Given that I am using a 4K panel on a 32inch screen, I can confidently state that resolution is too high for 27inch. The scaling issues are too annoying on windows.

I'd say 4K is too small a res for 27 foot sized screen.

      /S

As someone who has used 4k on a 27 inch screen for 4+ years I can confidently state you are wrong.

I agree.. 4k on 27" is perfectly fine.. and if it's not, specsavers or increase text scaling to 125/150%..

        • I wonder how size of the texts compare for the below:
          4K on 27" at 150%
          2K on 27" at 125%

      • Having used both 27qhd and 27uhd…i can confidently say. It's complex.

Personally I find both are about 80% of perfect. Both have pros and cons. If you have dodgy eyesight then I'd say 27qhd is the winner. But for the rest of us/if you wear glasses. 27uhd looks glorious, super crisp, and windows scaling is essentially perfect in most situations. It's however not perfect, and some apps (eg stuff that's qt based) tends to ignore scaling and it's an issue. 4k is obviously a lot more demanding for gaming.

27qhd you can run native so no scaling issues, and it still looks pretty damn nice…but it's definitely less awe inspiring than uhd.

Going 27qhd at 120hz or so would be an interesting trade off

        • 120hz is wildly overrated for work-related computing. I had 2x 24" FHD@144hz at my old job and sure it makes things smoother but it doesnt enhance or otherwise improve my efficiency or quality of work (spreadsheets). it didnt even have a discernable effect on my eye strain by the end of the day. the FHD at 24" was more of a problem.

i would have gladly traded 144hz @ FHD for 60hz at QHD.

      • People who say 4k is meh on 27 are likely not using Macs. So have no fkn idea.

        • haha yep iv had a 5k 27 for 10 years and its hard to believe 27s in 1080/1440p is still common
Just need to use interface scaling

    • Having just got a 27 inch dell ultrasharp 4K I disagree. Great res at that size.

In fact 5K at 27 inches would be even better if I could afford the LG ultrafine 5K or Apple Studio display.
Apparently Samsung S9 will be 5K as well.

      32 inch! 6K or bust!

I can confidently agree with at9 and entropysbane, 4K on 27” at 60-70cm viewing distance is perfect.

There is no way I could go back to 1440 for everyday use. I tried and it’s nasty.

Next upgrade for me would have to be 55” @ 8k - equivalent to quad 27” 4k’s.

    • Lol what rubbish. Love my 27" 4K screen and use with both Windows and Mac.

Paid $512 six years ago, thought they would be a fair bit cheaper by now.
