Waiting for the chicken burger to be half price :(( Guess many like me!

    • +1

Yeah we bought a shitload of those burgers the last couple of times. Great for quick easy meals when we just can't be stuffed.

    • Agreed, they are great on sandwiches

    • +4

They are nice but 5 for $14 (everyday price) is too much. $7 I get a few but they haven't been that for awhile :(

  • These suck compared to the Ingham's Buffalo Chicken Wing Dings that they seem to have replaced at my local store ..

    • Thanks didn't know about these are they like original kfc flavor ? do they ever go half price .

    • How do the Ingham wings go in an air fryer? Do you need to spray them with a bit of oil first?

      • +2

I just chuck them in as-is and they're perfect

    • These were great, but the sizes have dropped over the last decade to maintain price point etc.

    • I get the ingham wings and throw them in the air fryer. They are delicious. Wait till they are on sale around $7.50

    • +1

Ingham's wings are great. The Tegal portions are way too salty and the chicken tastes a bit weird.

    • +1

      $12/kg for wings. Wow.

  • Thanks OP - My favourite chicken on Special again :)

    • Are these actually any good? Love me some fried chicken but never imagined the frozen supermarket version would be any good

      • +1

I find the Coles Southern Fried in the refrigerator section turns out well in our air fryer. Not frozen though.

        • their southern fried is so bad, why star anise and pepper taste so strong

          • @dukeGR4: I found they changed the recipe a while back.but it changed again more recently..or it's inconsistent from the supplier.

          • @dukeGR4: Fennel is what give that Anise-flavour. Used fennel once in cooking and never again its way to potent flavour for my likening.

      • +2

For me they're okay. A bit dry for me. Haven't tried deep frying it but instructions on it says to not to and just air fry.

        • +2

The instructions have you cooking them for way too long. I think maybe 30 minutes was enough to get them cooked through.

      • Bought some bags when they were $3.50 a kilo a few months ago. Quck and easy to prepare. Taste wise, they're just okay. I didn't find them to be spicy at all - disappointing in fact. I ended up costing them in Peri Peri. The coating was also pretty tough, I probably should have thrown them in the oven for better results. I'm unlikely to buy these again. For the love of Gawd, can Mt Barker PLEASE bring back the Peri Peri chicken winglets.

      • I bought 4 packs last time. Made one (Nashville) and found it to be so salty I felt sick for the rest of the night and took the rest back for a refund.

Their primary flavour appears to be salt. :(

        Gross-as IMO.

    Did someone say KFC *__*

    • +1

      I love it!

      • +3

        I don't care.

        • I Love it!!

    • Only 1 person above.

      • Well technically, it's 2 people above.

  • +1

    Which is the best one?

    • +1

      The chicken one

  • i wonder if that nashville chicken fiend in my town will online order another 20 packets at 7 AM this time.

  • +17

In case anyone else was curious, the only difference between the two appears to be the addition of paprika and chilli in the Nashville

    Nashville
    Spices: Paprika, Chilli, Pepper, Celery
Herbs: Fennel, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Oregano

    Louisiana
    Spices: Pepper, Celery
Herbs: Fennel, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Oregano

    • Thanks. Was wondering which one wasn’t spicy.

  • +4

I miss the confit duck legs, now stuck with this option. oh well

  • Damn just added some to our online order for tomorrow earlier on today. Too late to change it now.

This chicken is well decent honestly, keeps me away from KFC if that craving ever sneaks in.

    • +1

you can just happen to "forget" to pickup the order tomorrow then they will refund you

      • It gets delivered :(

    • +1

These seem to come on sale every two weeks. Just order double. ;-)

  • they're ok. i wouldnt brag about them, at this price might get some.

guess they're ok to bury in the freezer for when there's nothing else

  • +1

I really didn't enjoy these. Need to try the burgers.

  • +3

Really hit and miss the chicken quality in these.

Within the same pack you'll get delicious, top quality chicken and some pieces with inedible, grey coloured jelly gunk.

  • +1

Cordina used to do be a great blend, them the product became a victim of Coles. Not enough sales, people waiting for it to be reduced. The last time I saw it was at a large IGA store, and the coating was minimal.
Then along came a few similar blends, and the I have been happy with is the Aldi version.
The Tegel version is quite good though.

  • 4-6 pieces per bag. I’d be cheesed if I only got 4, would rather 6 smaller pieces.

Does KFC still do the 9 pieces for $10 deal?

    • Its 4-6 150g serves. There are about 7 pieces in the bag

      • Thanks.

  • +1

When I got these last time the expiry was 1 month after purchase. Something to look out for. I wondered if this was normal as I’m not a big frozen chicken buyer but I got some Inghams the other day and they had a much longer expiry.

  • +2

These are uber salty…It is cheap but one piece feels like you had enough sodium intake for the day.

    • Agreed. Super salty.

      • Yes, salt overload, will not buy this again.

  • Taste Not as good as Steggall wings

  • +1

Easy chuck it in the air fryer for about 30-40 mins 180°c depending on how many pieces but honestly don't overload it. Turn it once about 20 mins in.
If it's not crispy enough do increments of 5 mins until your liking. Always comes out juicy and comes off the bone nicely.

If the crust is soggy means you either too lazy to flip it or not cooking it long enough.

    • +1

You need to flip food in an air fryer!? I cook them in a benchtop halogen oven on a wire rack and they cook the same all over. If I left this brand of chicken in mine for 30 minutes at 180 it would be burned to a crisp. It's already starting to burn (the wing tip section) at 20m. Much further than 27m and I may as well throw it out, or at least pull all the skin off.

Odd you mention it being soggy too… The pieces never seem soggy at any point. Not when they're cooked just after buying from the supermarket, not from the freezer days later, and not at any time during cooking that I've seen yet. Is your air fryer a "good" brand, or some generic type thing?

  • The hot ones of these are great, i think it might be the Nashville. They taste like KFC.

    • +1

I just tried it for the first time a few minutes ago. Completely agree. Nashville taste like KFC with a kick and so much juicier. (Cooked in an airfryer for 40mins at 180.)

      • Did you put the chicken frozen in the airfryer or defrost it first ?

        • +1

          Frozen

      • I read this post last week, and misremembered the time you said.

Lol tonight I put it in for 20mins at 180, wondered why it was still half raw :P

        • Haha! That's perfect time… To flip it over.
