Let's be real here. Anyone who thought the GG PsVr2 deal was going to be honoured was a chump. It was a preorder and a new item, and it was never going to be honoured.
I legitimately felt bad for the people who got baited and ended up using gift cards, which added further pain for those folks.

This section of the terms could be clearer as it sounds like it excludes the store.Sony.com.au

It just means you save the offer from the Amex app. And use that card to purchase.
You cannot just activate the deal and not use Amex card right… and of course it has to be Sony store or online Australia Store.

Excludes payments made via phone.However, when you save the offer on your card, it says:

The terms are pretty specific and excludes this channel of purchase :( which is a little sad as I need to buy it over the phone as part or a warranty claimDamn, friends account isn't eligible for this offer again. Any tricks for getting it or is it purely random?

Few steps to get this for $400 if you have saved the Sony offer on Amex.
Go to Sony website and ask to price match amazon (Amazon selling them for $496.80 https://amzn.asia/d/8yrjSMs)
Request them to price match to $500 and not $496.80 - you would need the amazon link.
Add to cart and inform Sony's price matching team with your sony account details.
Sony's price matching team will update your cart to $500.
Pay using your Amex card.
Amex will transfer $100 cash back to your account.
