypal you refund" nonsense. So I started looking for the same item on ebay, often found it, for the same or cheaper price, without all the trouble.

It's the time wasted on those thieves that annoys me the most. The item doesn't arrive, have to wait weeks to complain, then they apply to extend the dispute, try scamming you into closing the complaint, etc all over a couple of dollars. Meanwhile the reason you needed it passed weeks ago. Scum!

  • I like to keep this night light plugged in all night

OP, would you know if the light heats up when plugged in for a long time?

  • Plug this in your car

  • Anyone rcecived their order yet?
