  • Anyone know what the screen is like on either of these models? I'm really looking for something to watch movies on a plane without busting the bank.

    • +2

I'd be more concerned about battery life. A tablet/iPad is probably better.

      • Cheers. Are there any options for either of those at this price range?

        • No idea sorry

        • If you can do another $100, this is what you want

    • I have a tablet and a foldable 14" laptop and I gotta say I wayyy prefer watching movies on the laptop on a plane. Since you can use either tent mode on the fold out table OR depending on the pocket situation, it can be even better ergonomically putting keyboard half in pocket and folding it out (if the pocket is high enough). But yes, depending on the length of viewtine you're hoping for a second hand laptop may not be the best (unless you're willing to fork out for a new battery)…

Just keep in mind tablet battery life may not be much better in some scenarios… But at least you can charge them with a 5v USB/power bank.

  • Holy, the ports on this bad boy.

VGA port… how old is this thing?

      • +10

        early 2018

in its defence, enterprise level laptops have legacy ports because they expect the customer to be hooking them up to projectors to do their powerpoints n shit…

you know Mr. John Smith businessman stuff

    Do I need 16gb?

    • If in doubt, the Pro-book is easily up-gradable in future, but the X360 has soldered RAM.

    • +1

If you're in the market for a $300 laptop, you don't need 16GB, certainly not if you've got an SSD.
You can run a respectable gaming PC on 8GB RAM, so if you're struggling with ordinary office and Netflix on that then you've got to close some tabs or something.

    Any cheap 15" laptops?

  • Battery replaceable/available?

  • Can these be shipped to Sydney by Sunday?
    (travelling overseas on Monday)
Or any similar deals in Sydney where I can pick up?

    • Can't guarantee at the moment. Send us your post code and I'll estimate the time

  • Can you opt for Windows 10?

    • Mention that in your purchase note

I just recived the HP ELITEBOOK 840 G6 I ordered from them. Its in very good condition for age and the battery only had 133 cycle and just got 6-7 hr light browsing and updates. Overall happy. Only gripe was the laptop was not cleaned properly. I had to clean the laptop keyboard and trackpad several times to get the grime off. Also it came with windows 11 that booted up without needing to setup or login to microsoft. Dont know if its good or bad. I am planning on putting in a new SSD before logging in with all my apps just to be safe.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I believe you bought hp elitebook x360, I'll pass your feeback to fullfilment regarding cleanup.

In regards to windows, we do fresh install of windows on every device. Some people find it easier to have the device setup already.

You are welcome to reset the windows

      • Hi. Regarding windows whenever i have bought any new windows laptop( 3 in past 1 year) i was required to setup windows by logging in and all. Your computer just booted up to desktop without me needing to do anything or setup my microsoft account. I have not seen this before as even when i did a factory reset of my old laptop i neeeded log in to my Microsoft account. Dont get me wrong i preferred this and would like to do it myself but as its a bit unfamiliar process it spooked me out a bit.

        • Perfectly fine, I just wanted to highlight the process for others as well.

We setup windows to make sure it is activated and to check that various features such as camera, sound and keyboard are working properly.

Up to you guys if you want to reset it or install new windows

        • Microshaft should be sued for making it "appear" as if "all your data belongs to us" in their setup-BS.

          Here's the current workaround:

          [email protected] is your email
          Password can be anything

It'll error and allow you to create a local account.

          M$ are b@st@rds!

  • How is this laptop compared to brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15.6 inch FHD Ryzen 3 8GB 256GB FPrnt IR Camera Arctic Grey Win 11 Home 82KU012LAU($500)?

  • +1

It's a similar spec of laptop but for $200 less. You get a better CPU in the probook and a better size (in my opinion) but you don't get a long warranty and the battery life will not be as good. I'd go for the probook personally and upgrade the RAM to 16gb.

    good deal

    • What good deal?Hp or Lenovo?

  • Certainly cutting it close with "battery health is 70% and above". My unit is reporting 68% from powercfg, and doesn't even make it to 5h of very light youtube. Good aside from that, but a pretty major bummer considering it'll only get worse over time.

Scratches on the HP logo are also easily visible from 1m+, but thankfully that's not something I care about. The screen is also a bit damaged (obvious light patch) where it contacts one of the rubber bits on the keyboard.

    • Are you able to send us an email. Would like to discuss this.
